Gradually Lost Interest
Rating: 7.5 / 10.0

I stuck with the series for quite a while because of the good premise and summary. Even though I found the art to be a bit lacking, I kept reading.

Unfortunately, after reading more than half of the series, the story still didn't fully capture my attention. Instead, my mind gradually drifted away with each chapter, and eventually I was just sitting there picking at my nails. I don't really understand why, but this manga was somehow too boring for me. And that's pretty unusual.

The characters were intriguing, and I had a slew of favorite characters. I liked the characterization of the main cast a lot, and I was impressed by how perceptive a couple of them could be. The main character in question is also pretty interesting, and she has a shroud of mystery around her that is scarily different from her veneer of a genteel girl. HOWEVER, despite all these things that the author had done right, I did not feel ANY emotional attachment to any of them, except a little for the main guy. And that is it. My lack of emotional commitment made it easy for me to quit reading. Also, sadly, there was a lack of actual character DEVELOPMENT, so the characters eventually became boring to me as well.

The plot was also bearable, although it was actually rather anti-climatic during the first few chapters. Don't worry. Everything becomes VERY intense pretty quickly after the beginning, and gosh the violence and gore starts. But it just wasn't my cup of tea. I think due to the author's style of randomly jumping to events without major hints, I got confused and lost interest, and was only reading on to see character development. I did catch on to the plot, of course, but the storytelling was a bit choppy--which made reading this less enjoyable.

Overall though, this manga is interesting, so I'd recommend this to anyone with the time.

While the art is only so-so, the plot is high-paced, intense, and gripping. The characters aren't really developed or likeable, but they are good enough to keep the story going.
And although some parts of the manga involve death and rape, none of it is really horrific. Instead, most of the storyline is centered upon psychological damage.
