Very solid romance

My confession is that this is the first shoujo manga i've ever liked. I guess it really depends more on the mangaka, as Yachi Emiko already managed to convince me of her talents with the josei series Ashita no Ousama.
Anyway i'd say this one is a bit more cheery and typical, but the execution is just as mature.

A typical but decent shoujo

Nothing new here. A normal girl falls in love with a handsome boy. He's rude to everyone and treats her like crap, but she still feels strongly for him (!). Her kindness and "ganbare" spirit transforms him and opens his heart. If you've read some shoujo, you've mostly read this one. Even the main theme, modelling, is cliché.
I think it's a bit better than average because it doesn't suffer from some typical shoujo defects (I'm fed up with the "we love each other but we need 3 misunderstandings and 5 volumes to say it clearly"). There's also a few interesting or funny moments (I like their ugly dog).
If you think you'd rather read something else, I strongly recommand "Ashita no Ousama" by the same magaka.

Short and Sweet

What I like about this manga:
1.) It didn't drag on for too long, something that a lot of shoujo manga/s are guilty of.
2.) No angsty backstories here-- no lingering in the past-- just the story of 2 people living their lives in the present and growing into the future
For a reader looking for a casual shoujo read to indulge in, this series is miles ahead of others.

at first, i felt a little disappointed by this series because i had high expectations for this mangaka... my feminist side kind of came out whenever the heroine was weak and allowed herself to be pushed around by the main male lead. however, as reading progresses, you really feel the gentleness of their young and somewhat immature relationship, and get into the romance that is slow but realistic. if you want a light, sweet shoujo that makes you smile, read this. ^_^ all expectations met, i'd say.

Slow Build Up

When I started this manga I was so sure I was going to hate it. Rui was such an insufferable brat and Natsume was too much of a starry eyed high school girl. But just like Natsume started wearing on Rui's heart so did the characters on mine.

The slow slice of life feeling of the first half of the series made me feel like I was getting to know the characters in their daily lives and when the romance started picking up I was surprisingly engaged. The only thing that disappointed me was the rushed ending, we still didn't get a lot of resolution. I wish we had seen

a bit more of the concrete romance between Rui and Natsume like a couple of dates. Also, did Natsume end up choosing a backup college? Will Rui really quit modelling even though he seemed to start enjoying it? Did Chiyako ever discuss her insecurity with her boyfriend? Still a few loose ends I wish were tied up
