I just finished reading the not-yet scanlated chapters. The ending has a couple of good twists. It was a good read, for an action shonen. It is a pity no group is yet to finish the scanlations.

Good…not a masterpiece

Buster Keel, is a very charming manga it has your shounen elements such as a dumb MC, the heroine who is violent to the MC only, his equally strong rival, finally humor(I.E shiton)
at first for all you Fairy Tail fans you will think " the fuck why in the hell do they look like Natsu and Lucy." also "mippy? Happy?"
I think the mangaka was the assistance for hiro-sensei.
Overall nothing really help this manga diverge from other shounen; so I'm not expecting much.

The art feels familiar...but it's different

The art for this is familiar to One Piece and Fairy Tail, but at the same time it's different enough to not be a distraction. I think the author might have been an assistant to one of the two authors. Everyone who says this is just like fairy tail is a bit wrong in my opinion. For one, all shounen protagonist are basically the same. Keel is just as dumb as the rest of them. The heroine is just as spunky as the rest of them, and Keel's archnemesis/best friend is just like the rest of them. In short, the characterizations are pretty cliche.

That being said, the cliches don't feel forced. It's actually quite a fun read, and once the story starts to pick up, I think it gets better. I can't say that anything about this manga elevates it from it's peers, but I don't think it's a bad addition to the shounen action genre.

So what?

It's true, this is a ripoff of Mashima. This is also a ripoff of HxH. The reason I give this a ten is because the story is arguably better crafted than Fairy tail and definitely better than Rave Master. The characters are similar but greatly improved upon and made more realistic. The art could use some work, but it doesn't bother me.

Fairytail?

I think it's a mix of Rave Master and Fairytail. Think about it. The characters resemble Natsu Lucy and Gray (and the Rave characters). They're looking for these 4 treasures (remind you of anything?) that will let them save the world and find what they're looking for. Yep. Lavi's parents are rich and want her to become a docile little princess, she ran away to become an adventurer, and their last names are Heartful. -_- There are a bunch more (like the fact that Lavi, who sounds eerily similar to Lucy, uses "monsters" who she views as companions), but it would be a waste of time to list them all. Aside from the obvious similarities, this is a really good manga. I love it, but I think it should stray a bit more from Fairytail. :I

Better than most

Yeah, it's not incredibly original, but it is well crafted.

I like all the main characters, and enjoy seeing them interact. I like how they feel like a family, with the super-weak little fire-pig thing not hesitating to stand up to the dragonape, as indeed 'brothers' will fight about food and what-not, but it's all in jest because deep down they care about one another. I also like how the girl plays a key role in many of the fights, rather than being just someone to save: she's not waiting to be saved, she's also fighting and pitching in!

I like how it's not a story that makes heroes out of psychos, how the heroes mainly strive to make the world around them better for all, rather than just better for themselves (even the dragonape, who in the end is just lonely and hurt, and therefore starts off in an overly defensive/aggressive stance).

It's a nice story smile

im really liking this series right now it has a pretty good story thats getting more interesting and its art may be as unique as fairy tails but its still as great, the characters are funny and im really expecting a lot from this manga. also i think its really worth giving it a chance like i did, i dont think the user rating it got above is fair and thats one of the reasons why i still give a lot of the mangas thats less than 8.0 a chance to judge for myself doesnt give it enough justice, ii mean they even rated Naruto a 7.99 and its one of the top 3 shounens out right now. i hope this series gets more popular too

Buster Keel, it has its charm

Yeah, you can draw comparisons between this and Fairy Tail, but Buster Keel has its own charm. It is a typical shonnen manga, with all the trimmings; the good point is that the slight deviations from the standard mold make it more interesting. Rather than a human protagonist with magical, supernatural or no powers, we have Keel who's a monster (Dragonape) pissed off about being stuck in human form, his personality is abrasive, and he's cocky to no end.

Did I hook you yet? No?
Just read Buster Keel, you might enjoy it; I know I do.
