Description
Reality isn't a shoujo manga, and Miku Ikenouchi's friends know that perfectly well. But then again, they are not Miku-chan. The reason for this is that Miku-chan has a boyfriend, a third year, and is content with what she has. But then a chain of events occur which leaves Miku-chan with a rival (for cuteness), her father quitting his job... and a new roommate?

the heroine sucks

I think if I read this when I was still in middle school, I would've definitely sympathized with the FL. But I read this when I'm already out of school for decades, so yeah I can't sympathize with her at all. I actually sympathized more with the other girl Miyu. I think she learned a lot about herself from her relationship with this wishy-washy guy and what kind of things she wants for her next relationship. She actually ends up becoming a more mature person compared to the FL imo. Well for FL herself, she was just borderline the 3rd person in Miyu & Sou's relationship, while already having a bf. Hard to sympathize with that kind of person, even if you use her age as an excuse for her behaving that way. I don't like her. Guess it's my fault for still reading shoujo at this age lol.

Lacks the light, breezy and genuine development of feelings for the hero

When I was reading sprout, I always felt like there was something missing. Personally, the main character-miku- doesn’t irritate/annoy me and in a way, I do find her quite relatable in terms of these supposedly quite “ugly” emotions of bitterness and jealousy. She reflects the realistic teenager more than most shoujo mangas do. However, Ido feel that she is sometimes quite irrational, and sometimes I do have to think twice about why shes crying, or why is Katoaka san-whatever her boyfriend is called- and Nakahashi are in a near brawl, especially since its so close to the beginning of the manga. All the actions of the characters seem a bit extreme and angst-y. What seems to be missing are those fleeting, cute and nostalgic first meeting moments between Miku and Nakahasi. I may be a little bias when it comes to first meetings between characters, because that's usually my favourite part of any manga, but I feel like this manga just misses out on the development of Miku’s feelings for the main hero, and delves straight for the negative feelings afterwards . I mean, we’ve never really seen both of them interact happily, and there really isn’t a build up of emotions to show why Miku likes Nakahashi so much. Well, that's just my take on it.

Warm Feeling

Where I should start it? Okay, the characters, they're really real just resembles with people in the real life, no one who is perfect and each of characters has their own weakness and problems. I don't think I hate Miku, surprisely I had symphathy of her. She just like us, have a thought like a real girls in her age. The romance, I mostly didn't like this kind of romance life because it's just frustating and pathetic (there are so many times I found it annoying) but I just like this romance between the characters, with their flawless. And I really love the relationnship between the Ikenouchi's boarders, they're bond and conversation was giving me such a warm feeling and I felt sad just like Miku when she realize that everyone are going to leave even though they will be together whatever happens in the future. The ending... that was soooo great! Heartwarming! And cute! Love!

I know Miku's character can come off as selfish, but as someone who read this manga in that same walk of life, I saw myself in Miku's shoes. She's young, confused, and not able to truly make black and white what she wants. I emphasized with her character, and those awkward feelings she felt that contradicted what we might consider right, it showed a side of adolescence that isn't usually brought up. The degree of her confusion reminded me of what I felt. While the manga isn't perfect, it does shed light on one of the most awkward stages we all go through, that while we may have left behind, Miku is going through throughout the story.

For a manga that meta-references it's own genre, you'd think it'd be a bit more self-aware.

The manga starts out with you being able to justify Miku's actions: there is a lot of change and she's adjusting. But then, you can't. She becomes super moody and doubts that her boyfriend it being "boyfriend" enough just because she saw Souhei and Miyu being lovey-dovey. On the contrary, her poor, poor boyfriend seems like a genuinely good guy and it'll probably piss you off (or at least leave a terrible taste in your mouth) how she treated him.

The main leads seem to like each other for no reason and it irritates the hell out of me. There is no development. If she had a crush on him for a while, or in middle school, or in freakin' elementary school, then he moved in and all his stuff happens, it's be more understandable. However, they're relationship goes from zero to sixty in like five chapters. I'm pretty lenient to shoujo manga considering it's the bulk of what I read but for this one just spare yourself the headache and the confusion and don't bother.

well, initially you might become interest, but then you become bored to death. Miku is just jealousy of Sou and Miyu relationship and that's all, because dosen't have any other motive for her fell for Sou, really. She's a stupid selfish girl, i really hated her, the entire manga she lusted after another boy who had a girlfriend and dumped her pretty decent boyfrend, that she definitely don't deserve.

Decent art.

Honestly, this story wasn't that great. I skimmed/read (more like skimmed) to the end and it was just one of those typical but terrible shoujo (no offense to others who like it). There's alot of issues with the characterizations, especially Miku. She's a pretty selfish girl, always feeling jealous of others and thinking badly of them, especially towards Miyu. I don't know why she fell in love with Sou because Sou doesn't have any attractive features and his personality was just bleh. For one, I hated her because she dumbed her boyfriend even though he was pretty nice (felt so bad for him) and lusted after another boy who had a girlfriend. But, Sou is also in the wrong. I don't mind love triangles, of course, makes it all the more interesting but this....eh, just wasn't it.

Overall, it was boring for me. The art style was nice so that kept me going as well as her other two boarders (i like them~ otaku boy haha).
