my conclusion at the ending is something like this..
warning: if you haven't reach 150++ or completed reading this manga, please don't read the spoiler, cause i don't really like to spoil anything, manga means to be read and look..
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
the plane, 2307, should have been crash that exact coordinate and time and can be found later at the sea, with all the passengers, including ca, co/pilot, maybe, have died. all of that would happen if the Eden Project didn't exist.
Because they finished (or maybe half or 1/3 finished) the Eden Project, instead just crashing and all of them died, they get sent forward into the future. (100 or more years), so that they could get so that they could do 'some trial' whether or not they survive.

there is also a probability something like this..

all of the experiments with the extinct animal, is so that they could make their clone.. but i would like to deny it, cause at chapter 184 explain that the revival of extinct animal is her grandpa's wish

the ending is kind of sad, cause most of them won't be able to meet all of their family they left at japan,,(well there is 'Tragedy' tag for this manga), but absolutely not a cheap one, just kinda,, in a rush, but enough hints

Not bad

At first glance, it reminds me of Jurassic park. And they are very really similar (frustrating).
The ending is certaining a twist I did NOT anticipate.
This manga is quite long, 185 chapters I think. For me, it required some patient because I could more or less guess what was going to happen every other page.
I was not interested in the ecchi aspect of it (not that graphic), but the action and the adventure part of it. And there was not enough of those for me to rate this an 8 or above. It has some exciting parts to it, though.

Having read all of it, I have to say that even though the journey reading it wasn't all that great, the ending was surprisingly satisfying. Like some others say, this manga could have been even longer if they had taken that twist at the end further (ie include the real world).

After reading a few chapters, I had the impression that this is a remake of another popular manga. Turns out, I was right.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Take Drifting Classroom, add lots of fan service, romance, great art works and a wonderful new manga is created.
-the delinquent hero.
-the childhood girlfriend.
-the top nerd.

In the very first chapter, we see that the plane pass through a blackhole as the sky disappeared. A coin was flipped in to the air and one by one the people started disappearing. At first, I thought the plane had cracked in half. But we later see that the plane was in whole. So how did Sengoku ended up outside the plane? Most likely, Sengoku was running towards Rion, and the movement caused displacements which thrown him outside the plane while it was passing though the blackhole and he somehow landed safely on the ground.

The ending was not unresolved, it was just not well thought out.
-Hades was a minor character, so he just didn't matter.
-They found a security robot, why didn't they take a look at the videos in the HDD. And that's not even how to crack an encrypted HDD!
-Why doesn't the animals attack the school? If they had that kind of technology, why didn't they use that on the Antennas instead of using traps?
-Buildings do not fall down after just 100 years and we know the director was not cheap on cash!
-We know that there are no lands surrounding the island and the virus immobilizes the victims 1 hour after infection. So it's not likly it made it off the island. Plus, someone would have fallen into the sea, and the salt water would have cured them. Or that someone would have figured out the cure, so it's not likely the human race is wiped out.
-They spent 3 years building a Huge boat to house everyone. Just get off the island and go bring back help!!

All in all, the whole time while reading this, my mind was screeming, "You dumb ass, why didn't you do this or that!!!" Maybe the author was trying to educate readers what not to do, but really, the author should have just put in a Mr. smarty pants character. There is too much characters and not enough screen time for them. I hated how the author wasted frames to explain simple terms like photosynthesis and DNA which made the main character/readers seem dumb. Yet the battle tactics they employed are retarded at best. They serve as harbingers for more disaster to come.

Don't read it if you want to be satisfied with the ending

Sadly, it seems that this manga was axed and there wasn't enough time to tie up all the loose ends. So many questions left unanswered. Even ignoring some of the minor-ish plot holes like
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The tech on the island wasn't nearly as advanced as it was supposed to be, considering that at least 50(more like a 100, 40-50 for the project, and another 40-50 for the facilities to decay) years have passed since the plane disappeared. Although, I think it was intentional. Otherwise it would've been a serious giveaway.

Judging from the hints in the plot, the big picture ending was as intended. Although some of the questions remain...
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Clones or time travel? Clones are unlikely because they retained all the memories. Time travel is contradictory because the plane somehow landed. Was the island aimed for the plane? If so, why was it kind of like a cemetery for the passengers and not a welcoming party?
"They were already dead" theory I don't like.
Hades? Probably crazy student... Who knows?
The outbreak? And the island was just abandoned?
Is the outside world already dead?

