Disappointing

Well, I've officially abandoned this one, quite sadly. I started out reading it and I felt like it was going to be good. I'm disappointed. I love the art. Love it. But the plot could use work. It's pretty much cliche at the start. I thought it was going to have a more linear plot, more about the necklace and curses and whatever. But, alas, it was very episodic. It even got to the point where they just were jumping the shark and moving on to cliche events and situations.

I like the boy selection. They're each very cute/handsom and unique (in the cliche way), and the art makes them droolworthy. Anise isn't that great of a heroine. Stubborn, apparently attractive (?) and annoyingly kind of bitchy.

The plot shriveled up like a rose in space and I can't even consider it a "light and fun" read. It's trying so hard to be epic and amazing, but not even the humor or little TINY bits of romance can make up for it's fail.

I see...

I can tell there's a lot of hate going on, which I guess is because of the lack of originality compared to this and other "romance" quoooota quote mangas. I don't agree to everything about this, because overall, it was not too bad. Don't let the "harem" idea bias your view... until you actually read it.

The art is good. One look at a page, and you can see the fluidity of how everything goes. Do not be flown away by the art, though, until you get a good look at how the story line starts out.
Art: 10/10
The plot line starts out uncertain and slow, pacing back and forth with the same concepts but not getting to the point. All of a sudden, big things start hitting them, and you get sprung into some kind of huge chaotic mess. It changes the main goal of the main character, if there was any to begin with.
Plot: 3/10
It's funny, really, it is. But the main character, Anis, or Agnese, is so FAKE. I apologize, but in the latest chapter she was extremely stupid. She has a prominent personality, promising at first, but really flat out horrible. The four other boys that are in/falling in love with her, easily said, are square characters. Don't expect much change except for probably one... and even if he changes, it will only be a slight bit. Expect all the colors of the rainbow to show up... read it to find out.
Char. Dev.: 1/10 Character art: 10/10
It's fun, it's nice, and the art is a joy to read. I would recommend this to someone who would like a semi-serious manga, but if you'd like to snuggle up for a sweeping romantic, or a REALLY awesome fantasy supernatural, Ms. Rose Princess isn't for you.

I'd say it was okay. Usually I don't read this type of stuff, but I tried it 'cause I thought that art was good. A bit fast-paced, yeah, but not as bad as some of the reviews make it sound (although, that's probably becuase I didn't really take this seriously...)

It was kind of a letdown--the main character annoyed me to hell, and the dudes didn't have much character development. It's a good time-waster, but I wouldn't reccommend it to someone actually LOOKING for a good manga. .__.

Generic Shoujo Mashup
by Night_Rain

Rating: 7.0  / 10.0
Read up to ch. 14. I really wanted to like it but it was the most generic manga I have ever read (and for the first time that means a lot to me and this is like my second time writing a review). Some of the situations they were in were also just too silly.

1) choker/charm/amulet that is used for protection (what protection? from what punishment? betrayal and losing the Rhode Knights? I still don't really know)
2) male harem that sparkles (they are drawn very beautifully but sometimes I could only take so much sparkle by then I only see them as very superficial when you've seen the same thing done in Ouran, Hanasakeru Seishounen, Angelique, Kiniro no Corda)
3) female lead must chose a guy to marry because of contract
4) talking mascot (I'm very sorry and I don't mean to offend the translators but his lingo is too "foreign" to like)
5) finding items to reinstate something that was lost or broken (seen it in Inuyasha, Card Captors, and Tsubasa Reservoir Chornicles) <-- this is actually the driving plot element that I dislike the most when I've seen it so many times
6) devil/demon that will destroy the world

Random side comments: Anise's character design makes me think of Taiga from Toradora -___-, the humor seems very forced and goofy (though I will admit that I did laugh at some of them "wtf? lol"), first time that I've seen a father enemy to the female lead (usually they are overprotective or like to coddle/dote on them), the use of roses/rose thorns are overdone but I guess not having the roses would defeat the purpose of "Kiss of Rose Princess"

Boring

The manga has good art, and if I read solely for that this manga could be read the whole way through. The sad part is I don't and, even though I hate stopping a manga halfway through, I'm done reading this one. The storyline is nothing I haven't seen before, it's a harem where the main girl in the story uses cards to summon 1/4 guys to her aid. They each have unique powers etc. Basic cliche elements in any story, the structure of the manga is nothing new.

