While trying to recover his transparent-like existence, his feelings began to change... A story released by Reimon, a long genuine series, first volume! [BangAQUA]
so much cryyyyy! I know reading this you are going to be thinking, "girl, there is NEVER a good enough extenuating circumstance for incest..." but in this case just trust me, by the end you will want these two people to be together. Ike Reibun takes a ridiculous, potentially laughably absurd star-crossed lovers situation and makes you really really feel for the characters. Try to summarize the story out loud and you'll say to yourself, "wow, how the hell did I take this so seriously?" But that's the magic of Ike Reibun. I flipping love this woman.
Im a super picky reader so this must be great for me to give it a 10/10. The art, the story, the emotions, the pains, everything is just perfect. I hate father x son incest but this totally win me over. The only father x son incest I can approve.
Okay, the plot was really, really confusing. I couldn't keep up with the time thingy and their age, and I practically couldn't get what's happening and had to stopped a few pages to sink the story into my head. But it didn't stop me from reading this of course. The characters were okay, although I think that the love delaying thing is not necessary (and I'm wondering how come Konomi doesn't age at all when Ryou is already all grown up and an adult at that!). The art was nice (as expected of Ike Reibun) and well, other than the complicated plot, everything else was fine. :> I kinda liked the setting. But really, the plot is just way too complicated. It'll probably take a lot of time to understand what's going on. Dx
I actually went into reading this manga without any prior knowledge or background information, so I had no idea what I was getting into. As I realized this was a yaoi incest manga I was pretty shocked but just silently accepted it and continued on reading. Till the end I was wishing they were not actually blood related and that he was a step dad. But no. This is a drama and not just your typical cookie cutter yaoi. This was actually an amazing read but I suppose it's more fitting for older yaoi readers, not old in age but rather in experience of reading yaoi. I tend to stay away from drama because whenever I read I get really emotional (this series made me shed several tears). However I loved the mangaka for keeping it as real as possible as far as the characters' personal and inner conflicts. You really have to keep your mind open but the characters have no problem convincing you to forget your morals.
Incest manga I've read before always consisted of marriage-relations, so I'm not sure they can even be considered incest. This is the first blood-relation romance I've read. Maybe I'm more open-minded than I thought, because I couldn't help tossing all social norms from my list of values. I could only think, "They really love each other! That should be all the counts. Who cares if they're father and son?!"
While I probably won't read this over and over again, it's definitely worth at least one read in my book (no pun intended!). The story is really unique, captivating, and well-paced. You experience the conflict in the characters' hearts as they struggle between what society believes is right and what they feel is right. Everything eventually comes to a full circle. The characters are also quite developed; in the end, you know exactly why they fell in love. There were some parts that I felt could've been better, but all in all, I'm very satisfied.
Personally, I would rate the art an 8 out of 10. It was definitely leaning towards the high end of my scale. The mangaka did a good job drawing the characters as they grew up, and there are a lot of details showing that time has passed, like different hairstyles or different glasses. I especially loved Konomi! He was so cute as a teenager, and as an adult, he's still cute but in a very sexy way! Ryou is pretty sexy, too, so the smutty scenes are guaranteed hot.
Not Equal is a very beautiful love story. It made me realize that it's not fair to judge the others' love as right or wrong, just like it's not right to judge others' emotions. After all, isn't love the greatest emotion of all?
This is possibly one of the best yaoi manga I've read. As a lover of yaoi incest, of course I read it without hesitating.
I really liked the plot, first of all. It's a very heartbreaking story and I many times felt like crying a bit. This manga really shows the fact that a father and son absolutely can't be together. I mean, the characters are feeling that way. I've read many incest where they jump into bed as soon as they know they feel the same. Of course, the dad never even knew that the man was his own child in the time traveling. That's why I don't blame him at all and I don't think it's strange that he fell in love with him. On Ryou's part, though, I think it was a bit strange that he fell in love with his own dad... But since Konomi was much younger and all, I'm fine with it.
