Description
Ryo Saeba is a "sweeper" in the city of Tokyo. He works as a trouble shooter, cleaning the streets of vermin, and helping out desperate people. Sometimes he's a bodyguard, sometimes he's an assassin, whatever Ryo does he does it well. In fact, his only flaw is his hormones - he loves the ladies and sometimes turns into an idiot when he's near them. Thankfully he's got people like his partner Kaori Makimura to keep him in check.

"I am loving the episodic format of this series. Ryo Saeba is a street sweeper with excellent marksmanship and sharp ears but turns into a complete idiot when he is around women. Design-wise, it's really detailed and I am digging the 80s art style."

You will get an action, comedy, and drama here. But don't expect for the romance between the main character. It's a suuuuper slow romance. What could I say? It's shonen manga after all. But if you want to see a womanizer in charge, you will get many. LoL
It reminds me of Bond 007 where in every case he will meet a sexy woman who turned to love him in the end. Thanks to his tomboyish partner who keep him from those sexy woman.. with a Giant 100 ton hammer. THAT's the trademark of City Hunter. LoL.
I read this for humor and action, but in the end I wanna see the progression of the two main characters.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
It's funny that Ryo is a womanizer who loves to spread his charm but actually he's very shy when he have to admit his love for Kaori

if it wasn't held back by shounen limitations.

This is a MUST READ manga and it deals with some serious subjects, but never quite takes itself seriously, obviously due to targeted audience. Human trafficking, drug usage, huge amounts of firearms and even explosives are all addressed in this story but don't expect too many scenes where the bad guy gets gunned down when the heroes fail to capture them alive after exhausting all efforts.

Always looking for a good manga to read and rejecting this one due to the year it was published.... damn! how wrong i were! This is a timeless story no doubt. Onlyt thing i didn't like was in the artwork section, i mean no offense but the way the author drew women it´s a bit masculine (Reading further the art gets better or maybe i just get used to it). If you´re a guy don't miss this one.

our memory serve us in peculiar way. no matter how bitter the past was, at present time, they become sweet. not deeming this manga to be something 'bitter (or bad) turned good' because its from the past, but if i try to be fair, this one do not possess something special.

true, it is addictive, funny, and few dash of seriousness made the series feel complete. but it slack many times. the story wasn't build solid, the emotion felt rushed, the logic missed sometimes. if you enjoy laid back story, this manga is a classic for you (as a plus point, some mangaka jokes are being referenced even today). but if you want to only pick the best, well, its quite below the bar. my personal preference, the sequel, angel heart volume 1-3.

my conclusion? like any other manga from its decade that survive to this era, they all look really good when we look back to it.

An Amazing Series

One of the best manga i ever saw!! Even though it is an old one.
The characters are also very good, the protagonist is one of the best i ever saw in a shonen manga, beating most of the running series out there.
The plot is episodic, but most of it is very well doned, making you want to see in what trouble Ryo will be.
All in all, this is a manga that i can recommend without fear. The only thing that can be considered a let down is the fact that it is not fully scanlated yet.

I'm so sad it's over after 36 volumes (I read it in french as it has only 10 volumes in english which is a very sad thing actually...) I just want more, I think I might go for some of the sequel (I think it's called angel's heart or something). Anyway I totally recommend it to anyone who has even a bit of humor oh and yes you can't be the easily offended type or it's not for you...

Well i starting seeing the Anime a couple of days ago cause the scanlation seems to be dead. Waited for this series to be scanlated for a pretty long time but well nothing to be done about it sad (cry cry cry)
The anime is pretty well done. The art is a bit old though but i like it never the less. The only bad thing that as far as i know some parts of the manga aint included in the anime because he is directed at underaged people as well. Again here would it be nice to read the manga sad (crycrycry) but still great Manga/anime watch it and if ever comes a scanlation read it !!! i will (cry cry cry)

Ok, firstly It's a Freaking AWESOME series!

Really, it's the first time I stayed up all night since the hellish college entrance exam. But the two cases were quite the opposite. Hell, I read all the available chapter (34 chaps). I laughed soo much that my stomach felt hart it hurts, lol.

Ryo is cool, i love how he handle things, and the way always go after "young" and "pretty" ladies lol. His skills, both shooting and picking up girls are impressive. Oh yeah, his "lil' bro" is of superhuman too (it could hold a weight of 100 kg no problem, lol).

I did not read all the volumes, but with all the chapter available, i'm sure it's a must read. (for normal boys and men) xD!

One last question, is this manga still being scanlated ? (i'm dying to read the rest of this series)
