A planet-threatening space disease, the "demon flu", has infected an inhabitant of Earth, and a space doctor is needed! The Space Medical Bureau has chosen Dr. Rurru for the job, but -- unfortunately for Minao Hitoharu, the infected patient -- she has a tendency to mishear and misspeak (with a mind towards ecchi) to comical effect.

Quite Different
Rating: 9.0 / 10.0

Initially, I didn't bother reading the one-shot the first time around, but after reading the first chapter, I change my mind on Dr. Rurru.

Although ecchi, the characters are qutie different (especially the main male protagonist), plus, a plot where an alien doctor tries to cure a planet is quite original at best.

Overall, Dr. Rurru got off to a good start and hopes stay around for a while.

For some reason, this totally reminds me of to love ru. Luckily, this isn't so fully loaded ecchi, and most of the fan service has tie ins to comedy.

The story is moderate, the art is very liekable, and most everything in general is well executed. between average and avobe average. If you liked to love ru, you should (be psychologically examined) check out this. If the genres listed are to your liking, check it out.

Average manga all around.
Might make a beginner sweat a little, but anyone that's older in the manga world will get bored since everything it has to offer has been already done countless times and better in other mangas.

Only read if you've got nothing else better to do.

Dude, the reason why he did that is probably because she's an alien and doesn't want anything to do with her. And if you read till the end of chapter 6 he sorta did prove his manliness by taking out those thugs. So I'm just sayin don't give up on the male lead just yet, I find him refreshing compared to normal shonen leads that really do have no balls.

If you liked DearS, you will related the characters quite a bit...

The main lead, it's not a wimpy or pushover, but a Alien-phobic.. and the female lead, the Alien (of course) is quite oblivious of earthly customs ...

Bunch of laughs, and there is the obvious little romance between them.. but until he is cured that is going nowhere!!

And the Art is just great!

Chapter 6 - Male lead is terrible

I had rated this manga a solid 8 before I read chapter 6. After reading chapter 6 I had to lower the rating to 5.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
The male lead actually tries to get the female lead to go on a date with some annoying side character.

Unforgivable. There's a beautiful woman taking care of the male lead and he shows zero interest to the point where he's trying to set her up with OTHER GUYS. The male lead needs to grow a pair. That is all.