For the most part, the story just seems dry....you have no truely memorable scenes in it. The only real part that you get close to this is when she first meets each of these guys, but after that you may get 1 or two but again it's not rlly anything impressionable. The storyline is completely unstructured, as someone else said... it's as if the creator doesn't know what is gonna happen next themself. The foreshadowing you get.... is not a hint as is normal it more less just leaves you going "....huh? what're you talking about?" leaving you kind've wondering wth they meant. If you've read a decent amount of manga though...you'll be able to see most everything coming in this manga. The storyline is incredibly cliche.

Trust me, this manga is better left unread.

I rated 1, simply to counterbalance the 10s I see on this manga. It is a CRIME that this manga is currently at 7.9 in avg ratings. If I had to truly rate...I'd give this around a 4.3 for the art.

---Read until chapter 14--

On the contrary..

I was going to give up this series after reading the reviews on lack of plot and romance, but I took it up anyway out of boredom. I was expecting no plot and no romance, but I was wrong! As stupid as the plot is (I really hate manga based off a simple object like a charm or necklace or some magic book), it does have one. And that plot basically revolves around protecting the main girl from some punishment.

BUT I must say that it is very annoying to have a joke thrown in out of nowhere after a very dramatic moment. The creator mentioned somewhere in the afterward that she wanted to keep the series comedy and not go into drama, but I think a good comedy should have its dramatic moments too.

And romance! Well, it seems to me there are enough hints that the main pair will be Red + Main (or is this just my wishful thinking?). However, there are enough hints to show that all the knights are in like with the main character and it seems to me that their love for her is fueling their dedication (although how they fall in love with some random girl is a mystery). And it's harem--what do you expect? If she chooses the guy immediately, there would be no more lovey dovey scenes with bishies~~

Despite my dislike for bug-eyed anime characters, I must say that the art is gorgeous. The story is a bit thin, but I've always had a thing for the black sheep (*cough cough*Kurama Mutsuki*cough*) in manga, and Kurama is such a mysterious and interesting character that he ups this rating from a 6 to an 8. (I know I'm biased, right?)

i love the art. it attracted me. the romance? i thought there would be lots~ maybe even jealousy~ did i get wat i hoped for? NOT AT ALL. the plot is so boring. i dont even know y i got up to chapter 12. honestly, i know this sounds kinda... not nice lol but it is SOOOO BORING!!!! SO INCREDIBLY BORING!!!! i actually yelled "this is SO BORING!" im so frustrated rite now. that i wasted my time on such a boring series D: the guys are hot, tho i gotta admit. sometimes i just keep reading cause the art is so great but i cant take it anymore. i really cant. the art can only make up for how much the plot sucks for so long. i dont really like the way anise's eyes are drawn tho O: lol and i dont really like anise herself she annoys me. but maybe thats just because i hate the manga so much lol well.. u can read this if u want i just really wanted to rant about how much i hate this manga... yeah. lol im glad i got it off my chest. i apologize to anyone that loves this manga. we have different tastes? >_< really, this is just my opinion lol

i give this a 0/10 cause theres nothing below a 1 for the rating thingy

Poorly thought-out

Reading this, it's easy to get the impression that the author is simply flying by the seat of her pants; nothing seems thought out (in terms of explanation or exposition for that matter), there's practically no foreshadowing, and the developments in story, if they can be called that, seem to only serve the purpose of introducing new, more "attractive" guys.

With that said, high-literature it ain't, but it's good for a few laughs, and Shouoto definitely likes her puns. However, the story seems to be getting very stale, very quickly, and Shouoto's obvious lack of experience (one would hope it's a lack of experience, at least) in the story development department is starting to take its toll on this title, and if she doesn't get some experienced hands in on this quickly, else even the "bishounen" aren't going to hold it afloat.
