Description
From Viz:
Risa Koizumi is the tallest girl in class, and the last thing she wants is the humiliation of standing next to Atsushi Otani, the shortest guy. Fate and the whole school have other ideas, and the two find themselves cast as the unwilling stars of a bizarre romantic comedy duo.
Lovely Complex Plus is actually volume 17 with the final chapter called Love Com Final. The first two chapters are about before Koizumi Risa and Otani Atsushi met each other. The third chapter is about their first encounter and a little bit of what happens to them after the ending of Lovely Complex.
*Contains a side story called Hoshi ni Natte mo Aishiteru (Even When I Become A Star, I'll Still Love You) in vol 12: Reina wakes up surprisingly in her boyfriend's room. But it seems that she passed away three days ago...
In 2004 Lovely Complex received the 49th Shogakukan Manga Award for shōjo.
I started this series by watching the anime in 2008 and it was hilarious to watch and then read the manga and was also hilarious to read. The great thing that i like about this manga is that it makes me laugh really hard, i don't care what kind of mood your in, it will make you laugh. All the hi-jinx and situations tied in together as well makes for one great manga.
i love this manga so much! it's so funny. i also love nakahara-san's other work and i'm looking forward to her feature manga too. ganbare! nakahara-san!!
just reading the first chapter will hook you up!trust me! and this manga is so..innocent...i love all the characters; how they have their own personality cause some other manga-ka don't show more of the characters personality but this one have it, like when they're angry, happy, depressed... all of them have their own way on expressing their selves. nakahara-san really is great!
This series always manages to make me laugh, and it always brings me out of a terrible mood. I can't help but love Lovely Complex, because it's such an original and awesome situation. Just thinking about her plot, it makes me so happy; that two people can get along so well and despite their physical differences and complexes about themselves, love. I can really understand Risa-chan, I seem to have more of an affinity and likeness to her than when I watched the anime years ago, I guess I've gotten as strange as her since then. XD Nakahara-sensei's works can always be made out as hers, her style is so memorable and makes me love manga even more. <3 So yeah. You love thought-provoking-ness, to learn or discover new things? Though not everyone can get what I mean since I speak like an old Oba-chan three times my age. X3 This manga is something different in a good way. I think this manga is mainly about accepting yourself and everyone around us for all of our eccentricities. <3
I really love this manga. I had it all the time and I never even realised it had finished!! Oh god! It was very cute and funny - light hearted but meaningful at the same time. The author is indeed great. I love her other works - Hanada - too because that manga is sooo cute >< All her manga's are cute and innocent.
This was an excellently written and well delivered manga. The characters were funny and sweet. I think the art was expressive and really caught the eye. I'd read this one again and gladly.
I finished Lovely Complex recently, and I must say, it's quite the masterpiece. At first, it was a little weird with the height thing and how it made the biggest obstacle in their romance, but that all changes later. Although, the plot was kind of cliche, I love the way it was told and how realistic it was; not exactly your typical shoujo. The comedy was also a nice touch to the story.
If you're looking for a shoujo with a strong heroine and complex characters, then your next read should not be Lovely Complex. Risa embodies the weak, boy-dedicated heroine, and the other characters are generally of the same fare.
Lovely Complex is certainly one of the better girly works. The plot makes use of cliche devices in a way that isn't completely terrible, and the humor was one of the manga's best aspects. If you don't take it for more than a typical high school shoujo, then you'll definitely enjoy it.
This manga do it job well.So funny,Too much hilarious (can't remember how many time it laugh out loud), some romantic scene and very few serious event. Even sometime Risa make the face that look so ugly to the level of ugliest but still it's just hilarious now and then.
Well, I haven't finished it, I'm on volume 11. But so far, this is one of the only mangas that make me bust out laughing in the middle of the bookstore and start guffawing like a donkey. (this and also Love Attack!) Ah, it has an ok romance to me, it is different, but I wish there would be less wishy-washyness on Otani's side. Oh well! I recommend this book to all who want to burst out laughing with tears in their eyes.
