High hopes after the oneshot were slowly sunken and then smashed at the end

This manga has the same problem as C^3 light novel - it has fights, plot twists, ero/guro/both ... And that's it. Except this is only four volumes so I managed to read the whole thing without dropping it. By the end of the third volume I could already tell where the plot twists would appear, just not what they were.

As for the ending, I discussed with my friend and we came to a conclusion:
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Saaya's last wish was a post-death one. She didn't use it until her first job, and then wished to see the end of Azuma's novel. Now Minamida, probably under control of an evil spirit, is carrying it out in real life. And if that spirit is the cousin, then it would explain father's behavior

Either that, or the author just got lost in the whole thing, and decided to quit and fake axing it.

EDIT: Another possibility that just came to my mind is that
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Saaya wished to never be seen making a mistake again(or simply to not go to hell), and this whole thing is just her and her last wish orchestrating everything and everyone to make that happen because she made some sort of a mistake related to the Aida family.

The ending's so bad that you shouldn't read this at all.

Seriously, Do Not Read This. It's a pretty interesting story with nice art and characters and stuff, the writing's at least decent, but this is a mystery story where there's a bunch of fantasy crap going on and the ending doesn't tell you who the culprit was. I mean it, don't read this, you'll definitely regret it.

Chapters 1 ~ 17 was golden. It started off pretty strong with an interesting concept and expanded on that as the manga progressed to solving the main mystery. Problem is, the mystery is hyped up to sht leaving the readers wanting more only to have nothing solved by the conclusion. There is no proper closure.

Personally, I don't let the ending affect my score too much. Rushed/Axed endings are common and I've read my fair share of them. In that sense, this read wasn't bad at all.

This is the most wretched "ending" ever, just dumping a bunch of clues in your lap & telling the reader to "please think about it". Even just outright saying "the butler did it" would have been a better ending than this garbage.

.. unless you want to have the worst axed ending experience ever. It's basically a mystery novel that ends before the main mystery is solved. To give perspective, the last line of this manga is quote: "Please try to think about who the culprit is."

There's no way to end this easy

It's a tough life being a writer for a serialized story, whether it be TV shows, or mangas. Sure you get to write as you go, meaning you don't even know what the future is for your own characters before you get paid to put them into your world on paper. But the bad part is you have to be able to extend the story at any point if your boss deems it good, or end it (often abruptly) if the sales are bad.

And this manga received the latter, at the worst opportune moment because in the penultimate chapter we were just introduced first time to a vital character, perhaps even the main antagonist. Too bad it had to end at the place it did where there was no room to fit what could've been in the author's mind: a year worth of chapters (this is a monthly magazine), into 31 pages. So he had to do what he did, which was surprising to say the least, but again there's nothing else he could've done. There's no way he could have after showing the antagonist, only for him to get captured and brought to justice and everyone live happily ever immediately the next chapter.

Can a bad ending really ruin a good series?

I wasn't sure before, but after reading this manga I have concluded that yes it can. It really can.

Actually, simply describing the ending as 'bad' doesn't do it justice. It's abrupt to the point of absurdity. Not only was it ended on a cliffhanger and an unresolved mystery, but a bunch of new (apparently important) facts were suddenly introduced in the last chapter with barely any development. Was the father's cousin even mentioned anywhere before? They say a grand total of like two sentence about her but apparently she's critically important to the mystery somehow. Come on, that isn't being 'open', that's just bad writing.

I get it, the series didn't sell well and was canned prematurely. But still, there are better ways to end it than this. Actually, pretty much *anything* is a better way to end it than this. Had the final chapter simply not existed that would have been a better ending than this.

FUCK THIS STUPID SHIT. DON'T READ IT. DON'T FUCKING READ IT. DON'T EVEN LOOK AT IT. I know rushed endings can be bad but this is fucking ridiculous. If i was given the opportunity i would punch the author in the face. Seriously though, if you read my comment before you read the series, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON'T READ IT.

Oh btw, this is all coming from a person who loved this series until about 15 minutes ago(the last chapter was released then).
