Unique little coming of age

It's a rather nice, short, and easy to read little melodrama. Takemiya Keiko's art and presentation is absolutely gorgeous as always and Natsu is a joy to look at. While I don't think this one's anything super revolutionary per se, it sort of stands out to me in that I think that a lot of people go through similar things as Marion, but I don't see characters addressed like him very often. He's cynical and even condescending, but he very much falls prey to the very traits that he desperately tries to convince himself and others that he's above. He comes to hurt himself and others, albeit arguably indirectly, by trying to repress and leave the feelings of himself and others unaddressed. All in all, I like this one quite a bit.

well, i can say it was a good interpretation of an adolescent kind of love, full of naivety and foolishness. It wasnt supposed to be that 'dramatic' as the others said. I mean, the thing about claude, the affair with sara and the girl (forgot her name), it was over dramatic. loved the ending, realistic one. I put this off for like a year and regret not having read it before.

A somewhat tragic love story...

Well, I guess the story is a bit tragedic. I guess that's what happens when you've children trying to be adults and who don't fully understand the value of a human life. And then, add in adults who just don't care what the consequences of their actions are, well... you've got the makings of a tragedy.

This is the second time I've read this story and I still really enjoyed it. smile And I loved that the mangaka used the various incidents in the story to comment about life, adolescence, being adult and ultimately, about love. I also like how the story wasn't afraid to deal with death, no matter how drastic that might've seemed.

this is just too much for me everything is just exaggerated to make it more dramatic! i mean.. well yeah this maybe be heart wrenching back in the days but i wont consider it heart wrenching right now! everything was just! exaggerated and over the top! i mean of course the main boy has to be pretty.. and of course he has to have a friend who has feelings for him and of course the girl that all the other boys love have feelings for him as well but what the fuck? is this really all you could make of this! this could have been a beautiful story but now it just irks me! and the characters were just all cry babies and whats up with Marion's clothes always getting teared apart and he looks like a girl and they all look alike! Lind and Claude! gawd if only i have something better to do i wont dedicate time in reading this! give me back the 75 pages that i have read! damn it!

ok maybe i should give this thing a break because its written in the 70's so fine.. here goes my rating 5/10 i added 3 for my love of historical mangas..

Fast paced, but beautiful.

Quite an interesting story which entertained psychological attributes in which an older woman seduces a young fourteen year old male and the derangements in which young love can produce as well as societies judgments in that period.
I found myself empathizing with Marion’s friend which had sexual orientation problems, and thought it heart-wrenching how he felt like he was evil.
The art was really appealing; the faces above average side. Marion is drawn attractively, and even though the bodies and clothes were drawn typical of older shoujo at that time, I thought the faces were beautiful.
My only quam about this manga, is that like a lot of the other older works I’ve read, the story line works on a faster pace, and I am not all together sure the mangaka did a superior job on spreading it out more on the panels. I think it would have been much better if it had been more spaced out, and less important story line spaced on one page. Nevertheless, maybe there was a page limit, since it was a one shot?
Anyway, I recommend this as long as the person does not mind a fast paced story…

really nice short story...charged with emotion...it doesn't seem dated...it is a classic.
plus it certainly doesn't have the boring cliches of the shounen-ai genre since shounen-ai wasn't established yet back then..heh bigrazz...obvious!
