I can't beleive how many of you seriously hated it after you-know-who...
I almost stopped reading it too, because I was a huge fan of his, but I didn't, and I decided that I would like the rest of it, even without him, and I did! Near might be a bit bland, but Mello definatley isn't! He's my favorite character.
Overall I think it was a very very good story, with lots of suspense, and it was highly addictive. It got a bit boring in books 5 and 6, but then it picked right back up and became my favorite manga ever!

it's really unique that the main character is quite evil..a definite twist to the usual manga's that i've read.

i know this is a bit repetitive but seriously, the L-arc was amazing. i don't get why they didn't just stop there. the near/mello-arc just went completely downhill. it's still an amazing manga but i agree with everyone else when i say the ending sucked and they should've just stopped after the first part.
p.s. was it me or did light get stupider in the second arc?

As much as certain plot twists and the ending were disliked by many (including myself), it doesn't mean that this series deserves less than a perfect rating. It is well-written, with a unique concept that is perfectly developed and the art, of course, is amazing. The latter half of the series shouldn't affect its greatness in the minds of readers.

After what happen to L everything went down the drain ........The whole thing become really boring and the ending is unfulliling and predictable...
Notes: Looks carefully at Light's or Misa's or anyother character eyes...>> It slowly becoming black like L's eyes lol ...Freaky....maybe the artist lost his senses and go insane lol ^^
-First part of the series is worth reading- =]

The second arc... just...no. >_>
When you-know-who died, the whole thing went down the drain.
And the last volume was like a bloodfest. o_O Because Light was an anti-hero, it was hard to see who would win - Kira or L? But after you-know-who died, the whole ending was shining brightly in our faces.
Lamee.
Whatever, I still liked it. >w>
The way to read/watch the Death Note is...
Manga > Anime > Movies > OVA

Well, what would you do if you did really go to HELL and be tormented forever and ever in the real life?
Can you be perfectly composed and then go there with cocky confidence?
Therefore, it's perfectly understandable to see Yagami suddenly changing into another person, so abruptly uncharacteristic.
No matter how awesomely powerful or strong one is, he'd be finally faced with such a frightening scenario and suddenly paled, knowing clearly that there is NO MORE HOPE for him. It is same for everyone of us, human beings of all races.
Though the fitting place for the most ruthless mastermind, Yagami is only Nothingness, nevertheless it's utterly terrifying beyond human imagination.
Overall, I highly rated it 10 stars.

Sianeka i agree with you
second part was suck and the ending not a clever plan
yagami didnt deserve like this and his responding
i know mangaka wants to show us that afterall even yagami is human but i dont like it.after L died there is no need to continue it. the battle already decided.
L and Yagami both interesting and very good characters. especially yagami is realistic.and i really liked it when shinagimi sacrifed herself for misamisa. 12years old brats sacrife themselves for their love.im sick of it
if you were yagami what will you do with notebook?i dont dislike his way of thinking. first part 10/10

[edit by mod, Warning: spoilers]
It was good until vol 8, then I lost interest. (cause you know who died, don't know if spoilers are allowed...) Everything was boring afterwards. Ending was as excepted.

Kira would lose, yada yada yada.
All in all, it was a good run. Heard that there is going to be a light novel as the prelude to the series. You must login to comment for this series! Register an account.
