A story you don't always encounter.

It's good, the art the story the plot and everything else. The love triangle is hot and I know many hate the uke for cheating and all that but for me he deserved the love, he loved the seme so much so I don't really have anything against him. I love it because the seme was strong and really loved his uke, the third party, well he's hot. Anyway I recommend this if you love love triangles and cheesy yaoi, the ending was perfect too. smile lots of love to the three of 'em ♥

I didn't like the cover art, but the actual manga art I thought was more appealing. It reminded me a little of Kodaka Kazuma's work. This manga was thought out and not just an excuse for smut (though I like those alot, haha). At the beginning of the story, I wanted it to end one way. About half way through, I wanted it to end the opposite way. A little bit later on, I didn't know what I wanted anymore; I was thinking it should maybe end with a cliffhanger! I was on the edge of my seat, anxious to find out the outcome! I thought it ended a bit abruptly, though. Maybe I just wanted to see more lovey-dovey stuff going on afterwards to feel satisfied, since all the loose ends were tied up. Overall, it was a great read that I got really involved in!

The story was good. I kind of disliked the main character Kou a bit, but he grows on you I guess. Ao was by far my favorite. Overall it was good.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I like the fact that Ao ended up with him, but it seemed like the only reason Kou chose him was out of pity. Not only that but he kept saying he loved Mikuni till the very end. I believe you can only love one person at a time, so I kind of hated that. His reasons for choosing Kou did not convince me that he deserved him. It seems like he chose based on who needed him, instead of who he needed. I just wish he had said he chose him because he loved him as opposed to Mikuni.

Anyways, hopefully I made sense, but definitely a good series.

Frustrating, but in the end I liked it

This manga is very "grown up" in its sensibilities. By this I mean if you're looking for an idealized, twu luv 4evah! teenage fantasy, then go read Twilight. The manga questions the notion of destiny, and asks whether happiness can still be reached in a future one might not necessarily have chosen for him/herself: can second-chance loves be just as good, if not better, than supposed true loves? Rather than a conventional love triangle featuring three single people, Koi no Tsumeato is ultimately the story of two people (Ao and Kou) in an imperfect relationship who have that relationship tested in the most extreme way by a third party (Mikuni). Which seme you prefer will ultimately come down to what you think of Ao and Kou's relationship, whether there is enough between them that you think they should fight and stick it out, or whether it's best for them to let go and try for other things.

Besides the plot of the manga, I can also, to an extent, praise its characters. They have a bit more psychological realism than one typically finds in a yaoi manga. The problems in Kou and Ao's relationship stem from problems they have as individuals--Ao lacks confidence in his ability to make Kou happy, a problem exacerbated by Kou's cheating ways and Mikuni's presence. Kou, on the other hand, has grown to depend on Ao as his strength, a weakness which causes him to take Ao for granted in the extreme. Mikuni honestly isn't as well developed as Ao and Kou, and reads like the sledgehammer of the situation. While Ao and Kou spend the manga puzzling their way through their feelings and struggling to figure out themselves, each other, and what they really want, Mikuni doesn't bother much with self-reflection and heedlessly charges forward, attempting to get what he wants at whatever cost.

Which brings me to the bad of this manga: also its characters. To an extent, they are all unlikeable, particularly the main character, Kou. Kou simply cannot keep his pants on. In the first chapter, he cheats on Ao within minutes of promising him over the phone that he won't cheat on him again. Kou is an emotional weakling, and his problems with one seme have a tendency to drive him into the arms of the other--pathetic behavior that lasts until the final chapter. (Watching him snuggle up to one seme when he knew he wanted the other was infuriating.) Worst of all, Kou never takes responsibility for all the damage caused by his actions. Mikuni, on the other hand, I found to be unlikeable for the shameless way he pursues Kou throughout the story, and because he is never once bothered by the fact that Kou already has a lover, or that Kou has a history of cheating. (Mikuni must think it will be different with him, because he is just that awesome.) And finally, there's Ao, who was easily my favorite character in the manga. Unfortunately, Ao spends so much time debating what he should do about his situation with Kou that it nearly derails the plot of the manga. If Ao hadn’t spent so much time thinking and wondering, there might have been two volumes to this series instead of three. Overall, however, there’s a lot more good here than bad. I recommend you check it out, just keep an open mind about the characters.

First off, I felt that this story was well written (most probably because the manga I read before this was just horribly written). The characters all were 3 dimensional and their feelings were all realistic and how they acted upon it.

A lot of people complain about Kou because he's a cheater and such, but honestly he's a man and men just can't keep it in their pants. Of course, that doesn't mean I'm saying it okay to cheat just because you're a man. If anything I hate cheaters, but I just couldn't hate Kou. I think the reason he kept cheating was because Ao always forgave him. Perhaps, Kou really wanted Ao to finally get angry or something. He wanted to see how far Ao's unconditional love would go.
The other hypothesis is that Kou was subconsciously looking for Mikuni.

