Remember the story arc in Level E where the Prince kidnaps a bunch of kids and turns them into a sentai squad? This is like that, only far less cynical; downright sincere, in fact. It's a parody of sentai shows, which I expected, but it's also a great big hug to the genre. Cassiel starts out as a comical slave driver, but eventually the kids get into it and have fun being heroes with the guidance of their nutso Chief. Partway through the second volume, an actual, dramatic plot develops as well, involving rebellions and secret pasts. Fortunately, the comedy never goes away completely.

The production value on DMP's release is quite high. As one of their older releases, all three volumes mimic the format of the Japanese books, with snazzy dust jackets and extra material printed on the front and back covers under the dust jackets. The trim size is also larger than the standard manga size popularized by Tokyopop (6"x8.25" as opposed to 5"x7.5").

The entire series can be purchased from DMP's Akadot Retail website for less than $15, and you'll get essentially new, unread copies. I do hope more people have the chance to check out this underrated title.
