Hard to make a judgement at this point

There aren't that many chapters out [19th just got released today]. So far, this is very good but it seems like this will be pretty much impossible to keep up for 100 chapters. I suggest you wait to read this until about 20 more chapters are out and check the reviews then. As of now, I'm giving it an 8.

EDIT: Oh, it's a monthly series. 2o more chapters would take a couple of years then, hehe. I guess if you can stand monthly series, go ahead. I usually try to avoid them, though there have been a few i've picked up by accident [like this and sasameki koto]

even if the lead female is a notch too 'cute', the storyline is well played. it's entertaining without the weight of some manga and without the over-reach and insanity of even more. it's not on the same scale as 'Monster' or 'Onani'- which is why the ratings haven't gone over the '8's'. but it surely is a high '8'. certainly better than most.

The high ratings of this manga are misleading. The concept of this manga is not original. The characters are quite clichéd (especially the main girl). And so far, the outcomes of each 'arc' have been predictable.

However, I've given this manga a higher rating than I had originally intended to, because I find the observation skills of Toru utterly interesting. The artwork is clean, although not brilliant. I also like how the mangaka emphasises that people rely too much on their powers, whilst ironically the kid 'without power' saves the day. Nice and cheesy moral.

But honestly, if you're looking for a true mind-boggling manga; read Liar Game.
For amazing character developement; read Onani Master Kurosawa.
For analysing the psychological aspect of an insane person; read Monster.

The three manga I've mentioned above are what deserves a '10'. Iris Zero can hardly compare.

I for 1 happened to come by this manga by chance and lemme tell u its a worthwhile read. I enjoy the concept and how the MC thinks giving his position it deserves its seinen tag because of the realistic way of how he thinks. My advice read it or wait and read when they have even more chapters >_>

I just love this manga, its like it takes itself seriously in comparison to other series that resemble it, probably because its a seinen manga, everything that happens seem to get a realistic response by the characters and that makes it more interesting without the character doing something completly opposite to what you would really do.

Only the start...

I have read a few of the negative commentary regarding the manga. I actually felt compelled to find the one below regarding the world implications as quite useful. However, I do believe that this is only the beginning. If this manga becomes more successful, I foresee an expansion of this story line to encompass all the aspects discussed regarding socio-economic and geo-politic impacts.

So the author has done a fine job of allowing us into the mindset of a the MC. Hopefully it will allow us to understand why he makes the decisions for future choices.

I started with a high rating because I personally like storyline and the renderings. I hope it continues and not die off like Mx0....(still sad about that one.)

PS: There was an earlier reference about social impact. Since these powers have only developed in the last 2 generations, world change would not be completely evident in everyday society yet. It might be interesting to see if these characters evolve to form some sort of impact to the world based on their abilities.

Not bad at all! It takes a while to get to the real plot and they spend a lot of time in the first few chapters or so introducing characters and the iris powers and the various issues that go with living without one for the main character but I didn't have too much of a problem with it. The plot though, when it comes is turning out to be much more interesting than expected. It's a positive story overall and has some very cute romance but there's also a definite bit of a darker undertone to this story that occasionally makes an intriguing appearance, like with the theme of prejudice against those who are different and the main character's friend's ability to

see butterflies indicating something or someone's imminent death
as well as some of the more very recent developments. I also really like the main character's ability to reason in place of having a special power like everyone else. It's a refreshing change from the main character who has oodles of power and no control or common sense.

And for the record, I think the art is gorgeous. The style itself is very typical but it's refined in a beautiful way.

And as a side note, the extras at the end of each volume crack me up! I love it when the characters break the 4th wall and start commenting on how often they get to appear and what the author is doing with the flashbacks, etc.

Overated.

Too much noise for nothing. The protagonist miraculously always finds the solution to the problem and everyone becomes friends like a big happy family. But that's not what bothers me.What bothers me mostly are the following:
1)The iris abilities are not thoroughly explained even when the story progresses. So in many occasions you will question yourself why that character didn't do that.Is it because his/hers iris has a drawback or is it because of a plot hole?
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Even the main girl could see with her ability if the main protagonist likes her and finish the story there

2)The characters base their lives too much on their iris.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
For example the main girl sees if someone is appropriate for sth with an "o" for yes and an "x" for no.But sometimes with time and effort an "x" can be turned to an "o".I would be much happier if that was the message of this manga, which it clearly isn't.

3)Not much of a plot in the first place.Simply daily situations in a school that take a turn for the worst so as to have sth to continue writing.
Artwork is good for my standards. Not exceptional, just good.
Anyway,to sum up,it's not a bad manga but it's not good either so i don't think any enthusiasm about reading this one. Also with each new chapter the more disappointed i become and what @intemango said would be my words exactly.I just stated the points why a rating of 9 is as ridiculous as Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu being in the top 5 anime of all time.

I don't think they realize it themselves

Bluntly speaking, I don't think the author knows what the implications are when the children possess these 'irises'.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
The ability to see and expose lies, especially when you have more than 2 users to keep themselves in check,
is a terrifying one to possess in a world where dirty businesses, frauds, sleights of hand... are rampant. It is one that will solve any crime in an instant, and turn the fabric of society upside down. There would be a
Spoiler (highlight to view)
'liar testing room'
in every city or something. Some would rather
Spoiler (highlight to view)
become mutes than speak
in a world where that ability is considered to be normal.

But the list doesn't stop there. There are irises that can more or less
Spoiler (highlight to view)
predict the future, how a person's life might turn out or incoming dangers
, as well as other incredible ones yet to be discovered. The government, the military and some of the iris wielders themselves would never pass up the chance of utilizing them. Military, economy, legislature, social welfare.... all will have to be rethought. Why, how such a society can work is beyond me. For me it is a vital and far more interesting issue that dwarfs whatever interpersonal drama and existential angst these kids might be going through.

But if you're not that gung-ho about such things and want your school life romance fix with a touch of supernatural powers, this series is more than adequate, and so far it has done a good job of creating a nice atmosphere that does not feel repulsive like some shounen harem series that shall not be named. I'd never know this was seinen if I hadn't looked at the tag honestly.
