Description
Sakurakouji Sakura is a girl who appears modest and graceful but in reality is skilled in martial arts. After witnessing a boy burning people with his blue flame, she is startled to see that the same boy is a transfer student, Oogami Rei. Oogami is a Code Breaker, one who "does not exist". He is a seemingly cold-blooded killer who follows the principle of "an eye for an eye", to "use evil against evil". Convinced that killing is not right, Sakurakouji sets out to stop him and penetrate his icy heart.

Avoid this for your own sake

I stumbled upon the anime several years and, though certainly flawed, found it to be enjoyable enough that I would consider it a "hidden gem." It was just enjoyable enough that the cliffhanger the anime ends with gave me the desire to continue on with the manga. What a mistake that was. This manga just gets progressively more and more asinine, silly, cliched, yet somehow uniquely dumb.

I would say "just watch the anime" but the anime just makes you want to continue the story and will no doubt lead you here, only to find the same disappointment awaiting you that I just wrote about. Better skip this series altogether.

A broken mess.

It started out fine. Nothing spectacular. The humor (at least the visual gags) were pretty alright throughout, but the story was hindered a lot by the author's cowardice, which is a common trait in mangaka. Couple that with a clichéd story that grew progressively nonsensical with every arc (another common trait among authors that don't plan their story), and the end-product isn't something I could ever recommend to someone that wants a quality read.

only good at beginning

This is the kind of manga, that story anchor a LOT on past there's a manga like that but good author usually realize that it wont make the story good so they will abandon that secret past and move on, but some(a lot) are not good enough to do or even realize that fault, Code breaker is in that category.

First of all, the whole secret past and amnesia is stupid not only its strange how miraculous it is that both of MC are not remembering anything, the other character who know also trying to hide it without any good reason, seriously this author is desperate to hide thing just so the series can stay longer. This make the story extremely boring and when they reveal it, it doesn't make thing better because you know what it just didn't make sense for any of them to hide it, and the MC also doesn't seems want to try to pursue it.

Next was the character it was all good in the beginning the guy was cool, and the girl was innocent so its normal when you don't want someone killed, but later on it get annoying the girl literally forcing her ideal to other while she never once try to understand others, I meant her friend almost get killed by bad guy and yet she say she doesn't want the bad guy killed and just let them go, wow if I have friend like that I'm gonna leave them in heartbeat she doesn't care about friends near them only care about the bad guy. Other worse thing is enemy/ally can switch so easily and get away with it, and other people just have to put up with it, it was so annoying.

Later the character progress, the girl pretty much stay the same, the guy became mushy, buhuu I can't be with her because I'm evil, oh god get over it okay.

For other aspect everything was average just like typical shounen other people who died are just a fooder, if the character has been in 10 or so chapter then you can be sure it will never died.

Good for a shonen.

I started this when it first came out and followed it weekly for about 2 or 3 years, but either I got older, or my taste got better, or the manga just deteriorated, whatever the reason I stopped reading it. Recently I decided to go back and try again not its complete. Firstly, it's a lot more tolerable when a single fight doesn't take 5 weeks to get through. Secondly, I find the character interactions humorous and very interesting. That's a big plus. The back story could be better I felt.
SPOILER
It lost plausibility in its attempts to ensure that none of the heroes were truly to blame for the massacre, which stopped making sense once the egotistical emperor was revealed to have been mislead by the true big bad.

One thing that bothered me was how Sakura was initially introduced as a cool beauty with black belt level martial arts skills, and then she failed to actually use any of her training at all after about chapter 5. What was the point in her having them then?

As with every shonen this manga suffers from the typical cliches of super quick power ups, totally random training arcs, overly emotional displays of friendship and unity, lots of rather hypocritical declarations of saving people and valuing life (from a bunch of underworld assassins), and no one actually dying from their life threatening wounds.

In general though, as a shonen, I found it far more enjoyable the second time around when I wasn't forced to wait for updates. It's not the greatest mange ever written, but it's worthy of being a light read. Overall I would rate it a 5 or 6, but since it fits the target demographic well, and I'm feeling generous, I'm giving it an 8.

