I adore this manga!
It has everything I look for in boys love manga... a really good sense of humor, likable characters, an interesting plot, steamy sexual tension, drama that is just heart-tearing.... ah it's just so good!
Honestly, at first I was unsure because of two things. First, the title seemed weird to me but it's really just random and I don't see how the manga would have anything to do with it, unless it's some pun I don't know about. And 2nd, the art, especially the way Norio was drawn, seemed a bit too weird for me. BUT, as I went on reading, I quickly got used to it and it even grew on me and I fell in love with the manga!
Yes, there's topics that not everyone is going to like.
If you have a big problem with alternate universe settings, the topic of forcing sex for the sake of making children, mpreg and the like.... you might not enjoy it that much.
I myself am not exactly a fan of these themes and yet I absolutely love Sex Pistols and everything about it!
I don't think I know any other manga that combines comedy with drama and pure sexiness this perfectly! The transition between lol-funny and totally hot and sexy is seamless!

The humor is just hilarious, it has a lot of serious laugh-out-loud moments as well as sad or bittersweet topics like the later relationships.
I love all characters, how Kunimasa is willing to wait even though he can often act really cold and only sees Norio as a thing to have sex with...how Norio's pure animal instinct tells him to have sex but his heart wants him to be more than just an object...... the relationship between Yonekuni and Fujiwara.....loved that one to bits!
The plot is not predictable, has a lot of exciting twists and turns and I believe that it'll please most yaoi fans!
Only thing is when reading the scanlation is it gets a bit confusing in volume 6 (ch35)... they used a Chinese raw and I think when manga is translated from Chinese, most of the time, a lot of stuff doesn't make sense anymore, there's a lot of awkward sentences and spelling mistakes. Also, they failed to translate some names. Since this is licensed though, it's definitively worth picking up the book instead!

I hope that the manga will be continued, especially since we don't yet get any conclusion on how the relationship between Norio and Kunimasa goes on... it's just too good of a manga to stay forever abandoned...

This is definitely one of my top favorite manga series out there and I'd recommend it to absolutely everyone who is not 100% against mpreg (and even then, read it!!)
What needs to be said is: if you are put off by the art when you begin reading this, don't stop! It's easy to get used to, and the manga is soooo worth it!
Don't stop after a chapter or two either, it really only gets better and better the more you read!

Nyaaghn, I'm just going to go ahead and say it, naysayers can buck-off: Reading this is a guilty pleasure of mine. Even if this is most likely never going to get updated anytime soon(curse my inability to read Japanese or any other language other than English! I'm stuck with scanlations). This is like, what, my fourth re-read?

First time I started way back when, read one chapter then fell in love. Went for a re-read when the updates weren't coming fast enough. Re-read what we have so far a third time after my heart got broken upon hearing the news that there weren't any scanlators willing to do this anymore. Reading it for the fourth time and it still has me loving it with a whopping huge-ass serving of nostalgia. Maybe someday I'll finally have the time to learn how to read Japanese. For now, I'm at the mercy of awesome scanlators.

The art in the beginning is still as, er, not-exactly-bad, just the way I remember it, now being more aware of the art and how it gets better by the chapter and volume is a pleasant experience, oh, and the premise is still as interesting as ever.

It's one of the few manga that I love to bits, teaching me the art and exercise of suspension of disbelief, despite knowing that if I were any saner, I wouldn't be reading or re-reading this at all. I think that this is one of a dozen or so favorites that if I'd never read, I wouldn't be as tolerant of the manga I've read to this date, be it ridiculous plot lines, dub-con or outright non-con, or plain and utter WTF-types. Now, I'm proud to say, I rarely get BSed out of finishing a story no matter how fugly the art or ridiculous the plot.

There are so many LOL moments, countless ©giggle-fart inducing scenarios. I can't even count the number of times I went "Omigawd! WTH!? Bwahahaha!!" and I'm not even sure that all those times did the scene aim for that sort of reaction from a reader.

I still get a tingly feeling when I empathize with Norio, when he gets hurt or turned on or whatever. Kunimasa is just hawt, I can't even. The other pairings like Yonekuni/Shiro was also great.

This isn't like, whoa, groundbreaking meaningful hoopla that reveals secrets to life type but there is emotion, there is humor, there is a lot of things about this manga that can make you LOL in one moment and feel touched enough to sob in another.

