Truth be told, I don’t really know what to make of this. The twisted, dark ambience of the first round of chapters pulled me in easily enough and I adored Miyako and Toma’s early relationship more than words can describe. Sadahiro-sensei could write a prequel to this regarding only their time in the orphanage and I would be the first in line to purchase it. According to the first couple of chapters or so, I also felt that the story could become one of those rare moments in BL where Angst, Perversion and some kind of Love (a severely unhealthy kind of love) gather beautifully and evolve near to perfection.

Twas not the case, unfortunately.

I still felt very much compelled by both Toma and Miyako (and especially by the latter), but the plot started to drag into quite familiar waters. I love yakuza-themed BL so the story could easily carry on that direction and still leave me satisfied. Instead, it just set out to repeat the same half-assed pattern of the love triangle in a hardly surprising Master-Servant relationship. Itsuki was so plainly uninteresting, an utter cliché, an utter bore, absolutely predictable in his actions, and inevitably he dragged the whole plot downhill. The moment he first appeared I started to fear this would happen and it did. Way to ruin a plot in its way to magnificence! (ahah, sorry, got carried away a little there…)

It wasn't a terrible read or anything, far from that. The smut is just to Sadahiro-sensei’s fans taste and I'm guessing the story, as a whole, won’t disappoint the majority of them. However, I think the only reason that made keep on reading this was the hope of glimpsing more into Toma and Miyako’s twisted and terrible past and like I said--- didn't lie, I’d still read a whole manga on that. As for the sequel, I’m not so sure…

There's something darkly beautiful about this story. Clearly it displays the painful hungers the two main characters struggle with deep down, the need to control and be controlled, but neither will state outright that they have this desire because it seems to happen exclusively between the two of them and not just as a general fetish. It's very dark, very gritty. You keep expecting last minute rescues or solutions to cutthroat moments/situations (like in every piece of yaoi ever) but those moments never come. Instead you're left feeling a bit sour...but in a way that keeps you wondering how far down rock bottom really is and no matter how certain you are that there's no possible way this could have anything close to a happy ending you really just keep reading anyways.

My overall say is that I love dark plotlines and screwed up characters...but it's not for everybody. If you want cute romance this isn't for you, that's the warning I'll give. But with my taste I'd give this a 5/5.

I just can't stop rereading this manga every few months. Venus ni Seppun is so dark, realistic and sad that the matureness I gained in the past 19 years of my life is not enough to comprehend it. But one is for certain, I like it. A lot.
*If you haven't tried this mangaka yet…I recommend all of her works: they are on a completely different level from most yaoi manga (+ and so much more intense…sexually).=))

If your not a fan of this mangaka, you might find it a little nasty for your taste (with the dog), but with that aside the story is what you'd usually get from SADAHIRO Mika and her art is just getting better and better...

If your craving to feed your yaoi addiction, then this will definitely make your day.

Ok, so i'm still trying to comprehend what i just saw. Its weird, but its not bad. The feelings, although appearing outrageous, they are real and they do exist. People with those tendencies do exist and i guess this manga is sort of aimed towards them.
The art is great, as usual for this mangaka and really, what a creative and serious plot. I'm competely sucked in and can't wait to read chapter 3. Its too explicit to download so i'll have to wait till its uploaded to the net ^_^ woah, i recomend.

I like dark, twisted stories... but this one just fell flat for me. Too much of the darkness was done behind the scenes, and there were a few too many jumps in the narrative that left me wondering if I'd missed a page or two somewhere. And the ending... Is that even an ending? What happened? Why? What was the point of any of it? I dunno.

This is 50 Shades of Grey but the Yaoi version LOL. There's something about twisted minds that interests me. I just ADORE their flash back scenes, Dom/Sub at young age can be cute.

But I gotta admit at some points plot doesn't make sense much, in particular that dark haired guy. His actions and they way they respond puzzles me.

You can definitely tell the leads were yakuza. A lot of stories throw that word around like it's nothing, but not this one. The seme has a hair trigger temper and the uke fits his "mad dog" title.

That's not to say the characters aren't emotional. One scene in particular had me sniffling (you'll figure out which one). The seme is abusive but the uke seems to like it that way.
