I frankly can't believe that people find this an "ordinary" manga - maybe it starts off that way, but this ends up dealing with issues like sexuality, identity crises, eating disorders and other pretty heavy stuff with a kind of realism and actual INTELLIGENCE, without glossing over the ugly realities like most shoujo mangas do. And in a weird way, that is actually WHY this manga is even sweeter, because when the sweet moments come along you know what they're worth. It's like... This manga is all about how to appreciate what you've got, you know? And realize how sweet and beautiful life can be, even when it gives you lemons. biggrin

I really love this manga. It becomes more and more realistic instead of less so, which is the case with most shoujo, and it also becomes sweeter and sweeter as we realize the depth of the male lead's feelings for the girl, even if she's so at odds with herself and awkward in dealing with emotions. I like the fact that she's realistically awkward... Usually, shoujo heroines belong to extremes like being COMPLETELY comfortable and assertive with their emotions (or unrealistically so), or being on the other end of the spectrum and being super-violent or oblivious girls with no emotional delicacy whatsoever. I like this heroine because she's actually a very sensitive girl who can still kick ass and assert herself if a major moral issue is at stake. So she doesn't always occupy an extreme; she's capable of adapting to the situation like a normal person. Lol.

Two thumbs up!

I don't understand why people like this series so much. It's not too bad, but it's not good either, and has nothing special at all. And I don't think it's cute, compared to many cute & hilarious shoujo.

he confesses to her and asks her if she loves him after they have known each other for about a week? and why does she like him? i dont know. i have no clue. they hardly even know each other.
it started off promising, but then...it just went down the drain.

couldnt she have called the police about the stalker?...

okay art by my standards, but all the characters are too thin and elongated. its weird.

I've read up to the latest chapter, which is currently 10 atm. The characters in the beginning weren't anything astounding, seems to be the usual fanfare. The story has a decent pace and the 2 protagonists do develop but still nothing too great yet; though it does have it's moments. I'm going to read more before giving a rating since it seems to be getting better.

I do read more shounen mangas though so maybe it just doesn't interest me as much.

I'm up to chapter four in this series, and since I've liked it so much, I have to comment! Well, you know, it IS a shoujo, so there are cliches and those little generic moments. But other than that, this manga is awesome. It just is. It portrays high school/ previous middle school feelings and situations pretty spot on and realistically, unlike many shoujos. The characters are loveable and unique. The heroine ain't no pushover but she has weak spots and the main guy isn't some super shoujo guy who is "perfect-in-every-way-and-has-no-flaw-except-for-his-deep-love-for-the-heroine" type. He's got his flaws too.
I haven't gotten to the smutty parts yet, but from what other people here have said, it adds to the story and relationship. So! A must read for anyone who is looking for some good readin'. Oh, and it's pretty funny too. So, read Say I Love You, and fall in love too! (So corny. I know.)
P.S. I think Mei, the main character, isn't plain at all! She's not over the top pretty, but she's really cute and has a style that she rocks.

i recently pick up the manga again it really not that bad Mei's character is really not all wimpy like other shoujo females and her relationship with Yamato is really cute and simple.
@LUEser Omg Mei is not plain looking! i think she is gorgeous and i like that it tells stories of other characters makes me understand their viewpoint of things and like them more.

One of the more realistic takes on how a person falls for another and what's behind the playboy attitude. The smut was necessary for this story to really convey the message. I like the heroine's personality. But most of all, I like how the characters are fleshed out so that you can understand the reasons behind their actions. Plus, the male protagonist is a hot bishie.

There were a lot of things I didn't like about this manga; First, they could've made Mei look more prettier... The plain looks that she has was a turn-off... And also, as the manga goes on, it didn't focus on Mei and Yamato anymore... It went from them to Yamato's friends. Come on, Mei and Yamato are the MAIN characters, not his friends.

I'm not a big fan of smut or mature content, I honestly hate it because it ruins the stories so I never read smut. But this, is actually good. It has smut, but it doesn't have the annoying kind of smut like where the guy just tries to always have sex with the girl and she's all weak, naive and tries to fight him off but always gives in and shit.

And the characters, i love them. The girl is just so awesome. Her attitude and character and everything. It's different and refreshing and I like how she's strong-willed but also weak. I also like the guy too, He's nice and sweet in his own way but he has his bad sides as well. The story is cute and I like how their relationship develops along the way. Just a great story. biggrinD Art is nice too. I took a look at this author's other works, and wow, all smut and I'll say, this is the best one. biggrin

A fun and engrossing read

This is kind of like chocolate cake. So delicious, and yet so bad for you. Yes, it's cliched. Yes, it's unrealistic. A popular guy would never look or care a fig about me--and this is true for a lot of my friends. So yeah, this kind of shoujo is "evil" in that aspect, because it inspires this sort of useless hope that doesn't really get you anywhere in life, except depressed when you're not reading manga. Which yeah, doesn't really get you anywhere in life.
But it's still so fun to read. This manga, for example, makes me feel happy because their relationship develops *sooo* nicely. Every chapter has so far given me this fuzzy happy feeling, because he notices her and likes her and she starts liking him too and they're both really interesting characters and he's sooo hot.
It isn't even really smutty, which is such a relief. And dude, while the start of their relationship is cliched, the relationship itself and the buildup of their feelings isn't. Ditto a lot of things that people are saying about her not being a pushover and the male lead having vulnerabilities. It helps keep the story afloat and interesting, because we learn more about the characters with each chapter, and they're not very typical characters. Plus, they're inspiring.
I guess it's fun as long as you don't take it too seriously. In my opinion, it's better than a lot of other stuff that's out there, despite its flaws.
