Look, it's not the best manga, but it has its moments. All these people who are giving it bad reviews is because once they see something bad then they stop. Every manga has its ups and downs. I think it's pretty good. The funny part is if the sister, Mafuyu hadn't broken up with Sai then none of this would have happened. LOL. Also, the people who are calling the sex scenes boring need to understand this isn't hentai.
In the beginning, it held a lot of promise. However, as the manga went on, the story seemed to go nowhere. Plus, it became choked full of endless sex scenes which were too boring.
Edit: If you want a real and good lesbian story, try something like Aoi hana or even Girl Friends. Or even anything slice of life like Plica or Honey & honey ain't too bad either.
It's a realistic story of physical attraction, experimentation, maturity due to experience, and realization. It's not the typical romantic love story where you know the characters really love each other because it shows through their actions and words.
It has alot of overly emphasize sexual content which are not really necessary to develop the story. It also has various introduction and exits of characters, which was annoying but it did exemplify the theme of "maturing through time."
Before you read this manga, be sure you will be able to read the whole volume or you will end up disliking or misinterpreting the point of the story (for me the point is of the story is "somewhere down the road"). Also, be sure to have an open mind while reading the book, although I understand if you want to bash and shower the main character and other characters with hatred. XD
This series caught my eye by the summary so I downloaded several volumes of it. I couldn't put it down, yet I wasn't enjoying it as thoroughly as I felt I should have.
Contrary to what some reviewers claim, this is NOT a real romance story. Certainly you would find this type of thing in the "romance" section of your local bookstore, but there is nothing romantic about this story at all. This is a slice-of-life story. Welcome to the world of modern dating taken to the extreme with weak relationships based on nothing more than sex.
This manga was not what I was looking for when I got started, and the more I got into it the more I realized such. Disheartened by the characters, who repeatedly betray themselves and those around them, I downloaded the raw for the very last chapter. I cannot read Japanese, but the expressions of the characters told me enough: the ending is a disappointment that only solidifies my dislike of the characters. I won't say what exactly happens, but the only character who seems to "win" is the character I like the least.
I'm rating this manga a 5/10. It's not a bad read if the story agrees with you, but if the story does not agree with you then you will come to HATE the characters.
Prioritize other romance stories before this one, especially if you are looking for real romance rather than just sexually charged shallow relationships.
Haru yo Koi is a romance manga--though I for one would think twice before using that word. It is a complex web of relations that seems interesting at first but ultimately proves to be nothing but disappointing. Potential boyfriends and girlfriends appear out of the blue, stick around for a couple of chapters, and disappear before they have any time to develop their characters. Hookups happen in every which way and and relationships start and end at light speed. This couldn't be further from real love!
But on a side note, I hope the author would end up putting everyone back into their original couples. Sae and Mafuyu were cute together (that being the only positive thing I have to say about this manga).
Now that's what I call a romance manga. Not some shonen crap where nothing ever is going on.
----------------- this manga successfully teaches you:
1. How to cheat. And how to get caught cheating 2. How to dump someone, and how to get dumped. ----------------------- Talk about ignorance. You missed the point completely.
I kinda liked it in the beginning. Then I started to get annoyed with Takashi(I kinda hate two "timers",more like they annoy me greatly). Then I read. just beacause I don't like to drop things unfinished. The Mafyu started dating her teacher. Yeah! - I said and continued reading just for that couple. But things got complicated again. Takashi is in a mix again. 2 volumes to the end and I am paralyzed with fear of this manga going nowhere... I just hope that last pages will be about Mafyu and her girlfriend living together. Because Mafyu is the only character I didn't find dislikeble. Well I like this manga beacause all sorts of thoughts keep popping up in my head - that means I am connected. But tendency of breaking couples apart all the time drives me crazy. It does happen in real life all the time, BUT I keep getting the feeling that happy couples are doomed in nowadays.
All the character development and then the mangaka says "ok the story is getting dull, hmm lets do what everyone else tries and bring in a fresh new cast" WRONG!!!! it just made the story go even further down the drain. I still give it a "its alright" rating of 5 because the art is pretty good and I am still expecting a surprise ending.
Well, I guess lots of you youngsters will love it due to the sex content and the other "youth" issues... But for everyone else, this is just a manga that can't hold it's wiener in it's pants.
