Onani means masturbation. And that's what this guy is good at. Every day after school, he sneaks into the mostly unused girls bathroom on the 3rd floor, and masturbates. Until one day, when he's caught by a bullied girl with a hidden agenda...
This is a story of mistakes, redemption, and the choices made in between. It contains the worst and best of the human condition.

Don't be turned off by the title. This is an interesting and engaging story with great characters, and an important message. I can't really say much of anything without spoiling the story, but I can say that even though the title and story include masturbation, this is a serious story that goes far beyond the juvenile trappings of it's title. It flows well, and has a great ending that left me with a smile.

Nice one, even thogh the art is somethng one needs to get used to...
I think this is the first manga I've encountered that was drawn in this style, but after a little time I got used to it. The story is great, something that gives you plenty to think about. Bullying and it's consequences...
Takes a while but..
first thing i've got to say It got better after chapter 27-ish...
before that... it was a bit disturbing, and i would be lying if i said i hadn't kept wondering WHY the hell i was reading this... but around after the main character realizes his mistakes, the story becomes more pleasant. The story around now is not bad, i actually look forward to the next chapter.

A great manga detailing adolescent life. As many have stated, it is a manga focusing on human relationships, with an in-depth look at the character as he struggles to grow up. Catcher in the Rye plays an influential (not so subtle) influence on the manga, albeit a bit more upbeat. I enjoyed the pacing and would definitely recommend this manga to anyone who is interested in social and psychological reads.

Why isn't this headline optional?
Spoiler (highlight to view)
A rather good one if you ask me, but you need to be ripe enough to actually see what good is in it. A story of growth which is not like those typical ones where an ordinary school romance is portrayed and after that there's a time skip of 5 years and a lookout of the happy future and everybody drowns in nostalgia. This is a good story of struggle and enlightenment. I am pleased and it has been hard to please me for a while.
Mind > Love.

ignore the premise
This is one eff-ed up manga, and it's not because of the masturbation. The protagonist's thoughts and emotions are so gritty and raw that they, not the masturbation, are what make me uncomfortable reading this manga. It's a bit depressing to read, but that just makes the story that much more engaging.
this manga is really good
it shows a real life. (they're way too young for smokin' but yeah the bullyin' at that age is horrible).
The guy is like all the kids at their age, they shake their thing almost everyday and I'm sure they have always wanted to shake it in a girl's bathroom.LOL, the manga's pretty funny xD
Like a regular kid
He's not a pervert. he's also not a genius or has style or anything. But it is very realistic at the start, while becoming a bit dramatic, it's still pretty grounded.
Don't confuse dramatic with melodramatic though. Well not anymore than people dramatize events in their minds while acting like everything is going just fine. There are plenty of kids like him( I used to be one). Though he's developed a weird habit. No, not the masturbating everyday. Hmmm even the location isn't that weird, though he's definitely ritualized it. His sex fantasies are like something out of a hentai book, rather malevolent. The drawings don't show most of it, just enough to give you the idea of what he imagines.
I recommend this story, even if nothing I wrote was really good enough to do it justice. You'll still a grounded story where the character recognizes his own hypocrisy at times, yet you can read all his thoughts as he tries to justify his behavior and his position ect.

this is probably my most favourite ongoing series..im reading about 70 ongoing titles right now and i cant wait for the rest of the chapters from this title
the theme is very appealing to me and that theme is one of an outcast trying to go through his school days...i can associate with stories having to do with outcasts of any sort because i felt that i am or i have been an outcast in many situations and circumstances...not just a social outcast but also a sexual one..the main character in this story is both...if u ever felt like an outcast u should certainly read this but it will appeal to many ppl i think even though it is weird and the main chara is a bit peculiar and bizarre at times...proof of that is that currently 870 ppl are reading it here and only 18!! have stopped reading it!...i always keep an eye on these two numbers and its the first time ive seen only 18 ppl quit a seires with such a big amount of readers ..BUT it must be noted that it's certainly for an adult audience
i love the art...i think it is unique and a welcome change to solid lines, perfectly catered for designs and rigid, sterile cg backgrounds..not that i necessarily dislike these but it certainly has a more artistic and atmospheric feel which adds depth to the title....it's like the mangaka never inked the pencils to tell you the truth but it makes the manga look more powerful and more dramatic
16 chapters have been released till now and the story is very interesting with some excellent character development....the main character evolves...he doesn't stay stagnant and u can see some ray of light and some hope for him in the form of a classmate but will he get out of his troubles and his way depressing and weird lifestyle? there appear to be some obstacles and another person is dragging him back to his emo ways...i just wonder what will happen because someone from here mentioned that it has an excellent ending....the other characters also have interesting developments and not everything is what seem to be....i love the inner thoughts of the main character...when he analyzes something he cracks it up perfectly well and this reminds me of kira from death note
i could say this is a must read...it doesnt have any cliches and it progresses nicely and in a very interesting and involving way
PS: finished it and enjoyed it a lot...

More to it than just lawlz.
At first glance some may laugh, some may be turned off, and some may get turned on 0.o; but this manga actually tells a deeper story than just some kid who chronically masturbates.
Much like FLCL and Negative Happy Chain Saw Edge, this doujin takes a completely ridiculous premise and uses it to tell a unique coming-of-age story. Yes, under all the Death Note references and snarky little quips by the main character, there exists an actual story.
But it only starts to happen towards the end of volume 2 and is mostly focused on the main couple Kurosawa and Kitahara.
