The plot is so different from any other manga so it is a big plus. There are no ecchi scenes or anything like this in the manga so no worries. The character development for the main character is really great. You get to see how he changes in the manga. I thought the manga was not as realistic as people as it is so I did not give it a 9. Overall it is a great manga and read it.

This is one of the greatest mangas ever written. It is for mature readers and has lots of complex and mature themes, so if you are looking for anything like One Piece, Full Metal Alchemist, or even Ai Yori Aoshi, you are not going to get it. This pretty much defines a psychological manga. The category tags say it all. This manga literally changed my life.

But the most greatest part is when he repents for all his sins (yeah, I was rooting for him with all my heart), his way acting adultly when everyone started bullying him, support of that afrohair boy - I almost cried when I saw how kind and forgiving people can be..
Man, it was the most wonderful character growth I've ever seen..
I want read more, more something like that!!

This manga is about relationships between classmates - and that is what passed me by when I was schooler myself. I was never really involved in such relationships, I never attended those class reunions after graduating school. That's why I wasn't imbued with vol.4. But 1-3 volumes were interesting.. 3 volume touched me deeply.
Also, I 'm fond of Nagaoka x Katagawa pair - they are cute ^_^v. I would prefer to know more about them.
Persons like Kitahara are rather dangerous.. they are like drowning men - when you try to save them, they hold onto you, climb on you to save themselves, thus drowning you too. If you don't help them, they despise and criticize you.

After so many people recommending me to read this manga, I've finally taken the time to read it.
To be honest, I was a bit disappointed based on all that I had heard about it. I had higher expectations, that's all.
It's a great "slice-of-life", that's for sure. But before the major tone change in the manga, I felt so uncomfortable more than just because it's about masturbation. I just didn't... relate to the characters in the slightest. Perhaps it's because I'm female, or because I didn't really go through what the characters did, that I can't base how I feel about it.
Still, it's a great character study about growing up, realizing your mistakes, and leaving the past behind you. If you're not put off by the theme of the manga, give it a try.

At first, I thought it was one of those mature ecchi manga where there's no plot, where the main character just masturbates until the end, but who would have thought otherwise. The first half was indeed dark (which I found pretty interesting) then the second half was...heart-wrenching. I swear I cried at some parts because it's close to real life situations. Also, the characters are well-developed especially the main character. You can really see him grow as a person.

All in all, this manga is highly recommended. It's all about redemption, maturity, finding the courage to face reality head-on, and much more. This is definitely a slice of life manga. Also, don't be fooled by the title and the first few chapters ^^

Ok at first when I saw this because of the rating/reviews I thought I would scan through it and see what all the fuss was about and tbh I didn't hate it but I just didn't think it was my type of manga so I dropped it , but then I came across this again and decided to read this properly and yeah it was ok but still I couldn't get into it even after 9 chapters but I still continued and the outcome was really nice it was more of a lesson teaching story , a message that was trying to get across. I think this should be a book more than a manga it had that book feeling to it. Its not the best but yeah a nice simple story but not a story for everyone and not worth a rating of 10 its the kind of story /ending on what you'd see in a book is all + the guy became normal looking at the end hehe ! P.s a liiittle bit of exaggeration going on .

I can't fully express what I think of this manga but here are just a few thoughts; that is the amazing control and ability the author was able to put into the characters. Not only did the characters seem genuine, it was very convincing to take into the roles of those who were outcasted, and those who weren't. "Onani" showed many sides of human emotion, and for that I give this manga a lot of credit when it comes to being a very enjoyable read. Take into consideration very genuine human emotions, mixed in with teenage anxiety and what you get is Onani.

I will be short and simple. This manga was really good because it was unique- different from other mangas out there. you'd expect it to be some stupid shallow manga but its actually deals with more serious/mature themes and i thought it was pretty touching and very enjoyable to read.

The art is cute, nothing's drawn out of proportion and the artist knows his stuff, but I can't really get into this. It's kind of boring and i don't understand why he has to masturbate like that and i don't really like him as a character. I don't like any of the characters, they're boring to me. And also almost none of them act like real people, they're just uncaring and heartless. So I don't see what's so special about this...
