I often finish off manga horror stories thinking, "Wait... This was supposed to be scary?" Well, these aren't really scary... but they're definitely creepy and a bit disturbing in spots. They could've definitely been better, but they could've also been MUCH worse. Bottom line is, I enjoyed reading this compilation - which is something I can't say about most of the horror manga I've tried.

A collection of fair to good horror tales. Here there be ghosts, witches, demons, and doppelgangers to entertain and frighten you. The stories vary in quality, but all are easy reads. You won't feel bogged down by a story you don't like. I especially enjoyed "Haunted Afternoon" and "My Place in the World", both of which have great surprise endings. The art varies a little, but the style is fairly similar in all. This style doesn't work well for horror stories, IMHO, but it didn't stop me from enjoying the stories. Overall the quality of art is fair, and very good in some stories. The scariness factor of the volume is medium-low, and nothing terribly shocking happens. Even so, you can expect at least one of the stories will make you feel creepy. Recommended for fans of horror, and for readers who just want something quick and not too intense.
