Here I scream : SHOUJO !!!
Rating: 4.0 / 10.0

This is totally a shoujo. TOTALLY. And a bad one at that.
With such a feminine uke, cliche seme, typical drawings, shallow romance and predictable development I don't know what else it can be.
I wanted some good fluff but I didn't get it. The dialogues seemed so forced and shallow they didn't make me feel anything... And the characters were so bland !!
I didn't find it "cute" nor "adorable". It was just hopelessly boring... sad
However I must admit the uke was interesting ! It was great to see him that independant, hard-working and honest. I also really liked the fact that he had a dual personality but the author didn't developped on that at all... Such a pity
Needless to say I didn't enjoy it.

Those big eyes! That oblivious look! That cute eating habits! Hana's the most insanely adorable manga character I've ever seen. He's not a realistic character, for sure, but I can't care about that as I'm rolling around in laughter at all the sweet dumb things he does.

The memorable point of this series is Hana, I think? He looks so honest and innocent and then at time he suddenly acts on his own world that is quite interesting to see ^^ I always have a soft spot for polite and silent kid, especially when they're a little weird, just so cute~

Oh and what kind of monkey that Hana always brings with? I don't like monkey but that one looks so tiny and funny~

The art isn't mine, and Hana's a bit boringly portrayed (I don't mind a silent, shy, introvert and innocent character at all but the way he is always seen with the 1 same face comes across a bit too boring for my taste) but the story is quite nice!
It's a cute plot, nothing bad happening, happy end, yay!

So far, this is my most favourite Kano-sensei piece. It is a joy, I agree, Rantipole!

Hana is such a bizarrely interesting character: he seems so vapid at times, like a puppy that stares at you blankly, but then surprises you with his fierce, sure-footed reactions. He is so matter-of-fact and unconcerned with society. He does his own thing, like sitting on a city road median --the only place with a little grass and shubbery-- for a traditional tea. God, I swooned when Takumi held him in one arm. Takumi himself was interesting with his unusual gentlemanly and diplomatic personality with all the swooning fan girls and townsfolk alike: truly a sincere charmer. He was strong and beautiful and pure hearted, but not so pure as to not identify his 'needs' *_^.

The love scenes are sweet and tender. They even gave me little butterflies and they were so...so...consensual. I was surprised, but I adored them. They were very affecting.

The art is recognizable --which I appreciate, since there are so many mangaka that blur together. The large, inverted pie-shaped heads, the huge eyes and the tiny chin of the uke all add up to be super-exaggerated, but lovely and elegant. Long limbs for both uke and seme, but broad back for the seme. Traditional but it works with this pretty story of the flower boy.

It's like a BL version of City Mouse and Country Mouse...sorta kinda. Whatever it is , it works!

A joy to read

I can't believe no one has commented on this manga -- It makes me happy every time I read it! Yes, the uke is girly, pure hearted and sweet -- but he also has a certain basic dignity that makes him totally awesome. It's the reason he gets so much respect from all the other characters (including the seme!)

If you want to be technical, the uke is a "yamato nadeshiko" -- a traditional type, with emphasis on sweetness, calm and an artistic personality. But what sets this manga apart is that we see him from the seme's point of view -- we see what's attractive about him. Instead of looking like a misfit, he comes across as independent, instinctive and honest.
Basically?
He rocks.
