Description
Teacher Hisoka wakes up to find that he has died and is now inhabiting the body of the student he tried to save. This is due to the interference of a monk, who informs him that he cannot tell anyone who he really is or the bond between him and his "new" body will break and he will die for real. Hisoka chooses to retain his memories despite the monk's warning that it will cause trouble....No doubt it will, since Hisoka is the type who cannot pass someone in trouble without trying to help!

Drags on

I feel like it should have ended with X sacrificing her life to bring back Y to life. I find all of those detective, search mission and the appearance of adept monks pretty cumbersome to sit through. Other than that, the art was totally pleasing; the characters were sometimes drawn with long, round chin but those made them cuter.

Oh god, some rare romance shounen manga!

Like Parasyte (1988), this one is also very good.

Story wise, it was pretty fast paced and yet it also took time to show how slow burn romance (not ecchi for sure) with comedy and supernatural went. Not too long, nor too short, perfectly well balanced. At some point, I worried about how Hisoka had detective cases which would have dragged this simple story far more unnecessarily but Yagami apparently knew it well enough to keep it simple and straightforward with very few related ones to highlight about, so I had a major relief learning about it.

Aesthetic wise, it looked neat and aesthetically pleasing but damn why do I keep mistaking it as some 1986 manga or smth when in fact it was 1990s thanks to those cute fashion outfits they wore lmao, yeah their 1990s hairdos tho lmao.

Character wise, well developed characters. Handsome, ballsy and happy go lucky Hisoka as the MC. Sweet girl, Rito, as his gf. Shounen adventure with grumpy old fart and eccentric grandma whose film induced codes as part of the game? Check. Wimpy character Gengorou? Check. Strong woman like Takako, Alral (you know who 😉), Chinami, and um, ladylike Shiharu? Check. Soft hearted Udou? Check. Money oriented girl, Mikaru? Check. And lastly but not the least, interesting second male lead like Yuuji and Kabu. Cute cat like Ruriruri with his gf whose dad is Hitler cat at the end of this series? Check. Character development was great, man, I loved them all.

Color me surprised, upon learning the fact that this has yet have anime version all this freaking time, not that i am fond of anime but still.

i dont normally read shounen, but the two volumes that were availiable were amazing. they made me laugh and cry, and i could really feel for characters in both sides. and unlike most shounens ive come across, theres no ecchi and the male lead isnt wimpy... its just a realistic story with an original plot. love it!

Mini Review of Sorts

A touching storyline (don't let the light moments of humor sprinkled throughout fool you) saved this book and kept me reading, because honestly, the artwork didn't stand out, be it costumes or the character features. The story, however, makes this a definite keeper for me.

See how "Romance" is also listed under "Genre"? That's because the little description at the top of this page neglected to mention Hisoka's relationship with Rito.

Rito became a teacher because of Hisoka. In his new body and role as a student, he's determined to win Rito over again, but of course, it's not easy when she loves Hisoka and she doesn't know this strangely persistent teenager is actually him. Throw in the age gap and the fact that she's now his teacher...
