Translation ruined it.

It seems like a pretty lame typical shoujo. It's farfetched and pretty stupid and seems like it has a pretty terrible plot in general. To make it even worse the translation gets progressively worse to the point where you can't even figure out what it's meant to mean. Characters names are mixed up and sometimes just replaced with xx. It might've got better later on but I gave up on it.

Drama ^^

When I started reading this I found some of the situations to get overly dramatic, but as you read through the volumes you get used to it and you can enjoy the story. The main female character hasn't got the strongest or best - developed personality, but she is not as air - headed as several other female characters of shoujo manga, being consistent with her feelings and not falling into other male character's games.

Some (just some) of the situations were a bit farfetched. Life is complicated and has several turns that you don't expect, like loosing your parents, or parents wanting you to marry someone in particular that you don't like, or having a fellow student sort of forcing you his feelings on you in an almost-rape way. But they usually don't happen all at once and to the same people. But this is manga, so it is interesting.

The cliffhangers at the end of the volumes were really good, dramatic enough for you to feel like you couldn't leave the story there but keep on reading, at least, the first chapter of the next volume.

If you don't mind clichés and a bit of drama in you shoujo manga and like student x teacher relationships and love triangles, I would probably recommend this story.

I actually liked it very much even though it was very typical. I think the sensei was still the better choice even though he seemed a bit wish washy but we need to consider his background that was probably the reason why he was like that and the fact that he was her teacher.

Crappy TL took any enjoyment

I put it on hold for now (will finish it later when I can be arsed or find a better TL), so my opinion up till end of vol 3:

Our heroine here is a typical fictional shoujo character who fell in love with a teacher at first sight (or more second sight, but still practically instantly) and joins the basketball club to be close to him and all sort of things incl. artificially raised dramas.
I don't mind generic stories and developments but this is presented more unrealistically than usual for its genre and with poorly introduced characters. It continues quite shallow. So don't expect something great or very good. After the 1st volume it got better and something developed between the teacher and his student by vol 3.

The only person I sympathized with was Taiji, the loser in the love triangle. His two sides were more interesting.

The TL of Esthétique had many mistakes, some big ones, like giving Okino the name of Taiji, replacing many names by mere 'xx' (couldn't they have done an online search for the names if their translator fked it up? -.-), forgetting words, awful grammar, turning sentences into the right opposite of what they meant or use words that make no sense. You kinda have to figure stuff out yourself by considering the context and pictures than trust in the TL.
Esp. the name replacement ruined most entertainment for me.

Nekohana did a good job.

The art of the characters is acceptable, but the backgrounds were partly very ugly. Looked like photos forced through photoshop's filters and cleaned half-heartedly -.-

This manga-kas work is always the same story with just different characters and different reasons why the two characters can't be together. So when ever you see which male character that the heroine has a thing for you at once know its going to be that guy she ends up with no question about it. I wish she'd change the formula and do some thing different, also I detest the art its just ugly, the girls mainly the boys are ok but ew its too sketchy and messy for my liking. I'll admit that this one is better then the horrible hot gimmick art and the lead male was more likable despite the stupid teacher x student scenario. Overall nothing new nothing special honey hunt has a better story line hence its licensing.

This story would had been better if there were not su much drama all the way to almost the very end. The art is good and i was actually glad she ended up with the one she did because i really did not like the other one.....of course there was that other woman character that i wanted to strangle a bit but oh well it ended on a good note all around.

It's horrible. I felt like i was reading a bunch of non-sense. The relationship btw the student and teacher was sooo farfetched. I actually think the other dude fits her much much better. Above all, the main character is a naive, immature, stubborn girl. Not recommended.

Typical shoujo plot, typical love triangles, typical characters, typical in everyway and yet it doesn't mean it's not entertaining. It's a good read to pass the time, I guess, but I wouldn't call it very good or a master piece.
If you like student/teacher relationships then this is a good manga for you.
