Takes a long time to.... become interesting.

First of i would like to say that to any one who was happy that they got a chill MC in shaman king should NOT read this. Hana behaves like a brat, is too eager and doesn't have patience, that said the story slowly starts to reveal it self a tiny bit, I aggre that if Takei made the mc more like Yoh it would seem more like an extension of SK luckly (or unluckly) he manage to create the exact opposite of Yoh. You will see some old faces and a lot of new ones. The new "team" seems to get the same type of characters SK did. And there are new Powers and stronger enmies. The story itself is not all to bad although you will feel very lost at the start.(I still kind of do)

Takes a while to... take off?

At the beginning I was really annoyed with the pace of the manga - it seemed like it was a boring extension of SK but without that ingredient which made me sit on the edge of my chair. However, after 5-6 chapters, things seem to take off - and at chapter 20 now, I can definitely foresee a lot of action in a future fight of epic proportions, much like the final fight in the previous series, which lasted about 30 chapters. Call me crazy in my optimism - but from where things stand right now
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
with Hana apparently being even more powerful than Hao was and other Gods being involved
I have a feeling - dare I say - that Flowers will be even better than SK, provided Takei owns up to his reputation and doesn't bails out on the plot at hand due to his laziness.

Hana is very different when compared to Yoh - think a combination of Horohoro's impertinence and Ren's aggressiveness - a perfect recipe for disaster. So I understand why some fans attached to Yoh's friendly and relaxed attitude wouldn't particularly like the change in MC.
However, if Hana was indeed just like Yoh(personality wise), then Flowers would be nothing more than an AU version of the original series - so Hana' personality is a change that somewhat limits that feeling of deja vu.
Also, I have to mention that Alumi's catty personality is nothing like Anna's cold, calculated demeanor).

All in all - I would definitely recommend this to SK fans and new readers alike - just be warned - do not expect it to simply take off where SK stopped - there are new things waiting in store.

Not a bad sequel

I read the oneshot when it was first out, and I had no interest in it (especially with the new Anna). Recently, after seeing various tumblr posts on the manga, I decided to give the serialization chapters a shot. I grew to like the characters. Even the new Anna doesn't bug me anymore. the only thing that bothers me a bit is the art style lol.

Well it would be interesting to see Hana's life with his personailty lol. On page 10-11 he looks like a girl to. Only thing thats not really satisfying is that the girl at the end looks to much like anna, personnally it would be more interesting to at least have the girls personailty more timid.
