I LOVE it! (there honestly is no rape/blackmail, seriously.. -.-)

Well, I pretty much feel exactly like "streetwalker", this persons comment was exactly what i think so i won't repeat ^^ But honestly i do want to repeat that the stuff about blackmail and rape is so not true. It's only the very first time it can be considered rape, since at that time Souichi was too weak to resist, but the other times have nothing to with rape or blackmail. You cannot blackmail a person by saying that you will leave them if you don't get your will, seriously. And Souichi says a million times that if he was blackmailed by anyone else, he wouldn't let them do anything. And honestly Souichi is not a weakling or a girly guy, if he seriously didn't want to do it with morinaga, he would have kicked his ass and choked/stabbed him or something like that, but he didn't! So obviously it's not rape, neither is it blackmail, it's all just an excuse for him letting morinaga do that stuff with him without resisting, just like "streetwalker" said, it's not that he doesn't want it, it's that he doesn't want to want it and therefore, the excuse of him being "blackmailed" and "raped". And also whenever morinaga looks at him that special way Souichi always gets all flustered and blushes and all that. Not exactly how you would act if some bastard who had been raping you several times looked at you lovingly -__-

So seriously, i don't understand why some people are writing those sort of lies in these comments, it's like they haven't even read the manga!

So to those people that were thinking of reading it, READ IT and you'll understand that it's a totally great, cute and hilarious manga, that doesn't have the usual rape=love plot that so many yaoi mangas have! Honestly, it's really great in every way and every chapter is entertaining! biggrin

I don't get all the fuss about non-con regarding this manga. I'd say whoever seriously thinks the whole series is some rape fantasy hasn't really read it. The first time it happened was definitely rape but only the first time and even that wasn't planned or anything. It wasn't graphic, it wasn't cruel so as rape goes this was pretty tame.

When you look at the story more closely, all the pieces click. The "blackmail" is basically Morinaga saying he'll leave if Souichi can't give him what he wants from their relationship. Hardly criminal, right? If Morinaga really was sexually abusing him, wouldn't Souichi want him gone? The only reason it's even labelled as blackmail is because Souichi needs an excuse for giving in. And the way I see it, Souchi doesn't refuse the sex because he doesn't want it, but rather because he doesn't want to want it, and there's a big difference... He just doesn't want to be a homo and this manga makes great use of the whole denial trope. I was actually more shocked by Souichi's violent outbursts than Morinaga's sexual behavior.

As for the rest, well the characters are all wonderful. Morinaga is super sweet, sympathetic and easy to relate to. There's also great character development especially when it comes to Souichi and the couple growth is truly touching. For such a funny manga this is very deep. The art is great and the sex scenes are some of the most sensual you'll ever read...

Highly recommend! ♥ And if you decide to read it, don't merely skim through it or you might just miss the whole point...

Super Rape

I honestly seriously hate this serious, it really unrealistic and even for fiction its bad. What person or persons would fall in love with someone that blackmails them and rapes them all the time. Every chance morinaga got he wanted to rape souchii . Its like the dude was sick in the head. I say it unrealistic cause i have gay male friend. and even in his opinion its bad. No one male or female would ever fall for anyone that would rape them constantly. I dont see why people love this. Cause i believe if you love this ,then something wrong. The end of story didnt end well at all. Moringa left souchii , and they both stay in to different prefecture in japan. So i dont see them as lovers. I see them as friends with benefits. Except one enjoys it more, just cause a person comes, are get hard does not mean there enjoying it .. People get rape a lot times and either or i spoke about before happens. i just seriously hated this one. She a great artist, and the some comedy was cool. But sex parts, excuse me rape parts were seriously annoying . Oh wait i forgot in volume 4.1-4.7 where masaki rape ,morinaga brother while he was chain, I justed wanted to take my pc and throw it against the wall. Come on come on, i guess yall love that too. the dude was serious he wanted to get hell out, oh and then she wrote and made him fall in love with masaki . I just think the author was have serious lusty wants , or did some weed when she tranlated on paper.

Makes you think about the line between love and friendship

Not much I can say that hasn't been said. There's some non-con issues so I can understand how it could give some people squick. But really compared to SO many other yaoi this is practically a romance, just with one person extremely, extremely uncomfortable with his sexuality. Though that's just one interpretation, it's the one I prefer. I have read various takes on Souichi's feelings and actions but ultimately people seem to agree this is a compelling manga that makes you think about the lines between love and friendship. I personally really enjoyed it because it was funny, had good characters, great artwork and great sex.

