Not as described.

I would NOT call this a "continuation of dear green". Which is very disappointing.
It's mostly one shot style stories that fill in gaps during dear green (ryoukos wedding, sae getting hired at the cafe, etc)
That made it pretty disappointing. I was excited to see their story continue, especially with the way dear green left off, but it never does in this story, it just tells you about times in between.

Good part of a better series

This story set the trend for yaoi to show consensual relationships rather then the usual “rape to love” story.

As a queer person it’s refreshing to see a realistic relationship portrayed in this genre. It opened a whole new door for the genre, and remains one of my all-time favorites.

Also my recommended reading order would be to read the first 17 chapters of the prequel (vol. 3 ch. 6) then this volume, and then to finish the “prequel.”

Note on their given names: Yakima’s given name is Yukari, sometimes mistakenly translated as Midori. This is because the kanji is the same. The title “Dear Green,” is a joke on his name because midori means green. As for Outomi, his given name is alternately translated as Hiroshi or Kou, also because both of those names can be written with the same kanji.

Anything in this series is awesome!

This one is more disjointed, however. I think it's some odds and ends from during the prequel and after the prequel. I'm not sure it's even chronological.

So, concerning Dear Green, as far as I can tell, this is a sequel, story wise, but was drawn first.
That's why not everything matches up with the 3 volume manga, so don't pay attention to it.
(I still recommend you read Dear Green: Hitomi no Ounowa first!)
It's nice to see a bit more details of Yukari and Otoumi's life together, and a lot of flashbacks that show their lives as students, how they met and such!
I really do love this couple and I think any fan of Dear Green's is going to like this as well.

As for the other stories in this volume, they're all worth reading.
They have a very realistic, laidback, normal life kind of feel to them and if you enjoy stories about guys who are friends first but actually deal with their feelings for each other on the side, you'll enjoy these oneshots.

Not as good as the Sequel

Loved the Sequel, so i thought that this was going to be just as good... I read the sequel first thinking it was the prequel but i'm glad i did it that way. I cant really say why i dont like it as much because i read it a couple months ago... But I can say it wasnt bad and its still on my favorites list, but its not great like the Sequel...

I think i didnt like it as much because i had high expectations for it... So if youve already read the sequel and you think this is gonna be just as good, dont get your hopes up...

But i still recommend it... You should definitely read it...

shounen-ai

The chapters go back and forth with past and present which I kinda found annoying, but other than that it's good a shounen-ai with story development. If you're looking for something with more action like me, try Rakka Sokudo by the same author.

I think the description may be a bit off. Yukari and Otoumi are actually together at the beginning of the story, and for the first four chapters, there's a lot of focus on their relationship which is kind of calm, but sweet. Then there are three more chapters (another is just an afterward) and they focus on two different relationships which are just as sweet. It's not really a super hyper manga, but it is cute. ^_^
Note: I guess the description has been changed to be more accurate. I didn't even notice until now. ^_^;
