From Entropy:

Seriu meets Yae, an older woman in the photography club, who’s also a celebrity at her university known for her free-spirited speech and mannerisms—especially her magnificent travels from man to man! What’s intriguing, though, is their relationship. Frustrated and formerly part of the tennis club, Seriu thinks that his girlfriend is just a bit of heavy baggage, but he unexpectedly gets off to a good start with her! Even though they hurt each other with their honest confessions, they grow with each other. Yasashii Watashi is essentially a compassionate romantic drama set in a university setting.

Well, some people just can't stop dwelling on the past, huh?

Spoiler (highlight to view)
Ending is quite tragic, but I suppose everyone saw that it was bound to happen anytime. I too share the feeling of helplessness as I also come across situations like this from time to time. Even if all of the friends were to know of the girl's predicament sooner, I don't think they could've done much to help. The ex-boyfriend for example, knew it, and could have offered a solution, but that'd require his sacrifice and you can't force everything on anyone.

Art-wise, okay and simple. Story-wise, I dunno, maybe having the cousin's chapter told seperately from the girlfriend's story is a good idea after all; it allows readers to see the connection between the two more easily.

...if you've only read the first couple of chapters, that is.
Like so many other manga I like, it's not a very happy one. That's not to say it leaves you totally depressed or anything, but let's just say that the beginning brings you up just to throw you down. (Hard, I think some would feel.)
One other thing I like is that the actual feelings of the characters are pretty much never thought/spoken aloud, you have to pick them up from the images/the hidden meaning/the context. That sort of thing just makes it all the stronger, there's nothing so lame as the shounen/shoujo where every single thought, no matter how banal, is explained in a bubble or a narration frame.

And another thing... The art, which just gets more awesome the more intense the scene. Much better than that crappy Ookiku Furikabutte she went on to do next.

So far the characters are interesting. But, I hope Yae wakes up & dumps her soon. I think that she is self-centered & selfish. He is such a sweet guy!!!

I've only read the first chapter so far (it's a long one though, 60 some pages), but both of the protaganists are absolutely charming.
It's starting off as a sweet and wonderful read and I can hardly wait for more.

Cheers to Entrophy for this doing this lovely story.