Only read if you can stomach the mostly unresolved ending. Otherwise it's great.

Nishikiori killed this manga. His ark was bad and, probably, killed the ratings.

at the beginning till the end, it was really really good but not satisfied with the ending
just saying that the island was made by Akira's mother, and 3 last chapters just talking about how hard his mother accepting her son's dead and going about her plan just based on a dream....
a good manga will be accepted as a well done manga when they can wrap up most of the mystery well... and this manga just let people down by the ending....
oh well, fun read, interesting plot, good dead and alive situation, but lacks wrap up....
hopefully there'll be an omake or such to relief us from the curiousity..

awesome, but I hate cliffhanger!

Thanks God the moment I start read this manga it's completely scanlated! I've been stayed up 2 nights just to finish this manga..

Overall, It's an awesome manga that makes me want to continue reading without bothering to sleep!
But still, I don't like the ending. It's kinda rushing to solve the problems of 21-volumes-manga in just 3 chapters. Not to mention the cliffhanger that didn't answer all the question in my mind.

There are a lot of things that ticked me off:
  • what happen to Kouhei?
  • who is Hades?
  • is Saji really died?
  • did the real Miina get her memories back?
  • what is that beak-thingy that suddenly emerging on the plane's body when the shock occurs in the first chapter?
  • what the Pilot knows about the island? (He said about they must quickly go back or else it will be too late)
  • where did they find the ropes? moreover, TONS of it? sure they used ropes a lot.
  • stupid but can't get my mind out of it, what the girls use when they're on period? it's not like they have a lifetime-supply of sanitary napkins considering they don't even have that many spare clothes
  • and HOW they could build such sturdy shelters with lack of equipment and it's not mentioned that any of them is a architect or something like that

My assumption and (still other) question:
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
- They don't really die but hence thrown into the future
I think when suddenly the plane surrounded by a pitch black regardless it's noon after the plane-shock that's when they get through to the other dimension and the fact that the searching team couldn't find any traces of plane crash
- Is it a/an (endless) causal theory?
they aren't died, but thrown to the future where the project to commemorate them take place. that place build because they disappear. If the project didn't started, the won't thrown to 'that world'. and if they didn't thrown to the future, the project itself won't be started. geeez
- what will happen after they go outside the island?
if they really make it comeback to Japan, will they back to the 3-years world after their disappearance? or they will back to the faaar future world following the situation on the island? or they won't make it anywhere since they're on the other world?
- if they really died on a plane crash, what happen to those who died on the island?
are they died twice? but since dead+dead = minus+minus will give a positive results, are they reincarnated? uh oh just forget it
- it is possible that 'Hades' is really Hades
if the possibilities are they really died, maybe he's really the God of underworld. whether they're ghosts that 'locked' on that island or in fact that the island is the underworld itself, Hades just keep an eye on them right?

Well, Maybe it's best to keep the manga as it is, but still I hope the author make a sequel to answer those questions.
Anyway, I don't like Yarai be with that glasses-sensei. It's better if he's with Segawa instead :<

this kind of manga is usually not my cup of tea it was out of boredom that i picked up the first volume in the library and was hooked instantly.

Only downside would be near the last couple of volumes everything sped up, felt kinda rushed but then again by the time i noticed i already read everything

Ending was kinda "ehh" an epilogue wouldve been great to finish the series off nicely.

Cage of Eden Review!
by Nightroad
April 6th, 2013, 6:47am
Rating: 10.0  / 10.0
Cage of eden is a thrill from start to finish, and keeps you on the edge of your chair the whole story through. Survival is the main ingredient for this story, but a healthy those of adventure and romance has been added in. Follow the surviving group of a "plane crash" on an island habitated by extinct, fierce animals. Character Development is key, as through the story characters meet with accidents and survivors get picked up along the way. The main character's development into a leadership role is very interesting to read, and how human society 'can' react in the face of danger.

The ending is a piece of art. The author gives readers plenty of stuff to chew on along the way, and you will start to question "how can this/that happen?", which becomes clear at the end. I've read many manga's up till now, but now have given me goosebumps during the last 5 chapters, when the truth unravels to how they actually got stuck there.

a MUST read!