The art is really good, in my opinion. I especially like the mouths. They are detailed and I like that. The expressions are all good, and they are also quite detailed and sometimes only because of the heartbreaking expressions I've felt like crying just because it's really like you can feel their pain.
Overall, it's a really good yaoi, so I'm definitely giving this a 10.
I read these 2 volumes without reading the summary or what specific genre it was. I was like, "I'm in the mood for surprise, so surprise me!" And I REALLY got surprised. I guess I get for what I asked.
Well, other people's reviews pretty much hit the spot. Time-traveling and incest. Sure sounds lame. However, Ike Reibun-sensei really made it into a bitter-sweet heart-twisting story. It sure surprise how much depth to the character's thoughts as we read from their point of view.
Someone mentioned about the watermark. Truth be told, it didn't annoy me and I didn't quite notice it as I was reading it. It was placed well where it won't get in the way when reading.
I'm surprised how well the story was well-written and the art was spectacular as usual. I recommend this manga to yaoi fans. Even if you don't like incest, I'll tell you that it doesn't feel like it at all. Just 2 character's deep emotions and thoughts that would touch your heart instead.
I started reading this without knowing anything about it at all (which I highly recommend by the way!) and was so shocked by all the twists and things that happened, it was awesome! The story is so incredibly captivating! I loved the whole tragedy in this manga, you can really feel with the characters, all their pain and worries... it almost made me cry at the end of the first volume... I also thought the smut scenes were pretty sexy as well! I also highly recommend reading it a second time eventually because it's just so much clearer why his father reacts this way in the beginning of the story and all that! Things that you don't pay attention to the first time through! For me personally, this is definitely one of those big yaoi titles that had an impact when I read them, the kind I'll always love and never forget about.
Only negative points I can find lie with the scanlation, image quality too low, too small fonts, some weird spelling mistakes, and their overly huge watermark on every page ug! I bet the manga would be even more enjoyable with those things fixed so I would definitely buy an official release of this work!
Recommended to anyone (except people who have a huge huge problem with incest, but even then I'd still recommend it because it's just too good to pass up!)
Reading all the other reviews, I'm a bit confused as to what people are reading. For me, this was a beautiful story that had a good pace throughout the two volumes.
For the plot, time travelling is a bit of a stretch in a drama and incest based BL, especially as the catalyst. However, this opened up to the father and son relationship. It makes the incest completely logical. I'm not a fan of incest (I didn't see the incest tag when I read this), I don't feel disgusted with this pairing at all. The emotions are 90% convincing. The 10% missing is because I don't see how you can have sex with a 15year old without internal struggle (ignoring the incest of course). The emotions in this is just overwhelming. This takes incest to a whole different level (in a good way)
The art: Ignore the horrible cover. The content is completely different. Every cover art I've seen has been gross. Like some rape scene. WHICH is so not true. The inside however, was pretty good. I wouldn't say wonderful or anything because there aren't any reason to describe the art as that. The art is just, suitable. A bit sketchy at times, but fine. The expressions are the best parts. There's a lot of detail on the mouth, which is the most critical point of an expression. The H scenes are a bit lacking but that is not the point of this manga. In fact, I wouldn't have minded if they skipped it.
A reviewer mentioned they were quite tired after reading it. Yes. I agree, but in a good way. This manga stimulates a lot of brainwork. It's tiring in the sense that normally you don't go through this many emotions in 30mins.
When I read the comments I wasn't convinced about reading this, but, I mean, it's IKE Reibun...so I read it anyway. It was a really good story, I don't have issues with incest, maybe because i'm too open minded (my friends tell me if i was more so, my brain would spill out), anyway, really good story, dealt well with the issues at hand. I would have given it a 10, but it was a bit too heavy at times, I know the issue deserves it, but when I finished this I was quite tired, so i'm giving it a 9.
