Boring
by Glad-kun

Rating: 4.0  / 10.0
Dropped on ninth volume.
The whole manga focuses almost solely on the relationship of the protagonist couple... Which would have been fine if the characters were interesting or at least likeable, or if they had some some sort of interesting chemistry, but they aren't and they don't. And yet, it has 13 or 15 volumes.
Haruna is annoyingly hyper, too fixated on the whole boyfriend thing. Yoh is boring. Support cast is unremarkable and doesn't get much spotlight.
There is no plot.
And yet, this is more popular than KareKano and higher rated than a lot of good stuff... How?

i don't know how to explain it, this is not the first time i have read some mangas like this. But you know, i'd enjoyed this manga so much. Oh, my, i love the female lead character. She's so dense, simple minded, but she has a big heart and great personality. She cares people a lot, hard worker, determined and earnest. She don't even know how to lied, hahahaha biggrin And more importantly, she isn't like any of female character in those cliche shoujo mangas, annoying, fractious and weak, :/ And the male lead? He just too cool, Huwaaaa.. >.< and cares a lot with his lover, i love him! They are really suit each other. I can see the perfect couple here #okey-it's-just-my-opinion

And the only problem is The male lead's younger sister.

what they always said, a sweet devil, huh! she just a little bitch who only cares about herself. Makes herself as if she the most beautiful princess in the world, that should get the attention of anyone around her. It's pissed me off.

Yeah, but overall, other than that, everything is good. I love the whole story, and can't wait for the side story or the prequel, #if-they-are-available biggrin

Not Cliche Romance

Though its kinda cliche that a high school girl just wants to have a boyfriend, the story make it new and interesting by making Haruna a sporty girl! Her character adds loads of fun in this story, and Yoh balance it out? They are really a very cute couple!! It's a very recommended series! =)

I liked it, especially how they became a couple pretty early on in the series so it focused more on their personal relationship. It was really funny and I liked both Haruna and Yoh very much.

Don't know if it's good enough to revisit in the future, but it's definitely one of those mangas people should read at least once. Give it a shot, it's brilliant!

Really cute story. I's the second time I've read it. Yoh is such a cutie and Haruna is just so dense and funny XP
I would like to see what happens with Asaoka and Mami, I wish there was hope for those two X3
The only think I didn't like about it was Asami, she's such a self centered brat, makes me want to slap her around.

Cliche that works

Despite its differences to mainstream shoujo, this work is still pretty much a mainstream shoujo work and it has many of the shoujo cliches that you find everywhere... what makes this shoujo different and I think superior to most other mainstream shoujo is that its cliches actually work. They are not just repetitions of same-old-tired storylines and images but actually have some level of depth and quirky comedy to them that makes you smile.

I found this quite a light hearted read and fun. It is nothing great, but it is definitely decent. I especially like the heroine as she, despite the cliches, has a strong and blunt character which shoujo heroines usually lack.

The story was fine. Its not the best but its decent. The heroine was pretty different from your usual bishoujo like heroines, but the male lead.....its the usual. the popular guy. The art is pretty good and the story can be related to in some aspects. I wouldnt say its completely cliched but i have to tell you, it has the feeling as other stereotypical works. Well, thats I think.

I love this series, especially in the beginning. There is a lot of humor in the first several volumes, and I felt connected to Haruna's efforts. I have read the first volume a lot, simply because I physically own it. I love the simplicity and the romance and how Yoh helped Haruna and was drawn to her from the start. It was cute and happy-feeling.

The only problem I had was that towards the end (last couple of volumes or so), everything was dragged out. yes, some of the characters were getting ready to graduate, so that was a goal, but I felt as if though there was nothing left to hold the series up to the quality it had initially. One thing I was disappointed with was the fact that Haruna still stayed naive and silly. I liked that about her in the beginning, but I got tired of it after 10 volumes and so on. Also, I know this is trivial for the story, but I noticed the characters were drawn more young and child-faced in the later volumes. So to me, it looked liked Haruna was aging backwards and not maturing, despite finding love.

However, I plan on re-reading the series soon to refresh my perspective. Overall, this manga is strong and despite being cliche it presents itself well except towards the end where it falls a bit short.

Unsatisfactory, but funny

I reread this manga with the remembrance of it being quite good. It seems like I was wrong. Haruna is just that same typical "try hard, do good" high school girl you see basically everywhere and Yoh...well, Yoh's okay, besides him being so angry all the time. I agree with the last poster who said everyone in the manga had problems. But maybe I was just constantly annoyed by that "sag/bag" effect the mangaka decided to add to Yoh's eyes. I guess it worked for the rest of you, but it didn't flatter me at all. So that's how I am on the drawings and the characters.

As for the story itself, I couldn't stand it.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
She freaked out over a kiss. =_= Sure, it was with another guy, but it's not that big of a deal...but I guess this isn't the first time it's happened in shoujo, and her reactions to it were pretty epic and totally worth it. xD

But that's pretty much where I stopped caring.

You get one problem after the other, and it's not one single consistent problem that creates a plot, but more of just random events just to show how new Haruna is at love (still? This far in?), I suppose. Just your typical shoujo, and maybe I'm just a little annoyed at how paltry some of the issues are.

But nonetheless, while I wanted to give it a 2 for lack of plot or anything really, I bumped it up because it is actually really funny sometimes. xD

Read it if you want to burn some time. It's only 52 chapters (but 52 long ones at that...) and so it's not very long. Have fun, if you can. bigrazz But I recommend watching the live action, because that was hilarious, with an awesome soundtrack.

Realistic Enough to be Relatable

But not so much that it's boring. The characters are sweet, flawed, and truly care for each other. Haruna and Yoh make a great couple. The compliment each other really well, and the 'will they/wont they' doesn't go on too long. Great read, perfect length, and a great slice of life romance.
