Description
Wild Rock takes place in a prehistoric setting.
The first story is about a boy, Yuuen, who is asked by his tribal chief father to seduce Emba (a great hunter and the next chief of the rival Lakeside clan) by pretending to be a female so that they can get more food. The other stories are in the same setting, but with different characters (including the fathers of both characters from the main story when they were young).

Honestly, I just picked this up because it had bros in loincloths *DING* happy customer

BUT I actually really liked Wild Rock! (typing the title out now I'm kind of laughing and wondering if it was meant to be some kind of double entendre lmao) First of all, the art is really gorgeous so if you like correct proportions and interesting character designs, this manga will appeal to you.

As for the actual writing, the second story had me tearing up a little bit with the angst! I'll admit that I could be extra sensitive bc it's 1 AM and I may be hormonal right now, but I was really touched by the idea of prehistoric (lol) star-crossed lovers.

With the whole caveman deal, this manga could have gotten really campy really quick, but the mangaka treated it with respect and gravity and made it hard to laugh at as a joke. I recommend this!
(too bad she's stopped writing though sad what a shame)

I love this story, it has a hunky seme, and while I generally dislike the girly uke type, this one isn't too bad. But oh man, Emba's outfit. Yum.

One thing to note, though- The Blu print release is missing the second half of the "Child Rock" end story. Not sure why, and you can live without it, but little Nava is so cute that it's a waste to not have it in the book.

What Gorgeous Art, What Stupid Plot

Some pointless read! If it weren't for the art I would have rated it even lower. I suppose one could consider the stories sweet, but still, they're just so senseless. Oh my, why did I bother reading this one...

Its so cute and cool and fits my love for crossdressers. i don't know why, but crossdressing and bi/gay/lesbo people fascinate and interest me. reading stories with tht kinda thing (especially ones with gay love) have always kinda been my weak point. and this one just happens to hit my favorites. gay and crossdressing, not to mention tribal and historic without all that nasty info that i don't want to know. that's what school is for.
anyways, art is FANTASTIC!! one of the best (esp. for yaoi) i've ever seen in while. i loved the plot line. it's sooo worth it, and as i said earlier...it hits my soft spot. the yaoi parts are short, to the point, and make me feel like this is just BL, but that's cool. becuse this story is awesome. see? i gave it a 10.

It was an okay read but nothing special. The art is fine but there's better. The characters were okay but not that interesting and the story also wasn't great. The tribal setting is interesting but it doesn't come across as authentic. I expected better but for a one time read it's acceptable.

I don't read Yaoi. It freaks me out. I'd never read Yaoi even if it killed me. I went through smut from seinen shojo josei and shonen. I could take a little Yuri but definetely not Yaoi. I expected Wild Rock to be an idiotic story. It only piqued my interest because people kept comparing it to Butterly Night? But But But. This was just sooooooo
WOW.
I hate to admit it but I was able to go through all 6 chapters with my eyes peeled open. The art was gorgeous. Dang, Emba is sooooo hot *swoon*. Yuujen, well, it would've been better if he was my boyfriend wink lol. just kidding. Because yuujen looked like a freaking girl, it was easy for me to imagine that he was one. That made the story lighter for me.
Back to what I was saying. This is nothing like Butterfly night. I mean I dont see the similarities. I just dont see it. Butterfly night was good. This was also good. That's the only similarity. (and the smut).
I just dont kno how the heck did Kayono end up being accused of plagiarising something that has not a drop of similarity?
Anyway, all in all, this was a great story. This will be the first and LAST yaoi manga I'll ever read in my life.