Whatever the case, people also seem to hate Kou's indecisiveness. But, honestly how can you hate him about that. He lost his memory and to suddenly gain it all back doesn't mean he'll turn 180 and forget about everything that has happened in the present. How he acted about it was all reasonable and realistic.

Now what I really love about this manga was that it wasn't as predictable as other love triangles. From others you can already tell who's going to get with who from the cover art and the manga-ka's bias (I should say). However, Koide in this one tried to give us the perspective of each character and enough screen time for each so that it wouldn't be one sided.

I hat love triangles! And this story takes them all. I cried for the last threes chapters straight. Although, let's face it. I didn't really read it. Seeing those two together was really painful so I wasn't about to put myself through them making out and Kou just having all his fun without thinking about what he's doing to Ao. At one point he assures Mikuni that Ao doesn't know about them, which just makes it all the more wrong. I hate cheaters! And Mikuni isn't innocent in this! Just because you were lovers in the past, doesn't mean you get to be a home wrecker. How can you trust someone to be faithful to you if they willingly cheat on their current lover? I just don't understand that type of person's thinking. They don't deserve to be happy! I felt so bad for Ao. And I hated the ending! Ao deserves a lot better in life. The only reason I even finished the story was because I hoped and wished that Ao would get closure and was able to move on from the piranha that is Kou. I still get really emotional about it whenever my thoughts wander and end up on this story.

they all crossed my mind, but i still dont find Kou annoying(most of the time) and i want him and Ao to end up together(most of the times) Lol. Really this and that happens, they never really say what they should so they end up making the other party confused. I just think the mangaka is trying to please those who are hoping for mikuni to end up with kou and those who wants Ao instead.
It surely is a mess, but i dont hate the manga nor the characters.
Kou should get a hold of himself and make up his mind once and for all
what i just dont want is for time to pass by and just right when Ao is in the church getting married, him to decide and stop it bcz Ao is the one he wants, or have "too much" fun with mikuni and then leaving him heart broken... and so many other things that could happen...

EDIT
so i just finished reading this... and it was fine. I didnt really hate it, i thought for a sec it was goign to suck
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
when kou said "i love you" to mikuni, well not really but he said i do after mikuni asking if he loved him

but besides that it was a bit just a little tiny bit rushed and cheesy *sigh* hahahahha but it was alright, i liked it very much lol

Difficult plot but not satisfying ending

This story was started quite interesting and the triangular love added some spice to it. I must say Koide-sensei choose a very difficult plot, on whether Kou should end up with Ao, whom he had spent most of his love-life with, or Mikuni, whom he was initially in love with. It will be unfair if Kou ended up with Ao since Ao snatched him from Mikuni, but Ao had given all of his love to Kou. However, the story developed quite disappointing as Kou being so indecisive. I feel sorry for both Ao and Mikuni though.. sad

Argh! I hate that good-for-hating uke! He's expecting to be trusted even though he's a major cheater!!! Definitely NOT my type of plot. I'm so depressed~

Spoiler (highlight to view)
I believe that actually the reason Kou keeps cheating and also the reason Ao withstands it is because it is in somehow the way Kou’s subconscious found to manifest themselves and reveal his wanting for Mikuni (the lover from his lost memories) and try to regain not just that person but what had been left behind - thus this events happen when he’s drunk which is when one’s consciousness is more severely affected by our inner desires. And Ao knows that since *I think* he refers to people that look like Mikuni as being “Kou’s type” so he is well aware of this fact which –combined with his own guilt- is probably also one of the reasons that make him so unsure of their relationship. (though I was a little pissed that he kept wishing for Ao’s trust when he hadn’t done much to deserve it).
But this doesn’t mean by all means I agree with his cheating it simply means that I understand the reasons behind it.

So I don’t actually think Kou’s annoying but rather he’s actually a deep characters that is torn apart by a lost past that has been dug up and by his the current present that is suddenly invaded by the past and as such he finds himself rather confused not only regarding the two men but also confused about himself and his feelings towards them.
I mean, wouldn’t you be if you suddenly discovered your past had been hidden from you and then suddenly got slapped in the face by a bunch of emotions you didn’t even knew were there? I damn as hell would.
Anyway despite liking both semes I somehow always find myself rooting for Ao and my heart actually ached for him several times along the story. Though I realise Ao’s love for Kou is such a selfish one it can also be so selfless at times and in the end it just makes me hurt each time his heart just seems to shatter.
*sighs* Like always there’s a huge gap of communication between the characters and they don’t understand each other’s feelings. But hey, it’s guys so… yeah. Bound to happen. *chuckle*
In the end I think this is a really good manga that stirs up the reader’s emotions one way or another.
