Good to pass time

Even though I haven't been very updated with this manga, I still want to read the sequel to the end when the time comes. Let's stop for a moment: this is unbelievably unrealistic, I'm currently re-watching season 1 and wow, how far Prince of Tennis has progressed into a match between humans with such godly powers. It makes me cringe so hard, it's funny tho, but weird. I wouldn't be surprised if this came out as the lowest sport manga in the list, but I can't hate it either because I really like the variety of characters. If the story doesn't engage me, it's these characters to be my guarantee. I throw away my logic and everything is fine! My two cents for new reader, stop at season 1. To be honest, season 2 is still fun to follow, Ryoma and the gang don't dwell on being immature highschooler—the author takes them to the next level, they are in overseas team, U17 stuff. But the downside, because anticipating them as strong maximum, the boundaries fade into one. Season 2 is driven to action and is getting more and more supernatural. That's the biggest mistake.

Oh well I think the title of my comment explain it all. I'm not going to rate it or anything, this series has glimpses of glory it once had, that I once enjoyed, but the longer it drags the more boring it become.

Why Would This Mangaka Continue?

Seriously, the new prince of tennis has no right to exist. It sucks. Whereas the original prince of tennis was a little unrealistic but overall fun, this one is completely out of touch with reality and is at this point just gratuitous. This is not tennis. This is ridiculous. And at this point the author is just beating a dead cash cow to milk out what little $$$ he can.

Definitely read the first prince of tennis, but skip this one over.

The second season is very... unrealistic. Tennis matches becomes magical spars against each other. It's not that it isn't enjoyable, it's just... far from the first and not as... 'tennis' as it should be. Sure the first wasn't realistic either, but it had 'subtle' magical spars, unlike this where there's a pirate-looking guy ( I don't even know). Anyway, I'll give it a 5 for what I've seen so far.

I don't know what I expected going into it, but it sure wasn't that. The whole cast is gathered back together, are forced to have a death match, the eliminated side disappears to train in the woods until they can play tennis w/ 5 balls at a time, and the winning side plays 'high schoolers' who are absolutely insane. Ryoma left to enter the pro circuit when the original ended and now these 'high schoolers' are putting him to shame...

Don't read this!!!

It's ... just like a recycled version of the prequel, except even more unrealistic. IMO, this series should've ended long before the 42 volume length of the prequel but is still being continued.

Yeah, I know, sequels usually aren't as good, but I don't care. Prince of Tennis was just too good. I was so sad when Prince of Tennis was finished. I'm so glad the mangaka decided to keep the series going. I'll be able to read more about Ryoma and others now. I'm super excited for Shin Prince of Tennis. It's just like the first one, full of action/fantasy elements in a tennis manga. If you didn't like the first one, well you're probably not going to like the second. But if you absolutely LOVED the first one, you'll definitely love Shin Prince of Tennis.

There are a lot of people saying that this sequel is just a piece of shit. Personally, I think they don't understand anything. Konomi-sensei, sice the very beginning, wrote Prince of Tennis series just as an INTRODUCTION to this story. You may not like it, but that's how is it.

I still love the characters, and finally Ryoga has appeared in the manga! =)

The only thing I feel dissappointed with are the few chapters on each chapter, but well, there are 2 chapters per month, after all.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the chapters ^_^

I was a fan of the prequel even though it had those retarded-like super special moves and stuff. I was delighted when I found out there will be a sequel but when I read the first chapter, I knew that the next volumes were going to end in disaster.

First of all, why didn't the mangaka just bury it already?! PoT's finished, everyone's done with the craptastic tennis, the 3rd years graduated, Ryoma went to America. Why was there a need for a sequel, especially in a time setting where they were still in middle school? I can only smell money here, phishing out all the money they can from the fans while PoT is still hot. I mean, every chapter was thin, the chapters had about 15 pages of ridiculous "tennis matches" and IT WAS EXPENSIVE than the normal tankoubon! What's with that!

And don't even get me started with the art. It NEVER changed, the characters were still stick-like figures with height like that of a giant's despite them being middle and high schoolers. There was totally no development in the characters, the story and the mangaka's skills as well.

But I continued reading it to give it a try, after all, I can see my favorite characters again. It was too much. I sold the 7 volumes that I had. What a total waste of time and money. I don't get how people can easily say it's "PARFEEEECT 10+++!!" in spite of the stupidity going on in front of their eyes. But eh, it comes down to people's preferences. Have fun everyone. bigrazz
