Seriously, this was dumb. How did the psychotic, sadistic druggie cop turns out to be an elderly woman-respecting, sympathetic right-hand man? Many of the characters here do despicable things, yet chapters later seemingly turn a new leaf without much character development.
None of the story twists makes sense, and the soap opera-style reveal about the blood ties just makes the plot holes even more noticeable. If you like gratuitous nudity and violence in an 'exotic' location, you won't have a problem with Strain. Otherwise, give this a miss.

OK, honestly, this is a rehash of Sanctuary without most of the poltics. The characters, motivations and plot turns are often cliched, not to mention the deus ex machina thing. But the art is gorgeous - a bit stiff and fan-art-y (for both sexes), but really cinematic - and it's still possible to get a good kick out of the action and the emotional twists and turns, openly manipulative as they are. So, derivative but quality seinen.

Action, Adult, Mature, Seinen... Well yes! If you like these, you'll obviously like this manga. It's not one of my favourite so far, but it's definitely a really good manga in its genre.
One thing, the art is great! (well, who doesn't like Ryoichi Ikegami work?). I still have two more volumes to read, but for now, I rate it 8 out of 10. But if it continues to be that good, I'll have to improve my rating!
If you have to remember anything from what I said, it's just that you have to try it! Definitely worth a shot!

Good pacing, lots of action and cool characters and a satisfying ending, what more could one want?

I really enjoyed this manga (I'm also partial to Ryoichi Ikegami's artwork). Lot's of action + sex + an interesting storyline about bloodties, friendship and loyalties = fun quick read.