Another thing I love is that the physiques of the characters actually have relevance and we have variety here, people. There's no 'all the girly looking dudes are ukes' and 'all the bara/semi-bara dudes are semes' here, though the semes are generally larger than their counterparts.

As in any manga, there are characters who make me want to beat them into a pulp, scenes that make me want to tear my hair out while screaming for bloody murder. Yeah. A drug isn't all good, right? I still love this and hope against hope that I'll be able to finish it.

not saying that's a bad thing - i mean so far we have had 7 volumes out and there are a lot of characters in this manga universe that seem to be almost randomly jammed in and, for me, that takes away from the main characters stories... like weird flashbacks...

So far i have to say the main couple of Norio/Kunimasa get out-shined by Yonekuni/Shiro (and pretty much every other couple) and then we don't see nearly enough of either, but I have to say I am liking the story of Shinobu and V.B

Started reading this manga about 3 days ago and I loved it

However now (reading chapter 39) it has lost its spark.

It was excellent till chapter 35 (or somewhere there >.<) but I am finding this part rather boring :S. I think it is all due to he fact that there are way too much characters...

Also, the art is not so good, unlike the anime... But still enjoyable >.<

On the whole, I recommend this series,especially for its originality

I've read this for a while and dropped it for a short time since it was getting complicated in the middle of the stories but I picked it up again, so that I can finished the rest of the story. Well, what I wanna say is, this manga is full of drama and other past stories related to the characters. Although I think the first few chapters regarding to Kunimasa and Norio is very funny and interesting, the other chapters starts to focus on other characters, like Kunimasa's half brother and the oh so complicated family tree. Oh gosh. Until now, I still can't make out who is who! I have to rely on the family chart whenever a new story comes up. But overall, it's a fun story. It's quite rare to have stories like that and I'm still wondering when are they gonna continue this story?!

i agree with other comments saying that u get used to the art and start liking it as you read, and plus it does gradually get a little better objectively - i just wanted to add that it makes a particularly big leap after the 7th volume - it actually looks like the mangaka decided to change her style a bit in general and make it more modern - no more outdated HUGE height and build difference between feminine and manly charachters - hallelujah ^_^" in general everything looks a bit more neat; the lines thinner etc.

Sadly, that is also arround the point where the story takes a turn for the worst - maybe the new publisher decided that it was too simplistic before? whatever the reason, in my opinion, instead of becoming more interesting it becomes unnessesarily confusing; it is also possible that is only due to the fact that it got licenced and the more experienced team of scanlators dropped it, so the translations are not as good. In general i am not of a very high opinion of the manga story-wise. But the good points are, imho - the alternate world plot (30% of humans decended from animals other than apes) - it is amusing, if not too well thought out and a bit silly; and that it is chrachter driven - and again, the charachters may be a bit cliche, but somehow u realy start sympathysing and wanting to read till their happy ending.

All above said - i would recomend reading it, at the least till volume 6 ^_^

ugh hated the character salem, and why would anyone want to be married to a man that is married to a jerk like salem? the character chose to be forever the 2nd wife, the 2nd most important. how can anyone be happy like that? be happy with a man that had to wait 2 years to get "permission" from the first wife to be able to pick up the man he loves and their child. if he loved him he would have left everything and followed him...

I really wasn't sold on this for the longest time, but I've followed it anyway. I have to say that it has gotten much better. The characters are more interesting. It was all very silly while this whole world was being set up, but it's not entirely stupid anymore. It's not *amazing* for me, but it's not bad. The art has also gotten much better(it bothered me at first with some characters).

well if you're gonna ask me..

I'll say "i definitely love this manga!". It has romance, comedy, lil bit of drama and a LOT of HOT S*E*X SCENES..woops.. *cough*sweet*cough* moments i meant.. There are no guy in the story that irritated me unlike other yaoi manga.. hmmm.. and the SEMEs are all POSSESSIVE! that's a number one requirement for me.. "an over possessive seme"...

Sooo... My thoughts about Sex Pistols? Not bad, not bad, but not epic either.

In fact there is only one story that I really, really enjoyed, and that I could re-read over & over & over again : that one with Shima (the moongoose) and Hiromasa. (the habu = some sort of snake or whatever.)
I've got a weak spot for semes who act all calm and composed in front of the uke, but who are ultra-possessive in reality, to the point of becoming dangerous. + the uke in this story is pretty strong-willed, and I'm also a sucker for this type, so that was the perfect combination, really ! <3 <3
Just for this story I'm happy I decided to read Sex Pistols.