I only wish there was one more chapter.

Hot and touching guilty pleasure

An excellent guilty pleasure in the escapist fantasy genre.

The author manages to deliciously draw out the typical "in denial" trope, and have the story progress slowly and ~naturally enough, with the help of clichés all right, but somehow making it work, and spicing things up with lovely tension and some of the hottest sex I've ever read. It runs out of steam somewhat towards the end around the time they go to Canada, and the ending was totally predictable and anticlimactic. It totally took me by surprise that I'd reached the end since so little emphasis was put on the "first time they made love". Sure it ended the way I expected it to, but I was waiting for something more remarkable to finish those 8 volumes.

Still I really liked that while one "dominated" (not in a D/s or SM way) in bed, the other had the upper hand in their "public life", that the seme was the kind-hearted one, open with his sentiments, while the uke was the tyrant. I appreciated the bid for originality and tentative to break the seme/uke mold if anything else, it helped maintain a sense of balance that is completely lacking from lots of yaoi and which always makes me uncomfortable.

There were many heart-breaking and heart-warming moments when Souichi let the façade crumble and allowed himself to get close to Morinaga (I'm thinking after the fire for example) which made the whole experience really enjoyable as you got attached to the characters. The first yaoi I read when I started in the genre, and I'll keep a good memory of it.

It's a matter of taste but I understand how this manga might skeeve people, and with reason. If you're not ready or can't consider this as something related to sexual fantasies and that rape/forceful sex/dubcon isn't one of your kinks (I personally discovered that it was when first reading this ^^') then it'd be best indeed for your to pass your way.

That being said, this is no dark cesspit of morality with rape everywhere either. That the first sexual encounter is a rape is sadly a fact, and a really unnecessary one where I think the author bowed to the ~expectations of the genre
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Morinaga could have perfectly decided to withdraw from uni after drunkenly confessing and being rejected for example, which would have set the story just as well
and it could be a deterrent for many, but thankfully it wasn't for me, because the story only got better from there. I'd encourage people who can to suspend their disbelief and put their escapist-fantasy goggles on for a short while, as the evolution of the relationship and of Souichi's feelings and behaviour is pretty good and true to character after that.

I don't consider *any* of the sex that happens afterwards as rape, because a) we're in yaoi-land, I'd be all for emasculating Morinaga if it were RL, but realism is not the point here b) in the "logic" of the story, as Morinaga points out, Souichi only seems to be looking for an excuse and c) he even admits that there's no one else he'd do that with, no one else the "emotional blackmail" would work for anyway. And also, because the sex was hot so I didn't mind so much :3 I *am* a pervy fangirl after all.

This has to be fate. I started Koisuru Boukun a long time ago, and today I finally finished it and it so happens to be the 100th yaoi I finished. Loved everything about it, I just hope that sensei will make some bonus chapter or something and I also heard that it will be a sequel featuring Morinaga's brother, I just can't wait.

Koisuru Boukun is without a doubt my favorite yaoi! I love the humor, but I also love the serious moments. This manga is a perfect combination of both. It's heartwrenching and yet very funny. Morinaga and Senpai are both so loveable. But also the side characters and background/family stories are very likeable and add depth to the plot. And the art is simply amazing!

this manga! oh man, its fun and light and yeah the first chapter had .... drug rape....
>.>
<.<
but the way she handled it made it an interesting read. for me its one of thoes mangas that i can read over and over again, and it hasnt even finished yet! the smex scenes are freakin HOT and if that isnt your cup of tea then there is plenty more to love about it, senpai is a violent-homophobe-tsundere and morinaga still loves him (so do i, now that i mention it ^O^/)

definitely give it a read if you havnt already - you wont regret it

(alot of people use Totally Captivated and Viewfinder as the staples in yaoi must-reads, to them i say: Hell No, The Tyrant is the only way to go)

What the hell... Morinaga raped Souichi, but Souichi himself abuse Morinaga all the time. Wonder why this book is called FICTION. It's not something that you guys really should take so damn seriously.

I so love it! This is probably the only yaoi that I can still enjoy even if I skip the sex scenes lol Yes, I can't get enough of comedy! I don't care much to analyze if there are moral flaws or the characters are unrealistic or if there isn't a serious plot. If you just want something fun to read, this is good to go!
