So Much Potential
was shown within the first chapters, but the idiots at Shueisha (or the readers in Japan) were too stupid to recognize how great this could've become. Read it even with the axed ending, read it even though it's only 23 chapters long. Komi-sensei is an amazing mangaka that has so much talent yet unnoticed. It was a sad day when Double arts was cut from SJ.
It's absolutely criminal that Jump cut this one short. The editorial board should've been flogged through the streets for their gross stupidity. But Jump has always been stupid in that regard, it comes from paying far too much attention to postcard polling. Jump has awesome new manga scouting skills, but atrocious management of the same.
kidsoshi was entirely correct
While not exactly fulfilling the ending seemed to answer the big questions, and it was a really good story to read while it laster... this and another story I read about aa dude being forced to dress as a chick and go to a demon school make me think publishers/editors have horrible taste... I've seen absolute crap series drag out for 30 volumes, meanwhile gems like this are cancelled..... it was a great loss but no reason to downgrade the rating, 10/10.
A great manga that deserves better
Ever since the first chapter, Double Arts was one of the few mangas that was not only original, but it had a complex plot that had so many questions with very few answers.
The characters stand out with amazement and lots of development were seen at such a good pace, but most of all, the storyline was the main reason why I started to read this manga in the first place.
Sadly, it seems that most WSJ readers (in Japan), didn't find this intriquing like some did, and seemingly had the series canceled on purpose, not giving it or the author a chance to flesh it out more.
Despite this, however, I see a good future for Naoshi Komi. If memory serves correctly, Tite Kubo has his first manga series, Zombie Powder, with not so satisfactory results, but did well the second time with Bleach. I'm confident that Naoshi Komi would do exactly the same thing with his next project.
I've read 3 chapters of this. It's got good art (clear and well-drawn, but also with lively facial expressions and characterization) and character designs which are more unique than my first impression assumed them to be.
As for the story's content, right now it's mostly just a fun narrative. By the way, I was misled by people talking about "romance", at this stage it's just a bunch of silly awkward conversations, with only one or two blushes (the girl only IIRC)... pretty much all of it based off the dynamic of a girl+boy forced to hold hands.
The background story hasn't really been fleshed out, it's more of a rough sketch at this point. The "serious aspects" of the story (like life/death situations) don't have a lot of drama associated with them, at least not at this point, it's more like "Oh, no! What do we do? Somehow we were just able to make it! Whew." Not a whole lot has happened so far in the story with respect to the story's main plot, but a lot of small incidents have occurred in rapid sequence. At the story's current state, there are a lot of unknowns with respect to the plot, so it's difficult to be able to make a statement about the potential for future plot development.
As far as character potential: Elraine has an emotionally complex past, and her past experiences have been referenced once or twice; Kiri's seems like he's just had an ordinary, fairly nice life up to the present... but the manga is strongly hinting that there's something special about him, and it seems like he's keeping secrets and trying to downplay himself. Hmm.
So far this manga has just been a cute and entertaining story, but it has the potential to change rapidly, especially with the recent introduction of a character who I get the feeling has a personality that will stir things up.
i think it was pretty normal
considering that most shounen mangas span 10+ volume; and some start out lousy before they becoming better later; i think this manga was pretty decent, the story didn't advance too much or far which can leave a lot of open question and it wasn't too slow either it gave hints of the main plot and ended with one obstacle being overcome, which it didn't make tt seem that it was rush, if anything i though great they finish one journey now what is next? i didn't expect it to some kind of a dream sequence of someone writing it any it was nice how it was ended as as story that was being writen another character; at least this this manga could stand alone as a prologue; if the authors gets pickup by another publishing company and he can expand on the idea. i read all type of mangas and eventhough one has to wonder how can two people fight together stick together that was original; at least it answer such thing as how do you go the toilet, how do you shower while holding hand lol

How on earth..?
How on earth could manga have been canceled? I completely loved it. It's only fault is it's abrupt ending. I pray the mangaka will continue this. I still gave it a rating of 10 just to support it. The production company made a huge mistake in canceling this. It was sweet and funny and unique. The mangaka still did a pretty good job to end it given the little notice she/ he had.
TOTAL SUCKERPUNCH TO THE BALLS
OMGGG not againnn!!! I started reading double arts yesterday from chp1-11 and i stopped because i thought to myself "this is a good manga and very original too...i should hold onto it until 20-30 chapters so that i can enjoy reading the rest of the chapters" but HELL NO it was short lived!!! when i just found out today that double arts was cancelled i felt that my balls were completely crushed by the hand of the japanese people. The same thing happened to Mx0 too.
Please (T.T).....to anyone who is very close to the japanese manga community out there i really wish that this manga is to be continue further!! i hope the petition linked by zachd06 will help WSJ to realise that people outside of japan loves Double Arts. I feel sorry for the author..its a shame that his/her original artwork is being cancelled due to low ratings...oh man japanese people really are perverted thats why mangas like to-love-ru still exists because its so much fan service....nowadays mangas with lotsa fan-service and very obvious cliched storyline are bound to survive till the end.I really dont get it.
*edited* Oh and btw about the petition thingy how will it reach the japanese people?? Will they ever try to understand english or even read it?? From my past experience living in japan...there are the type of people who "lived in their own world" with exceptions to the gaming and sports industry that is...but things like this i doubt they will even bother unless you breathe the same air as them or unless you are a super-duper celebrity from hollywood or a football star...anyway sorry for being political heh =)

thus far this had been a good read
its name doesnt give it much hype in my opinion but the story once read seems to catch my interest. i like both the mains chars they seem to fit each other well. arts well done, refreshing plot. over all i liked it so check it out
the only manga i could say this resembles is b shock but theirs a the big diff in plot
A original premise, great art, and a plot that looks like it will branch out to be one day an epic. Makes this series more than any other shounen series out at the moment have the largest potential.
