Very good read

Intitially i was worried this would be depressing and angsty, because rarely do things go well when it involved a siblings partner, but i was pleasantly surprised. There are angsty moments but they're not 'in your face' as such, so you dont get dragged down by them, also the personalities of the characters, even during tough times in the story give it a bright edge, so you dont sink into a sense of depression. And, of course, alls well that ends well biggrin i rather liked this. It has realistic aspects as well as the general drama you come to expect in manga. It was entertaining and interesting. Well worth a read!

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Oh god i laughed at the end when they both grope Rentarou in his sleep and then he locks himself in the cupboard *snicker* His own fault for getting between them though >:D

The art is really nice, neat. I liked Fuuji, though he was totally different from what i had imagined. It really was nice specially for just a Volume. And it all turned out well in a good way
Spoiler (highlight to view)
For a moment i though they were not gonna end together, or that it was going to be in a very fast messy way, but it didnt happen. The separation from Fuuji and Moe went well in a not forced way like BAM i think i love your brother bye!, it was little hints from the first moment, that at the end made sense for themself

i havent read much of this mangaka but i still think Soul Kiss is my fav.

You like boys' true love ? Read it !
It would have been nice if the story was more longer. But the mangaka really work out to make characters that are well developped. Although fuji-san is a bit too good to be real ^_^.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
But it's not bad that at time to time the hero's happiness is not too hard to reach, don't you think so ?
A real pleasure to read !!

I have to add that the drawing is really really nice smile

the best one so far. Well-developed characters and this story actually has a much, much deeper plot then usually seen. Add beautiful artwork and see how a perfect manga is brought to life.

Beautiful artwork, wonderful plot, and characters all with their own places in the storysmile Definitly recommened. Usually I hate the short stories, but I really liked this^^
Also recommened is Kuchuu Teien, also by the same author, but much more beautiful artwork. Or could just be the characters, hahaa..

Great Potential for A Better Story, But Good As Is

The uncle! WOW! The story would have been much more punchy and intriguing with more of his involvement. He was confident, quirky and unique.

Moe and Kei, the brother and sister, had the most interesting relationship. Homerun-sensei did a fascinating study on a family that dearly loves one another even as their hearts can be broken by this same family.

I liked the way the step-mother was portrayed. It was nice for a change to see a loving, kind step-parent, who truly seemed to care about her step-children.

The character of Fujii needed more time or more succinctly chosen scenes of action and words that would pull the reader in to him. He felt flat to me. I only started to get behind a little feeling for him near the end when he started to come to realization of where his focus was...

Homerun-Sensei has a great way of balancing desperately sad, loving and completely relate-able from all character's perspectives within a single scene.

The ending was a little weak because it was average. The little clip, 'Tragedy', made up for it because it was so humorous! And at it's centre: Rintaru, of course!

In the afterwards, the mangaka, mentions how she wanted the story to go, but was persuaded otherwise from her editor; She should have followed her instincts. The artist knows! She mentions that she wanted to make it a period piece, early 20th century. And she wanted to make it a bit more bitter sweet, rather than happy-happy. I think maybe a halfway point would have been good.

The art was beautiful: Lush, big eyes. Expressive faces. Lively action. Interesting angles.

Scanlation, done by Nakama, Doki Doki and Smexy Batards, was smooth and unnoticeable - goal achieved! The focus was the story and the art, not the editing, translating and scanning!

Sweet and sad. I felt the sadness from Kei. And as he tried to keep his love a secert. This is the first full work from Homerun ken I read. I enjoyed. The art was beautiful.

I cried a little over this one. >< I really loved Kei, and I loved how deeply you could go into his thoughts and connect with him. The mangaka managed to make him a sad, lonely person without over-dramatizing his situation. I fell in love with his character, and so it was frustrating how nothing seemed to go right for him. It was especially frustrating to watch Moe, who Kei was so careful not to hurt, completely disregard Kei's feelings. But in the end, everything turned out ok. I was very happy with the resolution. Moe came to realize things for what they were, Fujii found someone he could actually love, things were somewhat bettered between Kei and his father, and, most importantly, Kei found his knight in shining armor and his love was returned. This is definitely a memorable manga.

For some reason, I suppose because the extra chapter is entitled Tragedy, I was kind of expecting this to lead up towards an unhappy ending. I was pleasantly surprised when it didn't. The main character, as everyone else has noted previously, was extremely well-developed, more so than you often see in yaoi. The artwork is lovely too, I recommend it.
