Reborn may need an abortion

Reborn is a series that truly understands its audience: the 'Shonen Jump' and fangirl (fujoshi) demographic. Like many series, it does succeed and does avoid the danger of a convoluted storyline quite well during its development. There is no doubt, like many of the previous reviews state that Reborn's art does drastically improve and while such quality is a pleasant surprise for a weekly manga, it gets better a tiny step by a time. Character designs are great which each with utmost care.

That being said, Reborn is not without its criticisms. The characters develop in different ways, but not necessarily good ones either. The typical shonen power up is done too quickly; a cheap shot and lackadaisical approach to techniques and ultimately serve little personal distinction. Even though these 'powers' are somewhat unique, they just seem cardboard cut out and the latest arc more or less confirms it with a Pokemon-like headline.

There is little teamwork which turns into stock one-vs-one fights that lead to a predictable outcome, and the only teamwork serves to bring up banter between the characters as a good attempt of humour. The fights require one to flip back pages just to see what is happening which is a problem with layout.

The biggest thing that seems to be done in a completely mismatched way is the environment and the plot. Utterly they couldn't be more different. Mafia in a futuristic military base in control of their petty dominance of their families? Readers may enjoy this as 'crack', but it just stands out as an eyesore, like a hippie tie-dye t-shirt in a zen meditation room.

So is Reborn worth reading? Yes if you do love your bishonen, a community that feeds of its own fantasies and confusing, but well drawn fights. As a shonen jump manga, it's one of the better ones, but like a shonen jump manga, expect depth and vivid storytelling that can only go to a certain extent.

Everyone said it but I'll say it once more. Daily Life arc was pretty much a waste of time but once they got into the Kyoya arc then Varia and finally the most recent TYL arc this is definately becoming one of my favourite manga.

Skip The first 100 chapters if you must but definately check out the most recent. It'll definately blow you away!

first 100 chapters are fucking boring..geez...all 10th does is enter "DYING WILL MODE" and pwns, he's a wuzz anyways, got no skills and is a freaking naive weakling.
even if he is a "normal" student, why cant he atleast be a little more interested ;<
well 10th pwns alittle after the first 100 chapters tho.

it is very unrealistic, that i already know but it's just too much when the main character wins every battle, at least some battles so he can learn from his experience, that would seem more real.

full of bishounens

this manga is full of bishounens!!! at first glance you say "vaauuvv 'drooling' he is gorgeous etc."
but then every one of them has his own unique stupidity which cracks me up. smile dino's clumsiness, hibari's love for the high school (his cell phone ring is the school songbigrazz), yakamoto's naiveness...

It's good, funny, drawings are different i think, not similar other mangas.. and the tenth is not a super cool hero, he is just an ordinary student. I love it.

first time I saw this anime (manga later) I thougth it was made bye (at least drawn) the same person as eyeshield 21 but it seems I was wrong. I mean it has the same art and the main char resembles Sena so much and is even called Sana.

Get your lazy butts off your seats- wait, no. Get out of those Naruto sites and get attached to Katekyo Hitman Reborn~! Not saying being obsessed with Naruto is bad - being VERY obsessed is.. kinda... ... yeah. But, really. I'd rather read KHR a million times over and over than Naruto. Because I think it's /that good./ Amano Akira's artwork is, like, on the borderline between shoujo and shounen. Personally, I think her art > whoever the mangaka for Naruto is (I'm not good with names) and it can be pleasing to one's eyes. And who doesn't like her bishies, ah? D: The Daily Life arc gives you a few laughs to relax you before drama kicks in, the Kokuyo arc gets your blood pumping for the real action, but everything just comes together and gets better in the Varia arc. Of course, I haven't read past it yet, but /jeez./ It's just so awesome. Yeah, I'll shut up before this turns into five pages.
Read KHR. I'm a pretty lame person and read only ~14 volumes in, say, three days, but I got hooked instantly. So yeah. If you miss out on this, I declare you as lame.
Kidding. I think. 10. Definitely. HIBARI, WE LOVE YO- -shot-

This is just like two different manga with the same casting and same title not mixed but separated with a straight line.
The first part (daily life arc) is something like a gag manga. There are funny parts but after a while it becomes boring, because there is no story behind it and the characters are annoying.

From the Kokuyō Gang arc it's like a different manga. I like this part much better (nice action and such), but it's nothing exceptional and the first part adds almost nothing to it. In fact the characters act very differently from what we saw in the daily life arc because of some rush character development and therefore most of the daily life arc becomes superfluous.

If the first part was for introduction it was waaay too long. If not, i don't know what it was for...
The art is OK for a shounen manga. The action looks good, but actually there is no logic in the powers. Well it's ok too.
The story starts to develop nicely around the Varia arc.

Based on the things above:
As a comedy/gag manga the first part would get a 6-7/10 maximum.
As a shounen action manga I give it a 8/10 which is very nice but certainly not the best ever...

For some reason this manga grew more and more in terms of art and less in terms of overall structure and story. During what was supposed to be exiting parts were just as boring as the rest of the manga. Its like the mangaka used to write shoujo mangas than decided to go straight into shounen
