Description
Maki-kun goes to look at the results of his high school entrance exam results and meets a beautiful girl. Could this be a fated encounter? He's thrilled to find out that the same girl, Aikawa Kizuna, not only ends up going to his school, but is in his class. However, he's not so thrilled when he find out that Aikawa isn't a girl! Not a girl, and not really a guy, kind of both--and Maki finds himself getting along with popular Aikawa, getting pulled in to his pace!

This isn't yaoi, and this isn't shounen-ai. This manga is amazing for being one of the rare, special manga that portrays the complexities of gender and sexual identity in real life in an approachable, charming, way that really draws you in. Prunus Girl challenges you with a main character--the love interest--who's not outright transgender, but refuses to cram himself into either of the "boy" or "girl" boxes. He's both and neither, and I think this will make people more uncomfortable than this being "yaoi"--which it's not. This is a shounen romance through and through, where the relationship just happens to not fit gender norms.
I love this sensitive portrayal and especially the main character Maki for being able to accept Aikawa and choose both the "cola" and the "peach" candy because that's just who Aikawa is. I really hope the mangaka doesn't make a horribly regrettable decision due to outside pressure, but the way the story has been going so far, I'm going to keep the faith. I'm really looking forward to reading a lot more!
For people who like this, try the manga IS, which is about intersexuality.

| Okay at first I thought the cover girl was so KAWAII! BUT! it feel apart..... his A GUY! and like a total disappointment but again I was disappointed at myself after reading it! its awesome not your ordinary gender bender. Its just shows that don't judge the manga because it turns out to be yaoi. But really if you don't know his a guy its kinda confusing specially his looks. |

okay... so far it´s intresting but there´s one problem what gender is that boy/girl? I´m really confused because of that. I mean he/she claims to be a guy but why does that other guy act like he/she is a girl plus if there´s any romantic wouldn´t it be yaoi? |

the first 3 chapters were titilating but the next 3 were boring. Also people are too accepting to the point where there´s no difference whether the guy hooks up or not.
Also I don´t like the myth that the main characters tend to be loser guys but going to the other extreme of a superman seems out of place in the story. It just adds nothing and detracts from the story. It really adds nothing to the story. At worst it just makes the other boy´s attraction to him be less about that one moment they met alone, and more a vapid girl going after the best. |

Well; For me this one is better than No bras; since you in a myth dont know whether "this one" is male or female; and there is a lot of amusing situation make the main character wish that "this one" is really a girl. For those want to know i will say from my own experience; there is a mutant disease called Swyer syndrome like this; the person genotype is XY which is male however the expression is female due to the lacking of SRY on chromosome Y which will express to male. Therefor the person will has the body of female but since they dont secrete estrogen so they dont have breast or menstruate; also they wont able to have child. They must inject these lacking hormone to develop normally; but still they can't have child it pretty sad though

I admit, i didn't like it at first or bother reading it because it has gender bender in it. Usually I don't believe that gender bender are not my taster, but this manga prove otherwise. Wow just Wow. This manga is just wow. I can't stop laughing at every moment. I mean the main guy is just on the line of straight to gay because the he/she is just so cute. Must read why because you will see for yourself

well,this is something you can't even compare to anything, the art is so great the character are so well-drawn that even impress me,even other popular manga can't satisfy me,but this Mangaka is so awesome his art style is so perfect for manga,i want to know his other work if there any.
about the story, really outstanding,even tho there's Gender Bender genre,the comedy seems different to me than any other manga,
i really love Aikawa face, somewhat unnoticed attracted to his face...
really wonderful.

| There are mangas that you don't like, or even you avoid them because of the genres, but there's something in particular that makes you want to keep going with it, in this case, it's all about the 2 lead character's interaction. I just wanna see how does it evolve and what happens in the end, whether it's what i wanted it to be or not. |
