Description
This is the story of Motoko and her younger brother Satoru who have come to America to live with their grandfather after their parents' deaths. When they siblings run away from home and get lost in the desert, they stumble upon a once-in-ten-years Native American festival.

During a puppet show, the chieftain-puppet announces that only upon this rare occasion the Great Spirit will send his thunderbirds to grant peoples' wishes. Motoko prays to "go back in time" to the days when her parents were alive. Suddenly Motoko and Satoru are transported back in time—to the late 1800s, the time of the cowboys! There they meet up with the handsome bandit, Vincent, and the dashing but devious "gentleman," Heath, and their adventures in the Wild Wild West begin!

@kill-chan: apparently she says that Takahashi is one of her inspirations as a mangaka, so it's quite possible that the story you mention is one that she drew inspiration from. It does suck when you guess a plot twist in advance because you've seen it done before, but I do suspect that most readers may be unfamiliar enough with the other story to be able to enjoy this series.

I can't comment on the series itself as I know no Japanese, but I do wish it would be scanlated or licensed! From what I've seen of the artwork, it appears Takeuchi's improved in confidence from the days of Her Majesty's dog. I'm guessing that the series is standard shoujo fare like the rest of her series, probably worth a look if you like that kind of manga.

Aside the fact that it's set in the wild wild west, this story to me looks like it takes a lot from Fire Tripper, a Rumiko Takahashi's short story... and I'm not talking about the heroines having the same school uniform ( ^ ^)/ , but about the "mystery" behind it all.
Hope I'm wrong because, if I'm not, the Fail would be Epic
