the reason why people don't read hana yori dango at first is because the art is bad at first, but at volume 9 or 10, the art starts to improve more and more. HYD's artwork increases over the years, and Cat Street is written after HYD so that's why.

Don't give up on Hana Yori Dango people, Cat Street is a good shoujo series, but you DEFINETELY don't want to miss out on HYD.

i love this authors work!!!!! and it gets better and better!! my fav i would have to say and i want more. i found chapter 15 and 16 translated by a different group but i haven't read 14 so i'm a wee but sad : (

I personally like Cat Street a lot better than Hana Yori Dango. The art makes it that much better. I could not get past 5 chapters of Hana Yori Dango because I could not stand the art. For me, reading manga means good art and good plot. Cat Street is a really sweet manga. It's really refreshing to see a girl turn her life around and meet new friends. The description does not do it justice. The situations are unique and interesting. The characters seem alive. I guess the only criticism I have of it is that it could be more exciting? But I'm only 4 volumes into the series (for me, that's not a lot). I definitely recommend it to people who like shoujo.

Edit: After finishing the series, I would say that it's quite bland. There could be more drama (usually in shoujo, there's too much), so I guess this manga is more true to life. Overall, it's a nice read. A bit anti-climatic in places. More things could have happened, worse things could of happened. All-in-all, it's a very hopeful manga. I really like the characters, they all have really big dreams and hopes. And it's just nice to watch it happen.

only artwork better than hyd.
story itself isnt really interesting.The artwork alone didnt makes this one a worthwhile read.
i wont buy something for art. one of the most overrated manga in the bakaupdates. hyd storyline , characters far better.
nobody buy manga because of artwork. good plot bad artwork more atractive than bad plot good art.

I tried so hard to really like this series. But it seems to be missing something for me a certain spark. The characters all seem to be kind of flat and plain sort of lifeless. Also, the main plot is lacking in my opinion. I found myself not caring what happens to none of these characters; thus, it became boring to me.

The only good thing I can say about Cat Street is the artwork is better compared to Hana yori dango. But, plot wise I'd say Kamio Youko other work HYD is way better.

Yes, I think Cat Street is better than HYD. The art is MUCH better, but that's not the only thing. They're different to each other, but I prefer CS in it's way of dealing with friendships, real life and the whole 'hope' thing. I like all the characters (weeeell, except for that sort of pathetic girl who can't help herself but even she is a good character), they're all well-developed.

But...where's the romance?! I like Keito with Kouichi, but I get the feeling she might end up with one of the other two. D:

I read the description and was really iffy about it, but this series has a lot of depth. I mean, the characters are like real people, they all have their own agendas and problems, but try to help each other out. The art is pretty compared to HYD. <3 I cried a couple of times...
It's one of those 'you feel bad for everyone, even the people who are suppose to be bad guys' sort of feel. I can't even tell it's a shojo, and that's really great. It's not a copy and paste story. ^o^

all of the characters are unique and different^ ^ and it's very cute how the computer dude(forgot his name) helps keito^ ^!!!

This manga is pretty good so far, it has a lot of depth to it and it doesn't rush things as well which is always a plus. The charcters are well thought out and the art is cute. Kamio's work has definately improved since HYD and this manga looks promising to be a really great series.

This manga is so interesting! I can really relate to how she felt when she's feels like you're not moving. Life stops. Favorite manga.
