4th story is my favorite

The first story is about a guy who has a photographic memory. This leads him to avoid connections with people as he remembers every bits of what they've done to him. The guy is cold but the heroine is the typical annoying shoujo heroine.

The third story is about friendship. The story is about a girl who wants to talk to her decease friend. This is a bit cliche and not that interesting.

The last story as the title said, is more about cinderella meets her prince. I like the story though. It reminds me a bit of Lovely Complex and Parfait Tic. The heroine works hard to keep up with her newly found love. The guy is cute. He doesn't have to blush all the time to make the story cute.

It was all but too promising. I feel the mangaka could have done more with this. Akizuki > Mika, except that he too, at the end,

"falls in love" with her, for a reason I couldn't foresee
. The narration got a -1 as well. The other stories left me with the same feeling.

I have mixed feelings about this story. Akizuki has to be one of the most interesting characters I've come across in shoujo manga - well-developed, brilliantly-flawed, the least-cliche interpretation of the megane-danshi cliche I've ever seen. The excellence of that characterization is kind of negating by the presence of Mika, who has to be the most irritatingly self-centered, whiny protagonist I've ever read in a genre that thrives on self-cented, whiny protagonists. Somewhere along the line I hoped that the story would have her develop further and realize that she shouldn't keep the person she loves from achieving greatness, but that never happened. She cared for nothing but her own shoujo sparkles till the flowery end. It was a disappointingly ridiculously flowery end, by the way, and managed to drop the story back to the level of the escapist fantasies that dominate shoujo oneshots.

Yeah, the character Akizuki deserves a better setting than this.

During your first read of this, chances are, you'll be reading too fast and didn't save any time to truly savour the manga.

Veins (or at least the two-shot that has been released so far) is an amazing story-- this is the first time that I have ever seen such a splendid characterization of the 'cool genius' romantic stereotype! And his falling in love was completely believeable too.

I would definitely recommend the Veins two-shot! As for the rest of this volume-anthology, if its even half as good was, I'd still give this entire volume a full 10/10!
