Description
From Boys On Boys Love:

A skilled investigator operating outside the law infiltrates a prison island where he meets a smart and cheeky boy who seems to have an air of danger about him. Ten years have passed since that day. Now the boy who was given the name Yuuto works along Shigure, who rescued and raised him. All along, Yuuto harbored secret feelings for Shigure, and the deep love that he couldn’t express only made him more dangerous. Soon he started to think that he wanted to die for Shigure. Then he seemed to get the chance when a wild shoot-out broke out on the streets...

The pedophilia tag does not apply to the main couple thankfully! The pedophilia tag applies to Yuuto/Haight's past since he is a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. And let me just say that I like how Nigoshi Toshimi handles it with regards to Yuuto and Shigure/Shawn's relationship. Like consent wise, I don't really have any qualms about their relationship.

The pacing is a little bit wonky though? The arc pacing where Yuuto and Shigure first meet each other is perfectly fine, but after that the pacing kind of wavers? It gets kind of fast like one of the reviewers mentioned. Like a more drawn out development of their relationship would have been nice, but I'm content with how it was written too.

I wished that there was more world exploration though, ha ha.

tl;dr: consent-wise there are no qualms. pacing is a bit too hasty. more setting exploration pls!

Review for up to chapter four:

The scanlation team has done a tip-top job, allowing the pretty art to shine and the dialogue to flow. The art in the establishing panels is detailed, helping to create the world, and the boys are drawn simply, but bishounen-lovely and emotionally evocative.

The story itself is fascinating. The character of the young boy has much psychological potential for growth and exploration (drama, angst, tension and self-realization!). Even the adult spy has simmering characterization, ready to spill over into a fascinating person.

But the narrative breakdown is terrible. Terribly fast, that is. This could easily have been a much longer series; I really felt cheated with plot resoltion by the end of chapter four.

I can't rate it in good faith yet because 3 chapters just isn't enough to go by. But, from what i've read so far, im really impressed bigrazz Its exciting, its interesting and the characters are both mysterious so you want to know more about them, also Haight, the prison boy has some bad habits that need breaking *laugh* which speaks for some comedy in the near future of this series.

I just really really hope this doesn't turn out to be shota x__x Haight is pretty young and if anything goes on with him as he is now this will end up classed as shota, which i dont want to see happen...
