Description
[From DramaQueen]:
High school art teacher Jun Usami has loved his best friend, Ryuuta, since they were high school students. Unbeknownst to Jun, Ryuuta's younger brother, Takumi Kajiwara, has been in love with Jun since he caught Jun stealing a kiss from his sleeping brother. As fate has it, Takumi has grown into the exact image of Ryuuta. Now that Takumi is a high-schooler and Jun's student, it's the perfect chance for Takumi to get close to his 'Usa-nii'.
The wheels of fate begin to move in Takumi's favor when Ryuuta announces his engagement to a beautiful coworker. Eager to comfort Jun, Takumi rushes to Jun's side and offers himself as Ryuuta's substitute.
As though being in a love triangle is not complicated enough, Jun's ex-lover enters the scene to steal Takumi away! What will happen when Jun has to face the reality that Takumi is not Ryuuta's substitute? Enjoy!

Idk but I would like it a lot more if the seme actually explains why he likes the uke since the uke still clearly thinks that its the face that the seme likes. And I also have the very same feelings. The substitution idea left me a bad taste. He said the uke is not a substitute but he clearly was (the name calling). Also, the seme is so dense that I got really frustrated.
I can straight tell I like her style of art. She has beautiful characters. In this story... I like this kind of plots..so it really satisfied me ^.^ But again...I think if it was make in two, three or more volumes it could be even better. (but concerning this manga it's not such problem as with her other mangas which are often going too quick)
While I give credit to Minase Masara sensei for stories and storytelling, I often don't like her art... but I gotta say it was decent in this and not as distracting as other times. I really liked the story here, and even though the whole in-love-with-big-borthers-friend thing is often used in yaoi, it was still a very entertaining read and I didn't get bored at all. Liked the characters, the pacing... it's well worth reading.
Oh my that was hyper mega hotttttttt! i mean that plot is used many times to justify sexual desires but it was really well-made! OH Minase Masara sensei your hands are magical: i love your art so much! there were moments the seme was less mature than Takumi, i mean Usa-nii was totally blaming him for having sex with him! But i suppose that was a plus so we can empathize with Takumi!! I guess the appearance and set up of the former lover was rushed and obvious that's why i couldnt give this work more rating.
Honestly, I don't care if it's a cliche. As long as it's well done and keeps me interested, I could reread the same plot multiple times. I really like the art and it's pretty easy to get attached to the characters.

Example: Jun calls Takumi "Ryuuta" when they're getting it on. (As if you didn't see that coming.) I felt REALLY bad for Takumi.
So yeah, I would definitely suggest this. And it's not too long!
...and amazing characters (well, maybe I should add wonderful drawings, even if this is obvious since this is a work by Minase Masara?). This manga starts like a normal yaoi, not so original after all, but what makes this manga different from the other yaoi stories is the deepness of the main character, Takumi. I think he is one of the best characters I've ever found in a yaoi manga. Even if the plot of this manga is nice per se, I think Takumi is the strong point of "Empty Heart". While reading I could feel Takumi's feelings: his strong love and his despair, his sadness and his confusion. He is a very well developed character, that stands out from the others (anyway, every single character in this story is nice). It's not so easy to find a on-volume good yaoi manga, so I really recommend this to yaoi and shonen ai lovers.
not the most original of plots, but well executed, and holds up to rereading a few years later. was this her first published work, or did tsuganai no yukue predate it; i don't know. her art already bears her trademark prettiness. this is my second-favourite of her ouevre after uso to kiss; it's a bit depressing that the works i like best were all penned early in her career.
there's not a whole lot of character development, but there's enough information about the characters to care what happens to them. the sex isn't very graphic, which is normal for minase; it's still mildly hot.
Good generic story for one volume, just like you'd expect. I like the art and the characters (and the yaoi action ofc). Even when I'm fed up with those common high-school settings with its first-time skirmish (which this one luckily spares), I'm always up for teacher x student ones
Def. has a re-read value for me.
I now got interested in more of that mangaka's work.
make it into something special. Masara Minase has a unique style, and her guys are always beautiful. This is your basic, older brother, older brother's friend, younger brother love triangle type story (only the older brother is completely oblivious). Masara Minase manages to inject some humor into the story to liven things up. That and her gorgeous guys make this an 8 instead of a 7.