Code:Breaker started off really good. But like with all stories that drag on for more than the plot needed, it lost its initially theme and original idea, and became a like a carbon copy of any shounen with the additional detriment of a confusing plot. To be honest, I only read as far as I did because of the fan service between Oogami and Sakura.

Okay... but...

I enjoy this manga, but there are a few setbacks.

At first, I thought that Ogami was a bit too much of a bada**, but his character does get a bit more realistic (as realistic as it gets with him throwing flames around and such). But the character I dislike the most is Sakura. Oh, don't get me started with her pep talks- it happens so much and tbh, if I was watching people about to kill each other, my first instinct would be to get the hell out of there. So I didn't really like Sakura at the start- nor do I now... And yes, the storyline is rather predictable...

But it's the odd characters and Yuuki's love of Nyanmuru that draws me into this manga. The weird, but relatable characteristics of the characters and the fast pace of events (although I hope it won't get toooooo fast O.o) makes it enjoyable to read. The art itself is well created, hence the rating of 7/10, not 6 or 5/10.

I haven't finished this manga yet, and if I have a different opinion by the time I finish, I would update this comment.

This will be a very poor review because i really don't know what i just read, i can't collect my thoughts. The first arc, about 100chps, they were pretty good, well if i didn't like it in the begining i wouldn't have continued reading it. After that it just got a lot more complicated, introduced a lot of things, not one of them explained properly and i am still very confused by it all. I tend to pile up chps and then read it in a bunch, so for the last 50+ chps that i had left, in every one of those there was something "major" discovered. So talk about messy and trying to comprehend all that information that didn't make sense, that was trying to be incorporated into the current story which was already pretty messy and difficult to understand.
And the ending, the f? I just can't, im too much wtf-ing with this, it's my first time that a manga gave me so much questions above the head. Not even Air gear watered down its story as much...

Initially I was not interested in the manga that element of violence. However, this is different from the code breaker. any manga character has an important role even though they are side characters but they are pretty big role and relating to one another. Difficult to predict the movement of each character. As loyal readers of this manga, I really looking forward to the continuation of Sakurakouji Sakura's determination pandora box.
Hopefully a quick release in the near future.

I wish I could give this manga a negative rating. The girl is so self righteous and kept forcing her belief on others. I've read a lot of manga and this girl take the top spot for the MOST annoying ignorant b*tch. I swear if I meet such person in real life I would slap her face HARD. One character enough to make me (a manga addict) to drop a series. I can't like her, I won't like her and I can't even ignore her. I've never wish for a manga character to die so bad.

I found this one day when I was looking for a new anime to watch. Good thing I decided to read the manga first because the anime sucks. Anyway, once I read the first chapter, I was immediately hooked and read non-stop for a week until the most recent chapter releases. It has definitely climbed up to the number one spot for me. I like that it's really dark and instead of the usual good vs evil, it's evil vs evil. And the fateful December 32 adds a lot of mystery to the story and was what captivated me in the first place.

The manga has amazing art and character design. The comedy is hilarious and to me, doesn't get in the way of the story. Action scenes are plenty and is the focus of this manga. It only gets more and more intense as the story progresses due to the characters development of additional powers and introduction of stronger "enemies". There's a lot of character development as more of everyones' past get revealed. The focus changed from why they become code breakers to why they stay code breakers. The only complaint I have is Sakura. Her character is a real disappointment and annoying as hell. Her only real purpose so far is softening Ogami's character.

Anyway I'm on chapter 221 (the most recent one out) and I'm curious to see where Kamijyo is going with the story. For the last 200+ chapters, the story has been centered around Pandora's Box and December 32. I'm really uncertain as to how the plot would develop beyond this arc as there haven't been too much hints to how it would progress.

But aside from this, I highly recommend this manga. It has all the elements of a good manga: mysterious past, locked memories, hidden abilities and powers, hilarious humor, tiny bit of romance and lots of great action.
