I'm not a fan of this pairing at ALL, but Kyuugou being the author, I gave it a try and OMG it's fantastic. (ETA: I've been wholly converted to EdRoy ever since, and it remains one of my OTPs to this day, thanks to this doujin) Gorgeous art, precious expressions which tug at your heart and a wonderful flow that takes you in, this story is amazing in its ever bitter-sweetness.

Add to it the "sci-fi" element of the parallel worlds and you get an intriguing, somehow disturbing storyline which leaves you not knowing on which foot to stand, exactly like Ed. Kyuugou-sama ftw really.

The first volume of this series was my first real exposure to Kyuugou. I had read another doujin of theirs without thinking that it was anything special, but this story most certainly is. The drawing is amazingly fluid and crisp, and while Ed and Roy are not quite the same as in the manga, Kyuugou's style is close enough to the original, and beautiful enough in its own right, that it doesn't matter at all. In fact, which I read FMA fanfiction, especially those taking place in Germany, it is Kyuugou's gorgeous art that comes to mind. (And Roy is particularly heart-thumping, imo.)

What elevates this doujin series to a 10 is its combination of achingly portrayed emotion and plot. Kyuugou is excellent at portraying emotion in their drawings of characters. And while there isn't quite as much plot as a normal manga, it isn't pwp either. There are terribly awesome cliffhangers and little clever twists in the story, and the premise, while not completely original, is very well pulled off.

I found the first volume years ago, and ever since then I have had a slow-burning fire to find out what happens later on. Do Roy and Ed ever have a true relationship, one with trust and without all the secrets that consume them? I guess we won't ever find out, but I'm glad I read this anyway. The art is beautiful, the plot is interesting and the emotions of the characters are complex and engrossing... Like a previous reviewer said, it is definitely "bittersweet," in more ways than one. If you like FMA and RoyEd, this is not something you want to pass up. And if you know FMA and aren't sure about RoyEd, I would recommend you try it out anyway.

You know, I've always been about neutral towards this pairing, but reading this made we want to be a fan of RoyxEd for life. The art is drawn in the author's style, not Arakawa's style, but is absolutely well done and at times gorgeous and besides it's not far enough from the original FMA style that it would bother anyone. (Or at least it didn't bother me-especially the way they draw Roy! Omg!)

Also, just like Arakawa, Kyuugou knows how to employ the subtle and not so subtle emotions in the characters' eyes and faces. And that is, to put it simply, AWESOME.

As far as plot, the emotions are revelations are believable and moving, and the pacing works well for me. And, although I'm not too far in the story, it seems as if there are plot twists to come...

This author knows what they are doing!!!!

This is an amazing doujinshi. The art is gorgeous and a bit different than what I'm used to seeing, and the storytelling is perfect. Some parts make me laugh and smile, but others break my heart. I hope the ending doesn't break it permanently. In any case, I am very much looking forward to the next part.

I liked the story, at first I was hesitating to read as although I'd read the manga I don't remember much of it but as tmthuy said you don't need to know FMA to enjoy the doujinshi which I think is great in itself and really considerate of the author. This is related to FMA setting wise though, the AU is like an epilogue to one of the anime and I've watched that before so it made sense to me. It's such a shame that we don't really find out who alternate-Roy is... and the way it was suddenly stopped is disappointing... But it was a nice read!

Before I begin my review, I confess that I still haven't watched a single episode/chapter of Fullmetal Alchemist. This DJ, however, has been on top of my manga list for 5-6 years straight.

When it comes to characterization, Roy Mustang is certainly attractive, arguably even more attractive than his portrayal in the original manga: calm, collected, deceitful, yet couldn't help but having feelings for Ed. This is in complete contrast with such of Ed. He's expressive, straightforward, it's hard for him to conceal his emotions. Ed can also be emotionally vulnerable, yet that strangely doesn't come off as overtly feminine.

The eyes were drawn with a lot of details. Roy's eyes reflect his sharpness and deceitful nature, while Ed's eyes are light and fragile (it's hard to put it into words).

Overall, it's definitely an enjoyable read. However, it should be noted that the ending can be interpreted as an open ending, or tragic to some. Kyuugou initially planned to do a 5th installment, but cancelled it in the end. I believe the decision was considered carefully, for the ending set at the 4th volume is really haunting
