Lift-off!

Haha, just a makeshift way at illustrating a boy's troubles at romanticism. Also, a clever way at exaggerating the changes boys make in high school. (Although, boys turn into men, not spaceships)

Fuji is given all the necessary personality traits for a character in 'Bleach'. He's stubborn, short-tempered, hot-headed and very impulsive, especially in his brief encounters with alien contact. Give him a sword and nice old-fashioned garments and he's probably ready to star as the new Shinigami. We can easily overlook the contrive counterfeiting of Fuji's character, because the author knows that shounen guys are like that, and they're easy to relate with, despite much complication.

Fuji's desire for love is anything but desperate, although he's envious of others, Fuji's quick to show that he couldn't care less. Taking the word of his former crush, who in spite of not believing in love, got married. With only 45 pages to develop an A-class character like Fuji, we need to know that this guy wasn't born yesterday, and can grow on his own. He may need a few 'Lift-Offs' to figure it out, but he finally reaches his plateau thanks to his alien friend Yuu.

First timer, Masaru Miyokawa is no ordinary author, he likes to use ideas that, most likely, popped into his head after watching an episode of American Dad. A story like this should have needed a bit more pacing, and little less action to get it started. But Masaru says 'screw that' and tries his hardest to sprint through this entire story. Which arguably, might've been the best thing for his work with this genre.

Masaru definitely has the skills to paint us a wonderful series, and probably still has the skills leftover to answer to a premise as wishy-washy as 'What if the main character was a space ship?'

A decent start to his career. I'm looking forward to it. With Masaru's artistic flavour, albeit rather conventional, he has the means to take off and fly farther than any planet in his way.

yeah...cant help but point out that it is weird...
the boy became a spaceship!!!
but i havent seen that anywhere else so might as well also say that it is unique...
the action is nicely drawn..
but the sci-fi stuff is kindda hard to comprehend.. <or my brain is just fried from studying>
the romance...
well its also weird because the Yuu is so tiny!!!
but other than that said the villain is hilarious!!! <otaku...lolz>

pretty much its worth reading for the action...

I can honestly say this is the best "girl turns boy into her own personal spaceship" manga I've ever read. It's also the only one, but that's beside the point. Good for casual reading, but nothing you'll think back on later (except for joking about the premise).
