I have read this twice and it was definitely not on purpose. I didn't remember it at all. It is thoroughly average in all ways. Very predictable, cheesy, and boring. I was nearly rolling my eyes the whole second half.
This is definitely not just shounen-ai, but I wouldn't quite consider it as yaoi either...XD
but this story is definitely really fluffy and sweet...when the pair finally came to terms with their feelings for each other I was really happy!
Definitely a light read with a little bit of drama, but not a lot either. 
and the art is quite decent since it's from 2000 lol
