Description
Kinoshita Mairu has a cute name and she's apologetic for it, because she's ugly. In fact, she's apologetic for her very existence because she's not cute. Classmates call her "Poison Mushroom" behind her back and even her own brother treats her with disdain. However, all of that is about to change with the help of her transgender mentor/neighbor, Fuwari-chan, and the "school king," Kumada Tenyuu!

I've never really wrote any bad comment on manga reviews, but gosh - this manga just get onto my nerves!
I can't stand what a crybaby the female character is! I understand that's pretty young - but really? Love is everything she's living for? She can't stand on her own two feet without men?
On a side note - all the other side characters are actually much better than the main heroine.

Wow, people really hate this series! I'm surprised; to me, Mairu is more likable than the average shoujo protagonist. She has self-confidence issues, but honestly her go-get-em attitude really sold me on her. She cries and there are dramatic parts, but it's so obvious that she's learning new things and experiencing them for the first time that I really enjoy it.
I mean, I won't cry alongside her... that's not why I read shoujo. I read it to laugh and enjoy cute moments. I LOVE the way the author draws surprise (three big circles in a face--so simplistic! So laughable!) and that leads me to believe we're not supposed to be suffering alongside Mairu so much as enjoying her journey. (Just like Tenyuu is observing it.)

The first chapter made me cry.
And then I cried like 6 more times.
Wtf ;__;
Why do kids gotta be so cruel.
28 chapters in and with each chapter I thought "I have got to stop reading this".
This was straight up depressing. I literally couldn't get over the thought of how stupid this girl is, I wanted to bash her head into the wall.
Kudos to the author for giving me every emotion possible and making me cry.
F*ck this manga though.

At the moment, I'm just laughing at everything the heroine does and I'm not taking the story seriously at all..
And I don't mean getting entertained, like "oh, hahaha, that was funny," but more like "oops, too bad so sad, lol"; something along those lines.
Which is mean, I know, but.....that is the only way I can enjoy the manga at this point.

I liked this,(*Note past tense) but with everything that's going on right now. I have to stop. I can not read this one chapter every now and then. At the moment it's turned into 'Oh an update' or ' I want to throw a rock at my computer after that chapter' . This I think this is something I can only read all in one go.
I'm left in a bitter mood recently after an update and I just don't see it getting out of these annoying bits.
On hold for me until maybe ch. 50 or until it done. I'll edit this next time once it's over and rate it as well.

Kumada Tenyuu - The reason I stick with it. [tbc]

Let's start with the drawing style. As one can easily say, this work is a Shoujo and so it comes up with the typical art. Bringing out the cute points of the girls, while keeping the guys cool side. The clean outlines are something I really appreciate, while the rest is quite likeable in general. It's not edgy or extravagant, yet appealing in a simple way.
Now the storyline - Well, as others have said it before, the developments are there and can make you shake your head in disbelieve a few times. The main character "Mairu" is rather indecisive and the whole transformation setting is quite common, too. From this side you get nothing special, more like another crybaby heroine thrown into lots of typical situations.
If you wonder, why I still stick with it, it's because of the characters on the sideline. Especially "Kumada Tenyuu" has a decent personality and left me with a nice impression, so hopefully we get to see more of that guy soon again. He is mature for his age and somewhat different, because of his behaviour and background. As for the other side characters, they are funny yet serious in some situations, while the so-called love interest "Narutarou" made me raise an eyebrow, since he acts just as childish and selfish as "Mairu" by times, while considering himself as mature (or manly). Sighs.
Well, things are still going and so this comment is [tbc], but it's not like I expect some serious development or creative twist within the next chapters ... Kind of unfortunate. Sighs, again.

The art is perfect, but I'm starting to despise the story... I don't like people giving up their friends because their partner doesn't trust them... And I like even less when they throw away everyone without a doubt. I liked it a lot at first... and I will try reading it for a little bit more, but if Mairu doesn't grow up, I'm giving up this manga. Seriously, love is not everything.

Chapter 21 did it for me. So... Serious story? Parody? Intentional torture?
Someone tell me, please. Despite always thinking this story was serious and could turn around, I'm leaning very closely to the idea this is a semi-parody due to recent chapters and more**. I have enough respect in the mangaka to feel she knows what she's doing (?). Yet.. Mairu. Mairu is an annoying wuss of a character and painful to watch, even as a parody, how is this enjoyable?
EDIT: This is on hold now because it's too much for me. Too much. Done.
**I read some spoilers up to ch 50-60 ahead and it doesn't sound better, worse actually which is why I think it could be a parody. I'll omit said spoiler since it's nothing exciting... it's like the same stuff but worse and dragged out,

Most of the negative comments I perused (not) by were pointing out how shallow and stupid the main character Mairu is. She's not meant to be an ugly duckling in my opinion, just someone with a really low self esteem, so she does tend to judge others by the cover a bit but she is not evil. Although there were some crazy melodramatic moments, I think the rest of this series is kind of funny. You really can't take everything here too seriously. I especially liked how every time she breaks up with a guy there's this black page with their picture as if it's an obituary. (○´艸`) The only thing I don't like about this series besides the occasion rage at Mairu's naivete is Fuwari being an okama... I'm not interested in that flirty French kid she's with, either.
Aside from the occasional weird eyes and anatomy, the drawing is pretty good, and I like the clothes they wear, too. I know that Kumada Tenyuu is the hero of the story, but the other guys are pretty cute, too. Nanase reminds me of Shishio-sensei ♡♡♡ Which also reminds me, there's a cameo of Tenyuu in Hirunaka no Ryuusei, another Margaret series. If you like this series, be sure to check it out. (*^-゚)v (As you can see, the series already has about 60 chapters, and the English translation is still lagging on 20. So for those whose only resort is to wait, you have my condolences.)

Well, my impression for now is: SHE ISN'T UGLY GODDAMIT! She just wear glasses and have big bangs, so typical... Well, I am ugly so I was quite happy about the manga but I'm not like her, I'm still not that pretty even with makeup and such, actually I can't use makeup at all, I just use on special ocasions since I have acne and oily skin, that made me disapointed... It had a good start but then it just became like all mangas that have ugly girls, they become pretty... and I didn't like the guy just said to her try hard to beautiful... I would be mad in her place LOL what's the problem with being ugly? That's what I don't like about that type of shoujo >:
