Description
Fateful Encounters:
The story is about a college student, Saitou Yakumo, who was born with different eye colors. His red left eye gave him a special ability to see ghosts and spirits. He believes ghosts and spirits are bound to earth because of a certain 'cause' and simply by eliminating that 'cause' will help those spirits rest in peace. Being asked for help by Ozawa Haruka, together they begin their investigation.
Simply a quality horror/mystery story mixed with a slow-paced storyline of the main character's past and current companions. Going to be honest - most things solely revolving around horror disturb me to no end. They're just too dark and crazy for my standards, but the crafty detective work involved in this very well done. I don't have tons to compare it to, but from what I can see it's neatly package, understandable and complex enough to keep you thinking (in terms of horror, it's not too scary though). The artwork is fantastic and the main characters are pretty solid overall. I agree that the girl (haruka) isn't the strongest character (sometimes she gets in the way, but can be helpful) in terms of detective work, but her position in the story in relation to Yakumo is good enough to make her important and likable. - and yes, there is (so far) very subtle romance.
There are small parts where boredom can set in (usually in the beginning of arcs or when the main characters aren't shown for a while) but that's probably unavoidable for plot setup.. In all: it's pretty dang good :3 Go for it!
love its twist and turns. Really makes your brain think, the mysteries just get better and better. At first I could guess the ending, but it started getting more and more complicated......really love it. I got kinda confused but then I understood. Sometimes I hate how the story outsmarts me and gets me surprised but its very entertaining and fun to read. This should be a popular manga....hope there's more updates! Really want to see some advancement in relationships ....but I think the female lead..what should I say...she's kind of....I wish the author made her more useful. I don't understand how she can investigate. All she does is cause trouble and.....I kinda think of her as a tagalong. But the story is awesome greatly recommended.
I've been meaning to say this, but I disagree to the people who says that other than the art of this manga, it couldn't compare to the earlier version. I actually prefer the story on this one--it's much more thrilling and detailed. Somehow, it just creates this 'detective' aura that the other version seems to not have much. I should have said this earlier but I keep forgetting to write a review.
Anyway, great read. Art and story's most definitely awesome. I can't even think of anything negative on this one. Give it a try.
This is actually pretty good. I mean the characterisation its as great as the other version of this but the storyline is definitely amazing! I mean read the other version and then come to this because they're both great mangas though if the other version had kept going i think it might have been hard to create stories but it also would have been better than this version. But none-the-less read this!
Some of the stories are indeed a bit the same, but it does NOT contain the EXACT SAME THING. There are additional characters and plot points that exists in this one (I read the first one as well). It explores a lot more into the downside of having such an eye and ability.
As everyone can see, it is longer than the previous manga. The previous one is more light in terms of reading and style. This one is deeper and more dramatic.
Totally support the manga. If it extends further, then it would be better. Add more cases! HAHA. It has so much more potential than people think. I think it's along the lines of Conan in terms of dimensions, dynamics, and appeal.
The stories arent the same as the old version. Only the first case is similar, the next case is different from the previous manga version. This new manga version follows the novel more and while the previopus manga version covered the cases in the first volume in the novel, this new version covers the cases from Volume 2. And I like this newer version better as the artwork is more superior and the story telling is more original and more dark and sinister. Hope OMFGG continues scanlating this, as they are doing an excellent job
It's the same thing as "Shinrei Tantei Yakumo - Akai Hitomi wa Shitteiru" same story, same characters, same development... Though I liked the previous one, so I'll read this one too, still... even the stories are the same!!!
A manga adaption Yakumo has already been done, but it was only 2(?) volumes. I liked a lot though, so I'm happy to see it again. I hope this time it goes on longer. The plot is as the summary says: A young man, who can see ghosts helps put them to rest. Not as boring as it sounds. The characters are nice, too.
Update: Well I guess this one is only 2 volumes as well? If that's the case I'm not sure why they made 2 manga adaptions.
