It's really nice, as a break from the typical predictable shoujo stuff, with its focus on family life rather than the usual "getting a boyfriend!" I found the characters a bit melodramatic, though... tears and yelling and emotions flying all over the place! Some of it is understandable given the stressful situations (for both big and little sis) but I think there's just too much drama and faced-paced story and not enough quiet(?) scenes to balance it out. The 4th chapter seemed a bit more calmed down though, so hopefully this is something that will improve over time—I get the impression that this is Minato-sensei's first major series.

Oh, and speaking of the 4th story (trying not to spoil anything), I thought it was pretty cute. And then I thought, "Hey, actually the 'grown up/teen' characters in a lot of shoujo manga act exactly like these 3 year olds. Hmmm."

Why Do We Have to Lose Sweet Stories Like This?

This is a really good examples of a type of manga that is surprisingly common in Japan. It's the story about someone taking loving care of an orphan or semi-orphan child. Somewhat surprisingly, the manga world does this kind of tale masterfully. The one of many of this sort of story that I liked best was "Aishiteruze Baby"...until I found this one. The semi-orphan child here is adorably drawn, yet can be a real pain in the butt at the beginning of the manga when she's 3 years old. That's totally realistic as far as I'm concerned. Her sister, a teenagers, makes tremendous sacrifices of times and trouble to raise the little girl. That's noble behavior in my eyes. The sister's boyfriend is not fully developed, true, but is portrayed as also remarkably unselfish, and so has great potential to develop as a very unconventional male. This series had these things and a lot more to offer--and then the scanlators dropped it...

I think I understand why I've loved it so much and they didn't.

As an old person, I'm moved and impressed by what a terrific strain of "do your duty" there seems to be in Japanese life, particularly as concerns the family. This story is a fine example of that. I think, though, that manga readers, who are mostly very young, are by and large on another track -- the "make a place for MYSELF in the world" struggle. It's hard when that overwhelming life struggle stretches before you in real life to turn away from stories that depict its beginning to stories of people who decide to look after someone else instead of themselves. But later in life we oldies can really appreciate that kind of self-sacrifice and unselfish love. We know how tough life can get, and how wonderful it can be sometimes for someone like the heroes of these kinds of stories to step up and lend a hand. In the end, after romance and grandiose dreams are long past, what love most often turns out to be about is simply being loyal and kind.

I haven't started this series, although i've put it on my wishie in the hopes of someone being kind enough to finish it off smile
I agree that these kind of stories are beautiful & they really hit close to home for me. My parents would work really long hours when i was younger & it would be up to me and my older sister to raise my 3 smaller siblings. It was a hand full & when you're a kid yourself, it feels like "oh gawd i could be playing DOLLS but i gotta change ba-baa's diaper!" Haha i secretly loved it bc in the end i love my family with all my heart. ❤❤❤

i read the first chapter and i was really bugged by something i just couldn't tell what... there is nothing wrong with the art or the plot, the thing is that the main couple is already stable and at the point of doing ecchi things so the romance is boring, it also has more of a josei feel than a shoujo. i dont think hinako's personality is very cute even though her character design is. The mood is similar to works by akira shouko who wrote saruyama.
